Okay, I wasn't on yesterday, but I'm pretty sure that the last time I checked, Trog's was Trog's, and there hadn't been a coup.

first off, apologies to anyone who was in anyway offended by EDEN's first public appearance. My main objective with EDEN was to create a ,more mundane, more real kind off Evil in the Nexus. a faceless corporation bent on a set of goals that would be the end of freedom in the nexus. I created it with the expectain that most people would not like it, that people would complain, and rebel. EDEN was created to be overthrown.to give a lot of players a common goal, to see a large group of people working together towards a single end. the episode in trog's was a kick start in getting EDEN a zero percent approval rating.

What happened?!

Magtok and Elly came in, waved guns around, and declared themselves the new owner. After a lot of destruction, the Fix Everything button was pushed, and it seems to have acknowledged the change by changing the sign.

Then Dipsnig killed Elly.

@iElf: I think it was a good idea that just had a few flaws in conception. But you've recognized most of those and are working to correct them, like the surveillance. One thing I would add is to maybe have fewer mooks that are a bit more powerful individually. A fight with 50 mooks is hard to envision and work with, even if you are killing many of them each round. And of course bringing tanks and helicopters and stuff into the city would normally need to be roleplayed out, since people tend to object to that sort of thing.

But overall, it's nice to see a non-apocalyptic villain.

Double posting for the purposes of moving the ooc discussion out of Trog's/Magtok's:

((I was being slightly sarcastic. I don't want Dipsnig to die, I just can't see a way for him to have survived it without blatant godmodding or a silly rear-end pull. And given how afterlife in his world works, combined with his god being pissed off with him, I'm not sure if he can come back.))

((If you want to keep Dipsig, Kandri's been basically focusing on making sure no-one actually *dies*. I'm not sure exactly how her healing works, but it's powerful enough to do resurrections.))

The problem with that, warkitty, is that Mainframebot will just keep trying until it succeeds, gets different orders, or is destroyed. After Dipsnig killed Elly, for no reason other than spite, he shouldn't have stuck around. Since he did, he's getting what he had coming. OOC, I feel bad for Morty, but IC, I can't think of anyway it could have gone down differently.

But I don't want Morty to be unhappy, so I'm open to suggestions.

Just a bit of clarification here: Dipsnig didn't kill Elly out of spite. He wanted to kick Magtok out of Trog's and he felt shooting Elly was required in order for this to happen - seeing as she was waving a gun around alongside Magtok and all that. There is spite there, mind you, but it was far from being the primary reason. And he stuck around for the same reason, to make sure Magtok gets kicked out and doesn't own Trog's.

A newcomer comes in and beats off mainframe from killing Dipsnig or getting him out of there.

That might work. Zara might also save his skin once Kid Kris undeadtimes.

I edited the post so that Mainframe drops onto Dipsnig, but the laser malfunctions. So, he's probably still almost dead, but didn't get a laser blast to the face.

I can't really do more without going wildly out of character though. Mainframe is going to do all it can to remove Dipsnig from existence.

I'm fine with that. Getting his ribs and some other bones broken and spending several weeks in NO recovering will be enough of a defeat even if he'll be still alive.

Internal injuries too I imagine. And it's still not going to be an automatic escape. If Zara, or someone else, isn't able to stop Mainframebot fast, she might end up going on an afterlife quest to bring Dipsnig back.

As long as he doesn't get fried point-blank. I'm not sure I'd be able to run a good afterlife plot.

For shooting someone who took over a legal estabilishment by force, being a cutthroat mercenary in general or not being smart enough to run away earlier?

None of those actually. All three of those are legit things. My reasoning is that he did something very stupid that would give Magtok the Right to Retribution.

Dipsnig went after loved ones to solve a problem he had with someone else.

See, when you have a problem with a specific person, you take it out with that person and only that person. In this case, Magtok. But, instead, Dipsnig decides to kill Elle, just to get Magtok to leave. As far as I am aware, Elle is the only person Magtok has loved.

And Dipsnig killed her.

Instead of going after Magtok and dealing with him personally, Dipsnig decided to go after Magtok's loved one. In my opinion, if you go after someone's family or loved ones, you give up the right for protection and vengeance ensues.

Well to be fair Elly was helping Magtok take over the tavern, and without her it would be more difficult for him to do it better.

Actually, Dipsnig also tossed a bottle of rust monster venom at Magtok right before shooting Elly. He attacked both of them, and his attempt at Elly's life was purely tactical, really - she helped Magtok take over Trog's so she had to be taken out if he was to be kicked out. Dipsnig knows nothing about Magtok's feeling for the catgirl. This whole "attack the loved ones first" is a load of human nonsense to him, anyway.
And on an OOC note, I honestly didn't expect Dipsnig's bolt to just flat-out kill Elly.

Magtok and Elly were basically serving people drinks at gunpoint.

A crime? Yes. But I'm pretty sure neither of them has managed to do the slightest bit of damage to anyone in this entire scene. And I highly doubt Dipsnig would have felt inclined to defend Trog's ownership if anyone other than Magtok had been the culprit.

IC, Dipsnig deserves to die. If not for Elly's death, then for Happy's. He killed her simply for a paycheck.

OOC, I think it's maybe a bit silly that you're that attached to your characters that you don't want them to die, but it's your decision, and as long as it doesn't force anyone to act horribly ooc to allow him to live, I'm not going to complain.

OOC: I understand perfectly. Things don't work out as planned.

IC: Dipsnig still shot at her when she was just trying to help Magtok, not even knowing Dipsnig was there. And when you shoot at someone with a crossbow, it's generally meant to be lethal. But as I understand it(as I'm seeing it personally, but I'm likely missing the whole picture), Dipsnig's problem was with Magtok himself for the most part, not Elle. He still made the conscious decision to use lethal force on someone who wasn't a threat(for the moment) or even paying attention to him.

Yes, I'm perhaps a bit too attached to Dipsnig. He's my first ACRO character and I still enjoy playing him the most after such a long time. Sue me.

Maybe Dipsnig manages to grab the handle of the pickaxe sticking out of Mainframebot's head and falls through the floor of Trog's? I'm sure Zara can take it from there.

I suppose, yes. But I'm not that concerned about Dipsnig dying - getting him back would make for a fun plot and an opportunity to put some of my ideas somewhere else than my notes and head - but about the fact that we even have to come up with some wonky solutions because of something that was out of character and not thought-out enough on my part. Dipsnig hates Magtok more than he'd like to admit, yes, but he's above all pragmatic and reasonable and attacking Magtok and Elly openly was neither.
