I know I may be a page late, but wasn't it okay for pikachu to be able to beat onyx/geodude in the first season because duel types didn't exist yet? Therefore they wouldn't actually have been ground types.

Dual typing was in there from the beginning.

Also I'm quite certain (almost 100%) that lightning was ineffective against rock and ground. So it didn't really matter which one it was, it wouldn't work either way.

Rock's always been neutral to Electric, and vice-versa. It's ground that's immune to electric. Rock and Ground were unchanged from generations 1 to 2, except for adding their reactions with Dark (neutral both ways) and Steel (Steel is SE vs Rock, Rock is ineffective against Steel, Ground is SE vs Steel).

I can't remember the last fight that Ash outright one in a way that didn't trample completely over the mechanics of the game it was supposed to represent.

Perhaps the most egregious (except his pikachu KOing a Rhydon and a Golem at the same time with thunderbolt, which was just dumb) was the point at which he decided that the best way to defeat Lt. Surge was to not evolve his pikachu so it would be faster than the Raichu.

I wouls not want a Kabuto latched to my face, as I believe it would likely drive a man mad.

Not actually that egrerious. In the first gen games, stoned (heh heh) pokemon didn't learn new moves anymore. So, an unevolved pikachu would learn Quick Attack where as early evolved Raichu would not.

Most stone evolved pokemon still don't learn as much in the way of new moves- and usually the moves learned by stone evolved pokes are not the same as those learned by their pre-evolutions.

Now, there was this stone that a pokemon holding it wouldn't evolve... But you could just cancel the evolution anyway, so who cares? So, why it's there? TELL ME!

The stats of the pokemon improve significantly (though this depends on the evolution)

It saves an awful lot of time and effort- especially if your B Button is a little dodgy.

blaziken and that grass pokemon ash had... It was stupid that they got a draw.. Either Ash's pokemon was far better and that is the reason they had a draw, or blaziken should have totally wiped him out... They just did it to cut the ribbon in half...
