Well, it's a multi-layered argument. A few of the points I've developed so far:

1.) Some of the typos are a bit too pat to be unintentional. See: Tom Bombadil.

2.) The quality declines as the readership increases. At first, it could be easily read as just a straight-up parody, but as it gains "haterz" the prose takes a drastic dive in coherency. This suggests (and I'm on the fence about how much I want to emphasize this part) that the author was initially attempting a direct parody, but saw the opportunity for a troll instead.

3.) The author character offers a way of mocking the average fanfic writer, and is spookily good at saying the exact thing that makes them look like an idiot.

4.) The story plays fast and loose with unrelated subcultures (goth, scene, satanic, etc). Tara Gilesbie, the "author", is supposed to be immersed in these subcultures, but clearly doesn't know bo diddley about them.

It's not 100% composed, and it's not airtight, but I think it should come out pretty compelling.

True. There are quite a few typos that would almost have to be intentional because the level of misspelling and frequency.

This is where you have to be careful because you could still argue that it was still an attempt at a parody, but the author just got too crazy or with the note that the author was helped, just included everything she was told. I'm on the fence on that one, mainly because I don't know how much to trust the intelligence of the author.

3.) The author character offers a way of mocking the average fanfic writer, and is spookily good at saying the exact thing that makes them look like an idiot.

The perfect timing of the idiotic statements causes trouble because you could argue that they are due to actual idiocy rather than writing ability.

A good point about the inclusion of the subcultures. However make sure that you don't fall into the same trap of not knowing "bo diddley" about them.

I believe so too. A few spots some people may focus on and argue the single point to try and disprove you, but you should be fine with your diverse argument.

Demo doesn't affect my ping, happily. If you want to record too, may as well. More demos can't hurt. My recorder doesn't actually affect my FPS either, but I dislike running it while playing.

Seriously, I've heard the character's own name is misspelled multiple, multiple times. Something's off there.

I'd say no to all of these except maybe the realism one. The rest of them will be too hard to keep track of when the drunk team start to get going, and who knows, I may end up having a few drinks as well :P

EDIT: Also, byrnbot, I dunno if you've been playing l4d2 much recently, but there's been an annoying patch: melee seems to be extremely rare in spawn/safe rooms and not very common throughout the game. So, as if realism versus isn't bad enough (which I refuse to play by the way), survivors would be really screwed if the game just happens to not give melees for a while. Unless it's dead center....

I have imported carribean rum AND homebrew ale AND homebrew alcoholic ginger beer to get me in the correct state of mind. Also it's the first weekend in ages I've had off work.

I'll admit that anything but Realism Versus would be hard to track. I'll admit, grudgingly, that drunks probably can't keep using shotguns or pistols or medkits without use of their rapidly deteriorating brain proceses.

I won't admit however, that I am in any way envious of you people who can get drunk. Being sober is better in my mind, because then I know that anything I say or do is a result of a conscious and comprehending mind.

Therefore I revise my suggestions and say:

AHAHAHAH YESTHANKYOU We play Realism Versus. It seems solid enough to give survivors a challenge, and will result in maximum hilarity when combined with drunk infected/survivors who can barely tell where anything is let alone coordinate proper and effective response to any event.

The only thing I am worried about, is if all admins (and Djinn) are drunk, then who will watch the Watchmen Giants?
