Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
I think it could be interesting. I have to ask, would it be entirely Free Form, or would there be a GM of sorts? Or possibly some odd hybrid....that happens a lot here.

You can count it mostly as a semi where the GM won't have full reins over the RP, just minor missions and an occasional nudge to maintain a storyline.

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
This sounds interesting so it's going to be like Ancient Rome with all the slaves?
This is my first thought thinking on it unless there's a bunch of people are Ancient Rome nuts[but there is actually good story's there] I don't think the Ancient Rome will work.
Ok this sounds interesting but is that going to be all? You need a better hoke then a lot of slaves and dudes being slave owners. Add more to it like dragons being there running everything or undead slaves and more stuff to make a better hoke.Last edited by Findpathfencer; 2014-01-10 at 05:32 PM.

I'm sorry, but where did you read anything about slaves or Romans in his post? You made a whole paragraph on an assumption and now I'm lost.

The biggest problem with it is there really isn't anything special with it.and slaves aren't special.
If it sounds like I'm trolling I'm really not.

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
Hey guys. I've got some interest in getting some practice and advice for FFRPs, though I'm not sure if it'll be here that I do so. I have some amount of history with FFRPs, but it's been years since I've been involved in one since my introduction to more structured systems, which, while enjoyable, are not necessarily what I'm looking for in a game right now.
Any advice, suggestions, or links thereto would be appreciated!Formerly known as Cariyaga.

I may have to wait and see how the tone unfolds first, but I admit that this Two Halves idea does sound interesting. Either way, here's to the development of a successful RP scenario.

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
Wow, glad that so many people are liking it.
But before you proceed any further, let me present another of my ideas as a contender. Then let me know which one you still like better.
So here's what's in my mind.
The setting is a mixture of Post Medieval and
Steampunk.
The basic premise is this:
You are the personal guards to a King whom you
serve loyally and protect from assassins on a regular basis. However, come night, your outlook
starts to change and you start to become darker
and murderous. This is your Sellsword Streak
kicking in. Every night, whenever the moonlight
falls on your eyes, the transformation kicks in and
while you physically stay and look the same, inside, you become something else.
So Knight by day, Assassin/Mercenary by night.
And the best part is that your memories are isolated
meaning you'll remember your Knight memories
only in the day and your Sellsword memories at
night. The question is, how long till the contract is on your
own king?
So what say? Challenging?

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
Now THAT is an idea I could get behind. Definitely worth keeping an eye on it as it develops.
My question is, what roles, if any, could a player take aside from heroes? After all, unless you'd be DMing the scenario, it might be difficult to establish character relationships and/or conflicts if players can only take one side.

aric, why do you prefer The Gunblade Theory out of the two? I am just asking because I need to smooth out the flaws so if you could help me out here.
I didn't get your question Imp, could you clarify with some example?

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
Well, from what you've mentioned, it seems like there are only two main roles to be played: the king and the knights/mercenaries. Could the players choose instead to create, say, a recurring villain? Maybe a target that decides to fight back instead of taking death lying down? Perhaps there's some underlying element pulling strings on one side or the other (or both)? Or will you be acting as DM and managing supporting and outside elements while players act out only the heroes as described previously?

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
I felt like the Knight/Assassin idea would be better as a movie than a RP. I personally find it difficult to create a character and then keep his/her personality intact, and I feel like having the character be split between identities would be too complicated. If I tried that, the two identities would blend together too much. Also, I really think the gunblade theory could be really fun to play, and I've grown fond of The Nexus' mix of medieval and modern weaponry. Still haven't decided which side I'll take.

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
Imp, tell you what, I'll keep the Sellsword side common but in your day alter ego, you can be anybody you want, not just a Knight. Hell, you can be a weak, incapable assassin in the day. How does that sound?
Aric, in some aspects, your observation there is right there. It can be slightly tough trying to manage both lives. In that aspect, the TGT sounds like a much more well-oiled machine, disjoint, but well-oiled.
Okay, now I am torn.

Should there be two ICs for 2 alter egos? Would it be easier on you guys?

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
You mean separate IC threads for Knights and for Sellswords? Maybe it's just me, but I feel like that might get too confusing. I suggest we try to avoid going back and forth between threads, especially if it's going to be happening every time day turns to night and vice-versa.

So, I don't know where to RP. At all. Like, where do I make a persona to use, and how limited am I? Could I make, say, a Tiefling Bard, and just crack jokes and sing songs in some tavern?

Yes. You can do that in the Nexus. That's not even close to the craziest character idea out there. We've had sentient beer before. And we have several taverns.

Hi! I'm Allusia, and I'm really interested in starting a roleplay or joining a roleplay with a similar story to the Game The Last of Us. It takes place in a post apocalyptic world were a fungal infection has turn people into rabid horrid zombie like things! If you know of a place, let me know!

Hello, Allusia. As of yet, there is no such place, but I think it could be a fun idea, especially if some experienced roleplayers join.

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
If you want to start something like that, I would suggest taking it to the Recruitment subforum and just collecting a small group. While this is an excellent subforum, it's very firmly entrenched in the established settings and it's difficult to get a toehold. RWBY managed it, but CHB is struggling a little (I think, anyway), and one of the other recent ones (WoS, I think) just died. Those are the sum total of all the recent RPs that have started here since I joined about 10 months ago - not many, and only one has managed to thrive.
The sort of RP you're talking about would be much better as a small, closed game, as you'd have a small group of players as the survivors and a GM (yourself) running the zombies. Or even the other way around - the players have to spread the infection. As a setting here, I feel that it has too high a chance of dying.
Just my thoughts on the matter. Whichever way you decide, I will definitely be joining.

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
Using Recruitment is always a good idea, even if the game will be a freeform one held in this subforum. People in Recruitment are looking for new games to join, while the people here are already involved in rp. In fact, I doubt most of the experienced freeformers even read this thread, since it's specifically set up to help newcomers.
Good luck.My avatar! Isn't it just utterly diabolical? Ashen Lilies made it!
