(IC): A Changing World [3.5]

Charis can't see anything ressembling a holding pen from his position but the view his obsucured by taller building.

Titian makes a gesture to the mob (as if expulsing a fly), and after that he completely ignores them. he looks straight for the bar.

Unless stoped, he head for the bartender "What happened in this town?"(drawns a bank and sit on it) "it is a mess.."

*Titian is a Tortle, a race and strange race. He is somewhat used to hear that kind of insult by now and is not shaken by it.

The bartender seem surprise by your word, "This town ? Your not from here ? The town is closed how did you enter and what do you want with us ?" He is still hostile but now he also look a little afraid.
The patron are looking at this exchange curiously.

"We kind of jumped over the wall. We're between adventures."

"There a a lot of changed things out there... we tought we could get more information here. Now... what heppened in this town? it is a mess"

(Titian sounds less friendly as he repets his question. hopefully his changed friends will back him up with a nice intimidate check)

Argal walks behind Titian, looking around, and while he doesn't say anything, his demeanor makes it crystal clear that any attacker would meet a swift and bloody end. While Titian questions the bartender, he keeps tabs on the rest of the bar.

Michael, like argal, attempts to make it clear that he too is willing to finish any fight started in the inn. He stands just to the left of the doorway, watching the various patrons of the bar in case any try to attack his friends.

At the word adventures and seeing Michael and Argal the bartender and the patron seem to realise that you aren't just random people but seasoned adventurer.
Hesitantly the bartenter respond, "Well, hum, something happen that changed a lot of people into very weird creature. In the beginning everyone kind of panicked. Lot's of people have gained some weird power and they lose controle of them, we have a number of dead, a few fire and other accident. The cleric and the mage finnaly manage to regain some mesure of control on the situation has ordered the quarantine of the town and those that were the most changed to be isolated in a area of the town for the moment. We call it the holding pen."
He look at you anxiously waiting for you response.

Mercifully the inn didn't seem to be exploding into a brawl, so Charis instead warped to the top of one of the taller buildings for another look around.

From the top of a tower Charis can see the a part of the city to east as been closed using wooden barricade on the street.

"Regain some mesure of control? Who are these two exactly? we need some experts to see what's really going on... or at least tell them they won't be able to isolate half the country. The crysis erruped like, yesterday morning, when people woke up?"

Holding pens... I *really* dislike that attittude....(thinking to self)

"These two ? Oh, yes my appology we call them that here, I mean the cleric council and the mage guild. As for regaining control, well I don't know probably until they can reverse the change or make sure that they're no more problem. I even heard that most of the cleric and mage that have been changed have volountered to stay in the pen. Currently all the other are in the temple of Boccob discusing the situation. And hum yes it begin yesterday morning pretty early when people began screaming.

"Then I think we will head for the this temple of whatever god... A large group of magicians may know something. Just locking people up won't help..."

Titian gives a look to his friends, waiting for aproval of the idea. If ok, Titian then takes the directions for the temple and is ready to leave

(OOC: Going there could be risky. it may be like "oh god! they have templates! attack in suicidal fashion!" but otherwise we would just have to leave the city emptyhanded)

OOC: I will assume that the other agree and follow allong. I would like a little more participation from now one however.

You all manage to left the Inn without trouble. Charis get down and follow allong.
The temple aren't really far when you get to the city sqare you spot a number of priest on the step of the biggest temple that you can recognize at bellonging to Boccob. They stop talking when they spot you and when you approch they all give you long curious look. Finally one of them adress you, "Normally I would welcome you but under the circumstances, you'll have to excuses me if I'll go directly to the question. Who are you and how did you enter our town ?"

"I think the real question is why you've incarcerated people who have committed no crime except panicking, which given the circumstances is a perfectly valid response. Look at us, we're not murderous monsters. Release them immediately."

[zagan]

"Hum, what are you ? Ah you mean the close quarter ? I don't know what you heard but for your information it's only a very temporary mesure tomorow morning we will let everyone go. It was mostly to protect them from the rest of the populace and not the other way around."
He look a little insult by your presomption.

Have you made any progress finding out what caused the changes, or how to fix it? Michael asks, hoping that the many priest of Boccob would have some clue as to how to fix things.

"And it's extent as well... the wildness to the south is filled with mechanical squirells and winged ogres. How much of the country is affected?"

[zagan]

The priest seem exasperate by those question he probable has been ask the same thing multiple time today, "No we still don't know what cause it or how to reverse it. As far as we know it has affected the whole continent or at least all the city we manage to contact. Now could you tell me who you all are and how you get here ?"

"We're adventurers. We jumped over the wall...."
(there's some hint of pride on Titian's words)

"we woke changed yesterday and came here thinking you could have more information, but...

(OOC: I'm thinking on searching for some archmage or maybe ask to some extraplanar beings (with spells) for any clues... unless, say, this city is in desperate need for adventurers)

"Adventurer, hum. I should have guess. Hey, wait a minute." He turn toward the other priest and ask, "Didn't the hight priest said that he want to send someone to see the oracle ?" After a pause the other nod and he turn back to you.
"Wait here we may have a job for you."
He goes inside and return as promised a few minute later.
"Yes the hight priest confirm it. If you're willing we have something for you. You would need to travel to the top of the mountain south-west of here and find the pool of the oracle to ask it question on the present situation are you interest ?"

"With my power." Argal noted after Titian's walljumping comment. After the priest presented the quest, he seemed intrigued. "I don't think I wan't to be back in my normal form, but the quest seems worthwhile, especially for the citizens here."

Part of me agrees with argal. These new forms have some excellent accessories to what I normally do. However, another part of me just wants to be normal again. I think we should go see this oracle. Perhaps we can find a way for only those who want to change back to change.

[zagan]

"Yes, other think the same. It will depend entierly on the what we learn about it. We will of course continue to search on our own in the meantime."

Roland speak up saying that he was willing to go because it was a good cause and becsause he doesn't want to stay like that. Aukel on the other hand was undecided on the change but was willing to go.

The priest wait for Titian and Charis to speak up.

"Good. someone who could actually help. I'm in."

Titian gives a serious look to one of his tentacle that were coming out. He was still so unsure about them... specially on the dree of control of those things. if he could use thte tentacles... could the tentacles use him?

"Besides the task, will you give us anything?" Altought not greddy, Titian knows that a few scrolls or better wepons allways can be put to good use when life hangs in the balace...

"So long as I have your word that all those changed will be released before we leave tomorrow then I will gladly aid you. I'm fortunate enough to have only been changed slightly, those who's modifications are more extreme have my sympathies, and I'll do what I can to help."

"I can promise you that, it was planned from the start." he look relieved now that you have all aggred to the mission. He take out some paper and hand one to each of you.
"These are money bond, they're worth 500 gold each and you can use them anywhere in the city, if you prefer real gold we can arrange that too. If anyone ask just say that you are on a mission from the church of Boccob."
To Titian he hand another paper a bigger one, "This a map that should guide you toward the oracle. Do you have any other question ?"

"I think that's it... how long is the travel again? I think I'll buy some climbing equipment..."

(Is there something like a masterwork climber's kit? for how much? Other then that I'm ready to hit the road still today)

"I depend on your travel speed but it's pretty far and the climb is not easy I heard. I'll say a week and a half at least if you go on foot."

[Kobold-Bard]

"Nah. I'm like a Kobold, I can live off tree bark and rocks if I need to. Better to just be on our way."

Although he does stop for a moment. "Unless there's a temple here that might be willing to donate a few potions to fight any poisons or diseases we might come up against. Who knows how these transformations have manifested, they could be a very real danger.
