Re: Bibliography II
Actually, the pic reminds me of Angua in the Discworld books, and the complications mentioned in the book about werewolves and romance.
The short version is that, while the werewolf Angua is clearly in command and control of her environment and herself in every other circumstance, she has an instinctual weakness when dealing with her human boyfriend, Carrot, who she defers to as a matter of course. A couple friends of hers have pointed out that this is tied more to her canine heritage than to Carrot's insane charisma, one friend going so far as to suggest she'd come if he whistled. Another (a dog himself) claims that a werewolf is a creature caught between wolf and human, which places them in the same category as a dog, and thus the same basic traits apply. Now, Carrot has never hinted that he's aware of this dynamic, and is the sort of man who'd never abuse it if he knew, but it's one of the many obstacles attempting to drive a wedge between the two.
Okay, not so much of a "short version", but that is what I saw in the picture - the suggestion that Eve has formed a similar bond with Ben, rather than there being anything kinky going on. Even if nothing romantic ever springs from it (although the artist of the picture obviously assumes it will), she's pretty clearly marked Ben as "her" person, as the one person she will go to any length to protect in the finest tradition of her canine aspect.
Well, that's my take, anyway.Last edited by Calemyr; 2010-08-03 at 09:35 AM.

Yeah....I don't like Terry. Yeah, some things are bad form in a fight, but using one's brain shouldn't be lumped in there.
He fears his fate too much, and his reward is small, who will not put it to the touch, to win or lose it all.

The honor thing...well, you always try and use the opponents strengths against him. In fact, this one seems much more straight forward than most fighting styles.Last edited by Tavar; 2010-08-04 at 04:43 PM.

Re: Bibliography II
Nice update. It gives us some insight into Terry's personality. Though it remains to be seen if he's a chronic jerk or if he's just proud and mouthy.

Re: Bibliography II
Terry's line dosn't sit right with me. Oh yes, it sets him up as the classic arrogant kung-fu guy rival, but considering Gloria's intervention was all that saved him from the business end of spell 1 of the kick to the head codex; and I don't care how many fancy swords you have, a kick to the head is going to hurt.

I'm afraid you're all mistaken, as it is clearly the first spell in the "Show Me Your Moves" codex, Falcon Kick.

Re: Bibliography II
Issue with the Cretan Codex giving a bad sense of direction is that the Minotaur had a good one in the myths, as it was able to navigate the labyrinth to find its prey. Then again that might have just been a normal one from have lived there almost its whole life.

Re: Bibliography II
That was a bit of a sudden change, don't you think?
Oh cool, explanations!
I forgot about the Tropes page, honestly. I'll see what I can add. Terry would count as an Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy, I think, and if people would start calling him it more, Black-Haired Kenshin would become a Fan Nickname.

Interest hasn't waned here.
This whole "whitebox weapon doesn't trust you" thing sounds like an excuse for a level up at some critical point in the not-so-distant future. Also- what's with the egg in Ben's hair in that next to last panel?

Er, that's a bump on the head. You know, from hitting their heads together.
There's gotta be a trope for that...
