Re: Iron Avatarist: Bakka Chikka Wow Wow
I'm happy You liked my Tsukiko and Xykon avatar . I've also made a small comic:
Best Love Scene
That's how it should have ended (based on comic 679)
I've made V as female because I thought she would match better for scene like this.Last edited by half-halfling; 2010-02-21 at 12:16 PM.

Re: Iron Avatarist: Bakka Chikka Wow Wow
I figured I'd throw my hat into the ring, having finally gotten some inkscape under my belt. Since it's valentine's day themed, I figured 'singles awareness day' cards would be right up there. So, in the vein of programming for
hornylonely guys, here's the cover of the swimsuit issue of Babes of Azure City featuring the three gals from "Hinjo's Angels". If you don't get the reference after all that setup...shame on you. Here's the

I'm so beating myself up over Miko's legs and all of their hair...it looks fine on the avatar level but it's not so hot in the full version.

Re: Iron Avatarist: Bakka Chikka Wow Wow
Be glad for one! Hoping to enter future contests and make some customs of my own, an in particular the pixelation of the reduction bothers me. Other avatars are obviously much smoother

Re: Iron Avatarist: Bakka Chikka Wow Wow
Critique and advice for NemUtopia:
SpoilerWhat program are you using? I use Adobe Illustrator, so some of the below may not apply.
You know the lines are very jagged. Look for a "smooth" tool (in AI, it's under the "pencil" tool).
The lines should be thicker. I generally use 1.5px at 120x120px, but some people use anywhere between 1 and 2.
I'm not sure how you managed to make the eyes so pointy, but they should be round, just using the oval tool.
Closed eyes are depicted using a curved line (inner curve going upwards).
The "sinister brow" should be right down touching the top of the eyes, like so:
The back is generally a gentle curve, no sharp point.
The bodies should be quite a bit smaller in comparison to the legs, arms and head.
Miko's body (boobs?) is... pointy? But that's a really tough angle to try to depict. Maybe you would've been better off employing a bit of artistic license and changing it a bit.
The hands should be larger and curved.
How did you shrink it down? In AI, when you "save for web", you can choose to change the dimensions. That way, you can make it big (changing the line thicknesses appropriately) and then shrink it down without distortion.
That's about all I've got so far. Hope it's helpful. It's easy to see that you just need more practice, specifically just with getting the hang of the program. The Iron Avatarist Hall of Fame!

Re: Iron Avatarist: Bakka Chikka Wow Wow
Thanks, good stuff!
SpoilerInkscape is my current experience, but I've been getting more practice with the pen tool...you have to be careful about the number of nodes you use, because too few doesn't give you enough curve are, and too many makes it jagged and easy to get wrinkling. I'll definitely get more with smoothing and proper resizing (working at ~120-120 is one of those retrospect blindingly obvious things). I was tempted to make all three standing or have one in an 'easy kneel' that doesn't present so many problems for OotS style, but threw caution to the wind to get practice with the perspective change and use of legs. Lots of practice, not so much on progress just yet xP

Re: Iron Avatarist: Bakka Chikka Wow Wow
People use the pen tool? I just simplify the object (Select the object, Ctrl L) with the pencil and then delete specific nodes when there are few enough to easily deal with.

Re: Iron Avatarist: Bakka Chikka Wow Wow
I use the pen tool, because I usually try to make shapes with as few control points as possible. It makes managing them easier. With the pencil tool, if you use too few control points at drawing time, the shape won't look like what you draw at all, and simplify only works for the first few iterations, after that it usually only rearranges points, but don't really simplify the shape. For simpler shapes, I usually draw a sharp shape with the pen tool first, then refine it with the "edit path by nodes" tool. For more complicated shapes, I use the pencil, but then it becomes really hard to refine later.

Re: Iron Avatarist: Bakka Chikka Wow Wow
...
I have no idea what you're all talking about. I use the "pencil" tool to make and change my shapes, sometimes using the white arrow tool to move around and change the angles of specific nodes. Rarely, I use the "pen"-related tools to add or delete nodes, but that's not usually necessary. The Iron Avatarist Hall of Fame!

Re: Iron Avatarist: Bakka Chikka Wow Wow
The fact that you don't find the pen tool useful for drawing doesn't mean it isn't. I simply find it easier to manipulate nodes one-by-one than draw a good shape with the mouse at first try. If a shape has 4-5 nodes, it is mutch easier to fine-tune it than if it has 20 or so.

I use the tool that allows me to place nodes and connects them with lines...
Then I round said lines and make them smooth...

I use the pen tool to make magic effects. If you dont simplify, though, it looks way too rough to fit in

Re: Iron Avatarist: Bakka Chikka Wow Wow
I use Corel Draw, so it may not be much help, but in most cases it's good to avoid hand drawing ,and use curves made of points instead.
Here's my new picture -it's Roy and Celia dressed up as Miko. This katana is supposed to be cut out of cardboard . Alternative text for Roy to say was "But I must warn You I can summon a titan to fight by my side". I hope it qualifies as a love scene -it's rather "this kind of love" .
