The Secret of Trottelburg IC

He glances down with a look of vague disgust at the black splatter on his shirt.

"Yeah, that was me. You don't think those creatures just died on their own, did you?"

Now aware of the stain, he begins to try and scrub it off.

"Well, I suppose you all better be settled in. I will make sure that there are something to guide you in the morning, and that this house is safe. Good luck."

With this, the domovoi vanishes into the shadows of the laboratory.

"That was a nice talk," Meeka says as she snuggles into the sleeping bag.

[MarvinMartian]

Randolf settles in for the night releaved that the stain's origin has been satisfactorily explained.

[Doombringer]

Crugretor had been walking for days now..tired and looking for shelter he would find a safe place to rest the town was still a long way off according to several passerby's on the path he found. He had not ran into any trouble as of yet and for that he was thankful. "Thank you of great Obadi-Hai for protecting your humble servant."

You are alerted to the rising sun by the chirping of 01-X's pet bird. The morning has come a bit more early then you would like, but your sleep was restful and without event.

Professor Eisenhardt comes out of his room, wearing a set of pajamas with little gears and clockwork patterns stitched into them. He stretches his arms lazily and approaches the group.

"Well, I suppose you best be going. Luckily for you I have prepared a way for you to exit town quickly without having to deal with zese creatures."

Telim responds. "That sounds good. The sooner we can track down the druid's leader, the sooner we can stop this..."

The professor cuts him off. "You're staying here."

"...Menace. Excuse me, but what?"

"Until your friends can get me some information from a more powerful magic user, you'll have to make due. You have some healing skills, right? Come, help me put them to use."

Telim looks like he's going to say something in argument, but stops and sighs.

"You're right. Whatever I can do to help these poor people, I am happy to."

The professor smiles, and leads the rest of the corner of the room.

"Now luckily, I live against the corner of the town wall, so you can avoid having to make your way all the way back to the entrance. I've just taken a ladder, and propped it up against the roof. You can just take that out. Hopefully, that spirit's friend will take you the rest of the way."

You take the ladder over the town wall without trouble. After just a few minutes of walking, you come to a tall oak tree with an upward pointing arrow carved clearly into it.

Ack, sorry for the confusion. This entire campaign so far has taken course over a little less then a day. I'll try and correct for the time difference.

Crugretor awakens insides of the druids' tent to the sound of commotion outside. A small elf girl enters the tent, a written message in hand.

"Um, hello there," she says shyly, "I've got a message from Glenn. He says that he's sorry that he cannot see you off, but his father has just passed away, and he has to help take care of the funeral services. He also requests for you to attend, but says that it's completely optional, and doesn't wish to pressure you." She coughs, and looks at the note again. "Yeah, that's all I have here."

Crugretor looked to her and smiled before saying "Tell Glenn I will be there." He took the passing as a sign that maybe he needed to stay a little longer and help these people. Crugretor then looked to the young girl and smiled "Are you feeling alright?" Yes he heard the cough and wanted to make sure... if she was sick he would tend to her and if not he would ask to be excused to ready himself for the funeral or right of passage for the elder druid.

[Parlity]

She looks up the tree. "Hello, is there someone up there?" she says.

"Oh, I'm ok, I suppose," says the elf girl. "I mean, I'm not really used to all this commotion. I mean, it's a sad day, of course, but I never really knew the elder all that well, so I mean, it's all just a little strange to me, I mean. Thanks for asking, I guess." She fiddles with her fingers a bit, then adds, "The funeral services, aren't going to start for another two hours, I think. If you'd like, I suppose you can go around and talk with whoever's not too busy. I suppose."

Meeka receives no response except for a faint rustling in the trees.

Crugretor looked to the elf girl and smiled. "Well I am talking to you at the moment now aren't I?" He watched her fiddle her thumbs before saying "Am I making you nervous..I promise I won't bite you." He laughed a bit before standing and rolling up his bedroll. "What is your name?"

I was able to post, yay! Greetings from Copenhagen! I'm of to Paris in a few hours.

Blushing slightly, the elf girl points to herself and says, "Cait."

Dawdling for a moment, she then turns back to Crugretor and asks, "So where ya from? It's not too often that we get other elf breeds around here, I mean."

Slowly, a small nut-brown hand emerges from the leaves of the tree. It gestures for you to move forward, and then quickly dives back into the safety of the leaves.

[Doombringer]

"I am from the woods..the ones just south of here." Crugretor smiled and soon he was ready to move to the rituals before saying. "Though we don't have elven ladies nearly as pretty as you there." He thought for a moment."Any place I can get something to eat around here?"

[sciencepanda]

Clearly flustered, the young elf's pale green face flushes a deep scarlet. "Oh...Um, well, I'm sure that you set your standards a bit low with me. But, yes, I think I saw some of the older ladies making some stew outside, you can, um, I mean, you can come join me if you'd like, I guess."

[Parlity]

Meeka quietly says, "Thank you," and walks forward.

The group walks forward a bit more, only to find themselves at a similar looking oak tree with a downward pointing arrow carved into it. A small hand pokes its way out of the branches and points in the direction that you have previously came from.

[Parlity]

Meeka looks at Irethirra and Randolf for a moment. "Thank you," she says and walks back in the direction that the small hand pointed.

[Doombringer]

Crugretor looked to Cait and smiled "Right let us get going before it is all gone." He then followed her to where the cooking was going on nodding to the elders. Crugretor would then look to her and asked. "So Cait where should we sit?" He held his food and waited for her to lead the way not sure where everything went on in the camp ground.

Outside the tent, Crugretor can see that a massive bonfire has been lit inside the middle of the campgrounds. Various elves are hustling back and forth, setting up what looks to be a makeshift podium by the front of the larger tent, as well as making various ruins and incense.

Cait leads you over to a small table where three elderly elf women are seated. A smaller fire with a cauldron over it is lit next to the table, and periodically one of the old ladies will get up and stir it. Occasionally one will try to dip a finger in to taste, only for another to slap her hand and tell her to wait. The three are currently playing a game of cards, all the while perpetually bickering.

[Doombringer]

Crugretor simply looked about and seeing the elder women playing cards as well as ones hand being slapped he would stiffle a small chuckle. "Cait seems they are already busy with setting things up." He looked around and then said to her. "Is there something I should be doing?"

From behind you, you suddenly hear the sound of faint weeping, as well as a subtle smell of something burning.

Whirling around Randolf attempts to locate the source of the weeping, as well as localize the location of the burning smell...

Looking back in the direction you had come from, you realize that the arrangement of trees and rocks has apparently changed. It is as if the path now leads into an entirely different section of the forest.

The crying and burning smell come from this direction.

Meeka looks at Irethirra and Randolf. "Let's hurry and look," she whispers.

After several minutes of making your way back through the brush, you come to a moderately sized clearing. In the center is an enormous bonfire, surrounded by a variety of large tents. All around the campground, a variety of elves hustle about, some setting up a small podium next to what appears to be a small wooden casket.

While many of the elves are busy, some sit by the fire, sobbing loudly. Others try to console their depressed compatriots.

Off to the side of the camp is a small table where three older elves sit, playing cards while cooking something in a pot. Next to them is a small elf girl, and an older elf, who seems out of place, as he does not possess the green tinted skin and wood-brown hair of the rest.

Crugretor was talking to the small elf girl when he looked around to see what the others were doing seems this was more a celebration. Elven ears looked listened in to others and his hand gently rubbed that stone the elder druid had gave him. "I wonder what they will do once the funeral is over?" Crugretor thought about that and then shook if from his head Glenn would lead the people just fine.

Cait tilts her head to the side upon seeing these new people enter the camp. "Huh," she says, "More visitors. That's a bit weird. We seem to be pretty popular today."

Upon seeing the trio approach the campground, one of the forest elves puts down the leather tarp he had been setting up to approach the group.

"Goodness," he speaks somewhat quietly, as if he is a bit choked up or has something in the back of his throat, "I wasn't expected further visitors. You are certainly welcome to stay, although this is...not admittedly the best of times. Our village elder...my father, you see, he has recently passed away and we are nearly done preparing for the funeral services. You are welcome to stay, but we don't really have much to offer at the time being."

With a small bow, he adds, "My name is Glenn."

[CWater]

Irethírra nods slightly to Glenn, but doesn't say anything. If meeting some of her kin rises any emotion in the cold elf, her stone-carved-like face doesn't reveal it anyway.

[Parlity]

Grinning nervously, Meeka says very slowly, "Hello. My name is Meeka. I am sorry to hear about the funeral. We came here seeking an elder druid for help with a strange monster in Trottelburg."

She bows to Glenn. "This is Irethirra and Randolf," she says pointing at them.

[CWater]

"Yes, indeed, that was our goal", Irethírra speaks suddenly, "but it appears that", she continues silently, "we have come too late for that."

"My...condolences of your loss", she nods to Glenn again, "But is there anyone else in your village who would posses great knowledge of the arcane arts? The town we come from is really in grave danger."
