Still quite long though, can't imagine how you could stand it to have been any longer than that. O.o
Mine gets to be an inch long, and I start to freak so I can't relate to long hair at all.

It's dinner! 2lbs boneless chicken breasts, 2 cans cream of mushroom, slowcooked for 12 hours, add peas and carrots for the last hour or so! OMNOMNOM!

Yep, thats a bear all right. And the tiny yellow thing at the base of the tree is a housecat. According to the article, he's declawed! Stupid bear.
As to how he got down, the cat's owner called him inside, the bear didn't budge until the cat was gone.

And for those who asked/noticed, yes the sword is a replica of Sting. Bought from Cash Converters for the grand total of 30 bucks. Still, now we can say we have a sword on the mantlepiece, and a lightsaber (Luke's) on the DVD shelf. And a welcome mat that reads 'There's no place like 127.0.0.1 - yeah, we're geeks.
