Sure looks like a halberd to me. They come in a lot of different shapes, this one is close to what he has in the comic.

But don't halberds have the spear-pointy piece on top along with the axe blade? That's why halberds are such great weapons, they're a spear and an axe combined.

Personally, the coloring of the second one actually works well. It creates a sort of oppressive atmosphere where Lloyd feels alone with his thoughts and secrets. Tinder's question sort of surrounds him. The fan-art posted so far has all been pretty good, actually. Zanaril's drawing of Lloyd makes him look grim, in a cool way.

Yep. Prince Riley is about to be crowned King of Laria, and Saphrin was supposed to be the ambassador from the elven lands, but part of the academy blew up so she couldn't go, and Serrin's going in her place.
