Ghosts WW
It's amazing how long someone can hold a grudge, or remember a wound, or seek for vengeance. Equally, the endurance of human love, laughter and kindness often surpass all expectations. In some places, at some times, these feelings can endure beyond death, holding a person to a semblance, a mimic, of life. Sometimes these half-lives are so strong that they can touch on the lives of the living, and sometimes the living are so greedy, so insane, that they reach out to touch the dead.
In an ancient house older than the hills, when the stars align with the planets in symbols of forgotten tongues, the living and the dead walk together.
This will be a standard WW game, in many ways, but there are a few unusual roles. My IT issues should be over now, so hopefully this game will last.
Team Good
SpoilerTownsperson: A townsperson has no particular powers, and merely wants to get on with their lives.
Archivist: With knowledge ancient beyond knowing, the archivist can recognize unusual activities for what they really are. Once per night, they may scry someone and learn if they are an Occultist (including the Psychic), a Spirit, or someone else.
Descendants: History has its little jokes sometimes, and the distant relatives of the Spirits have gathered here, as if by chance. If a spirit and their Descendant bond, then both know the other's identity.
Groundskeeper: Years upon years of experience with the house has left the groundskeeper with knowledge of byways and passages otherwise forgotten, and these may be used once per night to keep someone safe from any attacks.
Innocent: Millenia have passed since this Spirit died young. Even in death, cheer and warmth seem to exude from them, and the Innocent's host is immune to lynching while the Innocent is bonded to them.
Singer: The music of the dead is ethereal, transcendental, and enchanting. Once per night, the Singer chooses someone to infuse with this music, and they may take no action that night. This has no effect on Spirits.
Guardian: Good is not always nice, and the Guardian understands this fully. Once per two nights, the Guardian may make a night-kill.
Team Bad
SpoilerOccultist: The Occultists aim to control both the house and the spirits, and are unlikely to be stopped in this task. They vote on night-kills.
Psychic: The Psychic, while a fraud, is still an incredible reader of people, and may determine one person's role per night. They also vote with the Occultists on night-kills.
Madman: The Madman is bound to reality only by his refusal to accept it as real, and the perceptions of those he comes in contact with are often distorted. Once per night, he can pick one person. Any night actions that that person takes are directed against a random other person.
Speaker with the Beyond: While almost as mad as the Madman, the driving force of the Speaker with the Beyond is simple and pure hatred for all that is not from the realms that he has achieved rapport with. When the Speaker with the Beyond, or their host, dies, one person involved in the killing is instantly slain by the terrible backlash of power.
Mourner: The Mourner is a tragic being, driven by despair and sadness. Those touched by the Mourner feel a tiny part of themselves die. Once per night, the Mourner may touch a person. That person is forever after "dead" inside, counting as dead for the purposes of the Singer's music and being unaffected by the Innocent's power (if they vote against the Innocent's host, the power is broken for that day, and the Innocent cannot protect them.)
Spirits
SpoilerSpirits are slightly unusual roles, in that they have an additional ability beyond their normal ability. Once per night, each Spirit chooses a person to "bond" to. The person (or "host") is informed that a Spirit has bonded to them, and the host and Spirit may PM each other freely until the Spirit bonds to someone else. If two Spirits attempt to bond to the same host, they both "bounce" to a random person.
This is a no-PM game, but OOC discussion is fine. Anyone interested?

If I creep into your house in the dead of night and strangle you while you sleep, you probably messed up your grammar.

Re: Ghosts WW
Sounds interesting... when are you planning on starting the game? (So I can work out whether I can join or not)

Re: Ghosts WW
Yay! People!
Sorry for the slow response, it took so long to get approval that I nearly gave up.
Strictly speaking, the game should start in the next few days, but I suspect that with this few people it really won't play well. I'll see about getting an extension on recruiting. If I creep into your house in the dead of night and strangle you while you sleep, you probably messed up your grammar.

Re: Ghosts WW
The thought occured to me, but the schedule in WW central doesn't have this game marked as being limited to twenty players and Random_person hasn't said anything even though the player list in the first post is up to twenty. Besides, it can't hurt to ask, right? I don't mind if he turns me down.

Re: Ghosts WW
That's 22, which should be marginally enough. Recruitment will close in 24 hours, at which point I will generate roles and post the opening narration.
