The Drow gives a grin at the sight of the platinum, and extends a hand for the coin. "I'll stick around til dawn. If you aren't back by then, I'm leaving."

Lucan has a tough time getting a read on the drow, but doesn't get the immediate impression that the Drow is going to betray him.

The Shepherd quickly bounds back into the laboratory and up the steps three at a time. His shepherd's instinct was right about Kala, though he wished it wasn't. He really did want a new assistant for his pasture, the stubborn ones always make the best assistants once they cool off. But no matter. A wolf is a wolf, sometimes you need to squash the head into a pulpy mess to make an example to the other wolves.

"She cut her bonds," The Shepherd rumbles calmly once he reaches the top step. "We'll see her again, I am sure."

Lucan unties the horses and saddles them, if there are saddles around, getting ready to go.

Are there saddles? How many horses are there?

There are 3 horses, none of them have saddles, but they all have harnesses for the carts.

If it looks like it will take more time to prep the horses than to just head out, Lucan will ignore them and start toward Rex's place at a jog, trusting that the rest will follow.

OOC: K, is everyone going to head towards the Rex place with Lucan, or is there anything else that you want to do here?

"If Oedipus is still at Rex's place, then we haven't a moment to lose. Eltain, you at least should mount up. Your armor would slow us down otherwise."

Eltain hisses at the mention of Lolth but holds his tongue, recognizing that there's no time for proselytizing at present.

He nods at Aramil's comment and selects a strong-looking horse and climbs up.

"Let's go."

Before long, you make your way back into Fallcrest, and begin heading up to the Rex manor. When you arrive, the grounds are in chaos. You see both city guards as well as Rex family guards running around and yelling at each other. Sitting at the entrance to the gate, the guard captain that you spoke to previously is in the midst of a fierce argument with Berrian and what looks to be a heavily armored Rex family guard. Sitting at the gate, staring off blankly, you see the Kobold servant that had greeted you into the house before. As you approach, he looks up and examines you all with a blank face, his tail drooping behind. In a monotone voice, he whispers "Lord Rex is dead."

Berrian holds up a hand to pause the argument, and turns to face you. with a sigh, he motions you towards the house. "Come. There's much we need to discuss"
