Vael kind of has a point. The wiki feels kind of redundant.

I should note that the wiki has additional information which is not in the character registry, and puts things in more logical places (so you don't need to go to Donovan's page if you want to find out about a cafe which involves multiple characters, assuming you know that he runs it). It also allows anyone to edit the info, instead of just the person who started the thread (if they stopped playing, the game could be crippled). Plus there's a search function.

I counter that the Character Registry is redundant. Give me one advantage which isn't "the buttons scare me!"

You don't have to join Wikidot. That said, Prime has a point.

You want a less confusing password? I could remove the password system entirely so that you can edit without registering at Wikidot, though there's a slight risk of vandalism.

Who did decide that the password should "Kch."? The period messes people up.

And lets not even get into the fact that half the players can't even use the wiki....

Yes. I can't figure out how to add a new tab to a character entry, despite the instructions there. ((mostly just a problem I need an answer for))

Instructions are in the template for new pages, but weren't when you created your character pages. It's [[tab Name of tab]]Content[[/tab]]

Registration system removed - now anyone can edit without creating an account or entering a password.

I think a lot of people don't know how to use it simply because they don't want to bother with it. Posting information and characters in our threads here is simply more convenient. We don't really need a wiki too.

Which is why it is so poorly updated.

Character information is easier to find on the registry, I may admit. But the wiki still holds a valuable purpose. That of containing setting information, differences from canon, group information, and the major events of the story so far. All of that can't fit in the first post and such and it's easier to access if it's properly put into the wiki. Heck, it's why I go to the wiki, for the setting information and the characters that ARE put up there. Hell, whenever I update my characters, I only update the wiki versions. >.>

Of course, it'll fall flat if only one or two people are forced to keep it together.

Yeah. I'm all for passwords. It's just that "Kch." in specific is rather confusing for newer people.

Being bugged by a Hollow in a wooden body who thinks he's a "good guy" isn't exactly at the top of the list....

'Good guy' even in quotes, finger or otherwise, is far too strong a term for The Coat Man. What he's doing is out of self-preservation. If someone benefits from it then that's just how the cards fall.

I suppose the graveyard bit could work potentially. And anything that might lead to a fight would certainly be worth avoiding. Fights attract unwanted attention.

In all honesty interacting with Roy at this point in the story wouldn't be terribly different from interacting with any of the human characters. Not like he's going to eat one's face or something.

Also, I do have to agree, "Kch." is a rather poor password, for one reason: the period. It is counterintuitive, because passwords never have periods, so you usually end up having to explain it to people, and it's confusing. Etc.

I could just require account registration, or I could require an account and a recommendation from another member.


And besides, I thought one of the issues was that people were too lazy to do that? Would requiring a Wikidot account but not a password be acceptable?

I cannot remove the part of the process where you register an account with Wikidot, which seems to be putting people off, unless I also remove the password.

Well, I think Prime is saying that even with a password, you still need a Wikidot account. But, I doubt needing to sign up for wikidot will be an obstacle for someone who really wants to add to the wiki.
