So, I kind of want to start a new realm here. Something along the lines of DB and Bleach and such. Actually, it's one that was attempted before, but I guess it didn't go anywhere. Hopefully, the interest for it will be greater this time around.

I want to do a Fallout ITP.

I'd be placing it in an area not in any of the games. But, I won't be ignoring any of the lore from the games. Not sure if I want the timeline to be before or after 4 yet. Mostly because I still haven't played 4.

So, figured I'd gauge the interest in it here before I start a thread for it. Anybody interested?

I, also, am interested in Fallout RP. Bringing back my Vault Dweller who grew up in a light-limited environment (to see how people adapted to low-light conditions, with the excuse it was a 'security feature... Though to be fair, the lighting is low enough to severely hamper anybody unfamiliar with a Vault's layout) and who was exiled for murdering the Overseer's son when he got too insistent.

Not too fussed on the 'when', because whilst I've played Fallout 4 and enjoy it, I am a chronic restarter meaning I'm not likely to reach the end of it... ever, really.

Well, I'm a tad disappointed in how long I've been reading OOTS and never stopping to look at the other tabs on this website. And then I poke around a bit and find a freeform roleplaying section!

To be clear: I have some experience writing, but this is my first post ever on a forum. I read the advice given, but I'm still a tad unsure of how to start, and thought I should say hello first.

So, hello all you lovely more experienced people! Any extra advice out there?

For Nexus you can literally just post in one of the public threads if you would rather not set something up in the ooc, for the others you might want to use the respective OOC threads.

In my opinion, the best place to start would be Trog's Tavern. All good adventures start in a tavern.

Any of the various Nexus inns/taverns are good to start. Or Inside if you just want to be wandering around.

Things can move a little slowly here. Depends on people's schedules. I work two jobs, so some days, I can't post much.

Well, good thing about the Nexus is that pretty much anything can fit there. Characters I've used there have included an elemental martial artist, a sociopathic merc, an Autobot, a Marvel mutant, a Keyblade using vampire, and a sith tiefling.

Also, don't really need to have much backstory for your character in the Nexus. You can let your adventures there build a backstory for you.

So, it's a good place to toss something in and see what happens.

I never actually heard about that race until I saw it mentioned in your directory entry, so I don't have many ideas actually.
Any of the cities, or the taverns, are popular starting locations in the nexus.

There is a Naruto ITP set in the past that hasn't started going yet.

There are two Bleach roleplays, one set in the present but seems to be trying to end, and another just beginning thats way in the past.

and there is a Dragon Ball roleplay also set in the past.

all are an anime fantasy settings of course, none of them connected to Nexus. any of these strike your fancy, or no?

It is not, though I'm not sure if fallout counts as "fantasy". Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there are any fantasy-universes besides the anime ones, as has been pointed out.

Wish I could help, but I never get too involved in one specific setting, I prefer making up my own ones rather than using someone else. Unless, of course, it happens to be warcraft.

Well a few character concepts of mine would benefit more from a general fantasy setting rather than Nexus, because it seems a little TOO accepting of weirdness and is a little TOO seen-it-all for some of them to work without the character arcs instantly getting solved, while all the anime settings are generally too specific for them to work the way I want them to. that and whenever I try to roleplay Nexus there doesn't seem to be anything meaningful to do or adventures to go on, and it just falls flat, with everyone talking about slice-of-life stuff.

I agree actually, there is a lot of slice of life in the nexus since the old players primarily are interested in just that.
The issue, in my opinion, is that few players actually want to GM adventurers, they want their characters to go on adventures and plots, but they aren't willing to make ones for other people. I don't blame them for this as GM'ing takes a lot more effort than just playing a character, I myself GM a lot of adventures in the nexus, and I know such posts take more of my time than post for one of my characters.

I can only think of a few but myself that actually GM anything in the nexus right now, so I can understand if you feel like you lack adventurers to go on. A lot of new players enter the nexus expecting combat and adventures, but then people are just talking since no one really wants to GM said adventures.

I'm up for GMing stuff in Nexus. Though, I'm not sure now's the best time for me to start- posts and plots tend to go quite slow, and I rarely post Thursdays due to real-life social club, and I'm going on holiday from the twelfth for a week. It's just bad luck that the one I sent you on, Raziere, included a shop whose player isn't around- or doesn't seem to be.

Eh, we don't really have anything to do with the world-building forum. Its just there for the sake of world-building, no one here would pay attention to it.

the main thing is probably just asking the important questions:
-what scope do we want for this setting? how big? is there one world, many worlds, and if there many worlds how supernatural are they?
-what are the spellcasters like? because thats very important and will affect how people exploit the rules of those spellcasters to accomplish things and if you make them too powerful we can easily end up with reality warping gods
-what would be the stance on fantasy races? are there many? not a lot? are they inherently harmful or can they live in peace with humanity? are they the latter but have complex social problems that cause conflict like the real world?
-what would the politics be? are we focusing on clashes of empires and wars? are the nations weak and in trouble for adventurers?
-what is the difference between a monster to kill and a person that you can negotiate with?

so and so forth along those lines. I have my own ideas and you probably have yours that are probably different because of the inherently wide and expansive nature of fantasy. it would be best if we talked out what we each want and try to make the world to serve the purposes we want rather than trying to make it consistent without considering what we want from it.

like for example, I want action, some adventure, high power stuff but not too much to feel as if nothing is a challenge, I want to fight evil but I don't like DnD morality and how it does it, particularly with the fantasy races, nor do I like how DnD lets wizards be gods who can solve everything so I don't want that, but I still want high power and lots of fantasy races and since this is freeform, we don't need to be worried about the fighter not being as good as the mage, we can just come up with any explanation we want for them being equal, its our fantasy after all. but those might not jive with what you have in mind for some reason and we'll have to just work that out.
