She doesn't notice the sketchpad, because she is right behind Edijar, not realizing that he's trying to keep his distance. "How did you know I was in trouble? And so fast?"

Edijar sighs tiredly as he turns on the bath water. "I have contacts around the city. I gave them orders to tell me should anything bad happen to you or if you're in trouble. Other than that, they're not supposed to contact me. As for finding you, a giant cat-thing leaves a bit of a trail." He tests the water. "There, it should be good enough now."

Charity strips down and gets into the bath, closing her eyes and sighing contentedly at the feel of the hot water. "I guess it would be pretty stupid of me to get mad at you for that when it just saved my life."

"I'm sorry for having them watch you like that, but I'm glad I could help." With that, he moves to leave the her alone and shut the door unless stopped. That's likely pretty unusual for him.

The click of the door shutting behind him makes her open his eyes. Oh. She hadn't expected him to just walk out like that.

She thinks about calling after him, but decides she can manage a bath by herself. As long as he doesn't make her sleep alone tonight.

Outside the door and a bit further down the hall, Edijar leans his head on the wall, hitting it against it a few times. He said he'd give her some distance, and he was trying, but hated it and was finding it a lot more difficult than he thought it was going to be.

Lets hope she doesn't hear the thumping.

That...was an odd sort of stretch...

Anyways, unless you count building a bunch of Magbots and telling them to build one with their own hands as building by hand, no. But as I said, I'm sure it's not as hard as it sounds.

You and your silly optimism, Magtok. I can't wait to see what kind of sloppy shack the two/three of you assemble. Something that makes one of these or two treehouses look well-planned, undoubtedly.

Meanwhile, ignoring the vicious assault by his own narrative text, Magtok places his palm against Elly's once more, and continues to toy with the stone whilst dodging contact with sand. It seems to nearly be in the shape of a heart now, but the 'E' in 'M+E' is only halfway done.

I was wondering, when we eventually head off the island and get back to doing stuff out there, how about we rob/conquer Trog's? Standing on the tables over everyone, laser gun in one hand and yours in my other...It'd be all poetic justicey and-GAH!

Unexpectedly, a large seagull swoops in like a ninja, clamping its beak on the rock Mag had been carving into with his prosthetic hand, apparently mistaking it for food. Neither seems intent on letting go, and neither seems to be capable of shaking (Or finger-biting, in the gull's case) the other fellow away.

When the water cools down, Charity drags herself out of the bath and dries herself off, digging through his drawers to find a spare toothbrush so she didn't have to go out and find her own bag. She wasn't even sure if it was here, or if it had gotten left behind in Trog's or that warehouse.

She helps herself to Edijar's bathrobe that's hanging on the back of the door and wanders out to find him.

Charity will find him in the kitchen, putting together a light lunch of sandwiches, just in case her appetite returned. He gives her a slight smile when he notices her. "Feeling better?"

She starts to walk over to put her arms around him, then second guesses herself and sits down on one of the tall stools nearby instead. "I'm sorry to be so much trouble." she mutters as she seems to be studying the pattern of the countertop surface.

His smile turns into a sigh. "You're not any trouble." he pauses for a moment, realizing he's lying. "Well, not too much anyways." Edijar says as he sets the food on the table before pulling a chair close to her and squeezing her hand. "Don't worry about it. You're safe, that's what matter."

She clings tightly to his hand, not saying anything.

The Commander moves his chair closer and wraps an arm around Charity's waist. "Come, lets find a place to lay down for a bit. We should probably rest."

"Yeah." Charity leans on his shoulder as they get to their feet. "The bedroom, I think. You'll be more comfortable."

Edijar leads her there, keeping her close, probably leaning on her a bit because of his leg until they get to the bed, which he flops down on, feeling worn out and and more than a little aching. "I'll be right here for you, but right now, that's about all I can do for you." he says with a bit of a smirk.

Over and over in her mind the scene plays. The gun charges up. The sonic boom of the projectile. A man on the ground, dead. Only instead of Gordon, it was Edijar.

She curls up against him and starts to cry.

The Commander holds her close to him and feels guilty about several things. About how he could have tried to prevent her kidnapping, about how he broke his promise to himself to let her call first before they met again, and likely most important, that he feels guilty about not feeling as bad as he should about breaking that promise.

Edijar will hold onto her as long as she needs him to.

Felicis Island

"Aw, it wasn't that strange. I'm just flexible." She loads the emphasis on that last word, then giggles, and hops onto a larger stone. "No Magbots here. But I'm sure we can manage something between us. You're a genius and all that, afterall." Elle nods confidently, and then suddenly! seagull attack! She tries to help him batter it off, the stupid bird. "Shoo! Shoo!"

She doesn't have the energy to cry for long, but she doesn't give any sign of wanting to let go. Instead, she plants soft kisses along his shoulder and collarbone where she had just been crying.

Edijar kisses her forehead. "Sorry I can't do more for you right now. Just too tired an sore." After all, he was shot and stabbed.

"You don't owe me anything," she says, sounding a bit miffed. Did he really think that's all he was to her? Then her voice softens. "I just... gods... you could have been killed..."

"I just want to comfort you however you need me to, that's all." He says, completely honest. "Charity, it's my job to risk my life daily. Today was only different because it happened in front of you." Edijar tries to pull her a bit tighter to himself. "But, I survive. It's what I'm best at."

Charity puts a hand to his face and kisses him, with more tenderness than passion.

" No, for you to startle me, silly."
Ashna starts laughing as well then.

Brendan grins, still laughing, then tries to look scary.

He winds up just looking silly.

"Boo!"

Edijar kisses her back. "I'm sorry, but that's just how it is." He sighs deeply. "Sooner or later..." he doesn't bother finishing the statement, obvious in what he means.

Felicis Island

Whether due to sun-burn, seagull-rage, or Elly's emphasis of the world "flexible" can't be said for certain, as the softer, skin-covered cheek on Mag's face turns bright red. A few more frantic swatting and flailing motions later, and both blush and seagull scurry away. Mag looks to his hand to make sure the stone is still there and that the seagull is long gone, and breathes an exasperated sigh of relief.

Shaking some gull-saliva from the rock, he can't help but chuckle. He's entirely used to misfortune and inexplicable antagonizing karmic nonsense, but this is just ridiculous.

That, even on vacation. That's just...wow. You're certain you weren't born with wings and a harp? Because someone up there has to be insanely jealous of us or something.

The finished rock is looked over one last time, before being passed towards Elly.

Can you really blame them, though?

Charity found his words perversely comforting. If it was inevitable, then panicking about it now was pointless. Not that the thought came to her in any coherent insight. Just a sense of weary acceptance that lifted the anxiety enough to let her sleep.

Edijar keeps his arm around Charity and pulls the blanket up to cover them both. It doesn't take long for him to fall to sleep.

Brendan grins, still laughing, then tries to look scary.

He winds up just looking silly.

Ash, laughing harder, closes her eyes. "Not. Like that."

"Sir," says one man, "I'm not sure these doors can be opened. They appear to be magically sealed."

The woman with the scythe also circles the room, with one eye on Violet at all times. She also approaches a little bit.

"Nor brave, nor clever..." she continues to spout off, trying to goad the woman into coming closer in a fit of anger or frustration, having no reason to approach the other woman, moving away just enough to counterbalance her gentle approach, keeping them effectively the same distance apart.

Violet, as she continues to circle, starts up an extraordinarily soft tune, in minor, on her viola. Slow, mysterious. Oppressing and saddening, echoing across the room, the deathly echo accompaining the haunting melody.
It's effects don't start up for now, for the stringed instrument hasn't yet drained enough blood from the young mother.
