"So it devours caravans and paladins alike..." Aki muses. "Interesting. Its indiscriminate nature suggests we should have no trouble attracting whatever this is."

"I would like to speak to the caravan guild master before we plunge headlong into this task, however. Just in case he knows anything pertinent."

At the mention of maps, Velir rises and crosses to a table behind you where there are a number of rolls of parchment. The High Priest picks up one, examines it and unrolls it, using a few metal paperweights to secure it to the table.

From what we have been able to tell, it's about here, he said, pointing to a section of road heading northwest from Ravenstar. Starts just north of the village of Arvenar, and I've since learned they've blocked the road there and have tried to stop people from ging through. So the caravans have been following the coast road, which has its own problems.

He picks up a blank piece of parchment and crosses to a desk near the window, writing something on it with a quill and then holding a lit candle over the parchment to drip wax which he presses down with one of his rings.

He holds out the parchment with the still-dripping to Arthur. This gives you and your companions the authority for any reasonable actions under the precepts of our order. It should be enough to convince most who question you. He then adds, as if on an afterthought, The guild master you can find within Ravenstar's civic offices, it's not far from here. Is there anything else you wish to know?

Brother Gerigar is in charge of a small chapel in Arvrenar, Velir says, crossing back to his chair and sitting down. If there is nothing else I can assit you with, then good journeys to you all. May the light of Pelor guide you.

At his summons, an acolyte comes and escorts you out of the temple.

Maharal breaks off from humming along to the tune of the song at Aki's words, looking a bit startled that the others hadn't appreciated the traditional dwarven song as much as he had. "I had been enjoying the song myself, Aki - Travok has a fine singing voice, and it reminds me of home. You travel north along the road for several days, occasionally meet groups heading south and in the same direction as you. Yet after the the third day, when you pass a fork in the raod that leads west, you meet no more people on the road.

At nightfall, on the fourth day out from Ravenstar, you arrive in Arvrenar. A small village on the edge of a large forest. There is an inn beside the road, with most of the village behind it. Just ahead of the inn where the forest begins to line both sides of the road, a fallen tree lies across it.

Though you cannot see very far along the road, from what you can see the road is clear.

The door to the inn opens and a young woman pokes her head out. Travellers? she says, Come in, come in! It bodes no one any good to be standing outside in these different times at nightfall. She opens the door and beckons you forward. You can see her outlined by the light within the inn, her hair is fair and braided down her back, she wears a rough skirt and shirt, the latter of which is rolled-up at her elbows. I am Eledseri, and I bid you welcome to the Three Bells.

KT-937 follows the others in, looking back towards the downed log. He could not tell the difference himself, but he trusted his companions opinions on the matter. He nods to the woman, "Greeting Eledseri. Thank you for your hospitality." he had long since learned that his kind was very unwanted by innkeepers. Not so much for being simply who he was, but because he makes a horrible customer. he does not eat, does not drink, and does not need a room to sleep in. To counter this he has learned to be respectful to the inn owners.
