Greetings, players. tonight (?) we have a nice surprise for you today--were taking a short trip to hell! isnt that exciting!?

there are no chests in this map.

my advice: since none of you can reach the enemy at the start (i think), it'd be good to play defensively early on.

Zion appeared in a field of lava. He looked at his surroundings, and began to mutter to himself. "...I am summoned. I... must protect these people. They... lack armor like mine."

He looked around at the small band of mages, and the mounted man.

"Everyone... get behind me. I... shall protect you."

(Spawn at P5 and move up one.)

Why did I bother to make map sprites?

A pair of hooves hit the ground at the other side of Zion. "Get behind me, and our sudden materialising friend here." When you're in HELL, anyone who wants to protect you is your friend. A thought strikes Callum.

"...Say, do any of you remember dying at all?" Why was he in Hell, anyway? And where was this? He'd read about the circle of hell devoted to treachery and deceit, but this looked nothing like it, although admittedly that bloke in the city had been rather keen to get it off his hands. Callum got the feeling that he wasn't actually dead, but for the life of him he couldn't figure out what was telling him that.

(Spawn at P7 and move up one.. I think it's better to hold back regardless, as we can't actually reach anyone and I doubt the mages in the back can be reached.)

[Actually, I'm moving to O5. I can take the hits. But, first, I'll check how much the mages can deal. (Callum deals 7, Zion deals 9, Gargoyles have 19 health)

Plus, the healer could use the exp.

Okay, Jennifer deals a square 14, and Devinnata deals... around 11. So, they could take out the 'goyles after they hit Zion (unless I miss, but then he can try again.) So, the first two turns are pretty much ready, we just need the roller.]

Zion turns to look at the mounted man.

"Yes, death... I remember..." he looks off into the distance. "However, you... are not dead. ...I... would know. ...You do not appear as one of the dead. ...I... will guide you. Until... you can find... why you are here."

Herod popped into the room and examined it in wonder. The demon summoning spell had worked, but not quite as he had hoped. Around him were two mages, a horseman, and a walking pile of armor.

Reluctantly, he flips the switch on his staff from "Summon horde of demons" to "Heal"
"Everyone! Come to me vor healing!"

Zion looks at the healer, his tone unchanging. "Yes... healing. I... will require your... services momentarily." He then turns to the shaman. "Don't go any further. Those creatures... would gut you... if given the chance. You lack the armor myself and this mounted man have. ...Don't put yourself on the front lines."

Devinnata looks at the surrounding enemy"Lets get going. My magic needs some more victims.....I mean, wait no i DO mean victims. I shall make them burn with the fires from hell!" an excited look appers in her eyes. Her eyes sparkle as she imagins that she is burning them "This will be fun"

Zion steps forward, readying his lance.

"...We are all here. The demons come."

upon noticing the party's presence, the head gargoyle lets out a guttural howl, rousing the others to action. The four lesser gargoyles immedeately spring into the air with cries of their own, setting upon the party with gleeful expressions.
the two wargs near the head gargoyle howl into the smoky air, but otherwise remain where they are.

The two lesser gargoyles closest to the party attack zion, The first attack skittering down Zion's armor with a shower of sparks (Gargoyle1 attack MISS), Zion returns a blow reflexitively, wounding the beast (Zion counterattack HITS, dealing 9 damage).

In the same motion, he turns to intercept the second gargoyle attacking from his right, whose spear finds a weakness in the armor near Zion's elbow (Gargoyle2 attack HITS, dealing 2 damage). The pain from the attack throws Zion's aim off, his counteratack striking only air (Zion counterattack MISS).

i just realized i havent chosen how battles will be calculated... okay, for the time being i'll be using a single roll with summoner's system for determining hit, crit, etc. with the exception of the attack speed being determined by CON rather than STR--until someone points out how horrifyingly wrong that is, anyway.

and i am very new to this, so feel free to double-check my numbers if you think there's any problems.

in Fe 7+8 hit is calaculated as weapon Acc +skillx2, and +luck/2 in this hit is weapon Acc+skillx2,+luck

Jennifer kills the gargoyle on the left from P6, and Devinnata kills the other from N6. Zion then moves to N7 to take the next gargoyle's attack. Callum mops up anything that lives due to a miss. Alternatively, Zion mops up and Callum takes the hit, if Zion misses either gargoyle.)

...and it seems i'm blind now. i noticed mot classes got to choose from either a javelin or an iron lance, i didnt think to check class-by-class.

EDIT: uhh... can someone help translate the EXP gain formula? i'm getting 30.5 XP per non-kill battle here, but i'm not sure.

Okay, I had a feeling Zion would miss one of them. No matter. So, Zion hits the weakened gargoyle, and Callum finishes it. The mages take care of the other one. Herod heals Zion. Lessee... Zion moves to Q4 (I think that's the right Gargoyle), Callum moves to P5, Jennifer and Devinnata move to P6 and
P7. Herod moves to Q5 to heal Zion.)



Zion phased out of tangibility to avoid the first beast's attack. Unfortunately, the second's hit left him unable to return a strike. Zion looked at the others. "Don't worry, it is... only a scratch. I can take... many more. Finish the beast. I shall strike this one again. You, sir, destroy it when I catch it off balance." His eyes turn towards the healer. "You are a healer... I said I would require... your services. Please."

Callum decides not to question the metaphysical impossibility of being where he is, as he has more important things to do. Like fighting for his life. "That, I can deal with." As soon as Zion shifts out of the way and delivers his strike, Callum marshals his wits, courage and considerable amounts of confusion and rides right into the thick of it, aiming to impale the injured... thing before it could harm his allies, before it could take another innocent life... But mostly he just stabbed it to avoid getting hit back. Wait, did that bloke in the armour just temporarily phase out of existence?

(So, Callum will advance to P5 after Zion has moved. He will attack the injured gargoyle after Zion hits it. )

Herod heard a cry of '...Healer...' sprout from the walking pile of armor. Running over, he saw it had a small scratch on its armor. Not exactly healer fare, but he wasn't complaining. After all, it was the only thing between him and the demons.

Move to Q5 (after Zion) and heal Zion.

Zion stood and watched as the healer magically treated the dent in his armor. "Thank you. I know... it was only a scratch... but as you are... inexperienced... I think you should take every chance that you are offered."
