I love Oda's bs answers. Like how Nami can hurt Luffy because she hits his heart or something like that... there was another good one but I forgot.

No comment on the new chap yet?!

So, Hody kills Decken to destroy the Straw Hats. And thousands of other people. Wow, he really is ruthless on the level of a Tenryuubito... Time for Luffy to teach him a lesson... Can't wait for it.

The... Giant guy gets pumped with steroids and Jinbei and Sanji will take him down soon. See no match there even if he beat a Kraken.

And Zoro steals Robin's opponent. I guess she didn't wanthim anyway. But same here, Zoro will probably curb stomp him, even with his poison. (He was the poison guy, right?)

I don't remember poison being mentioned, but it wouldn't surprise me if he did, blue ring octopus and all. I kind of figured the resident swordsman would fight Zoro.

I'm guessing Chopper VS Cookie, but the others I'm not sure about.

Yeah, Hyouzou's poisonous, and it's apparently pretty deadly poison at that. He got Luffy with some earlier, but Luffy was immune because of that encounter with Magellan.

So does this mean that you'll eat your hat when it's revealed that he has the Sharingan instead?

It probably doesn't need to be said that I am not serious at all about this.

    Also, new chapter is out:

    Nami and Chopper vs. Daruma
Robin and Brook vs. Ikaros Much
Okay, so I was almost completely wrong for everyone. I have also just realized that both Robin and Nami lack a designated foe so far.

Anyway, Hodi Jones tries to get Shirahoshi while waiting for Van Der Decken to die. Decken finally passes (out), and Noah starts to fall.

Once again, I wonder how it is that Luffy will end up responsible for the destruction of Fishman island.

I was way off on the matchups too. Somewhere Oda is muching a carrot going, "Eh, ain't I a stinka?"

The prophecy involving Luffy is already coming to pass. Luffy never directly started anything, but he is a huge factor. If he hadn't arrived, Princess Shirahoshi would never have left the palace. If Princess Shirahoshi never left the palace, Van der Decken would never have thrown Noah at her. I think one of two things will... You know what? No. I'm done trying to predict Oda. If I say I think everyone survives he'll drown everyone just to screw with us. I'm keeping my mouth shut for their sake.

I watched episode 516, the last episode before the time skip, and it was pretty good. They did really drop the ball on animating Rayleigh's demonstration of armament haki, and that was pretty disappointing. However, it was made up by the new We Are remix used for the last few minutes of the episode. Also, they broke over 500 episodes of tradition by replacing the standard "To be Continued" screen with "Go to New World"

If there's one thing that I'm looking forward to most about the post-timeskip episodes, it's that now they will have to get rid of that annoying two minutes of recycled animation "It's the Great Pirate Era..." I may be petty for wanting it gone, but darn it, I'd prefer to have a real ending theme over that annoying part of every episode.

Speaking of deaths in OP.... I'm going to make myself an enemy of all OP fans but I'll say Ace' death was overdone. Actually, Bon's death (?) worked better for me. I liked him more, too.

I personally don't count Bon as dead, just captured. Barring Ace, Whitebeard, and flashbacks (being in someone's past is the leading cause of death in the One Piece universe), people who've supposedly died have a way of coming back. Got the crap kicked out of him, sure. But dead? Until I see his gravestone I'm not counting him as a casualty.

Ace's death was a really big deal just because it was the first real death in the series, but I have to kind of agree. It just seems really pointless that there were three arcs where the entire point was to rescue someone who ended up dying in the end.

To be clear, when I said that "Van der Decken finally passes (out)," "out" was in parentheses as more of a joke so that the sentence could be read as passes on (He's dead, Jim), or passes out.

Honestly, I don't think he's quite dead yet, but this is mostly because Pell is still alive today somehow.

Also, Bon-chan has to be alive, he's just gotta be!

Okay, I'm at least relieved Bon has a following as well I'm not sure whether he's alive or dead (nor am I sure what I'd prefer... it would be a good sacrifice spoiled) but if I had to pick... I'd say alive.

Ace... it's not that I dislike him but he pretty much got his character development AFTER his death. Yeah, he was important to Luffy but we only really learned about him after his death arc.

This difference is that Hodi was/is a villain. Pell was a good guy. And how can you not love Bon? I love Bon, and I have to admit, I'm a pretty prejudice person.

Episode 517 is up on One Piece Official:

    Spoiler

I like the new opening theme, but now I think I'll have the chorus bit stuck in my head forever now!

♪Ichi, Ni, Sunshine, Yon. We GO!♪

    Darn it!

It was a nice touch of having the voices for the fake Straw Hat crew use the same voice actors as the real Straw Hat crew. albeit mixed up. Admittedly, I only noticed that Fake Sogeking had Franky's voice, and that Demalo Black (Fake Luffy) had Sanji's voice when I initially watched it, but Fake Franky has Brook's voice, and Fake Nami has Chopper's voice.

I'm not going to talk about Ace's death being over done or not, but it was a foregone conclusion that Ace would die when he was first introduced. He was Luffy's biggest rival to being Pirate King, and even with his limited appearances, Ace had a relatively big following (or perhaps not big, simply vocal).

Wondering how the heck the Straw Hats are gonna get out of the pickle they're in now.

A possible theory. A longshot, I know, but something I thought up...

    Spoiler
    Show

The true villain in this arc isn't Hodi OR Decken, but the shark-sterroids themselves. And I'm not talking about just some sort of anti-drug metaphor. I'm talking about an actual sentient force (or at least forced personality change) in the drugs themselves. The whole "true form" business refers to how Hodi overdosed on the sterroids and got completely taken over by them. Now, this new personality has a beef with fishman island that goes beyond just ruling it and wants to completely destroy it. Maybe some sort of Logia-user with the ability to turn into whatever's in those pills.

Like I said, it's a real longshot of a theory, even for One Piece.

Speaking of Logia, however, what ever happened to that Logia-user the Straw Hats captured a while back? Last we saw, he kidnapped some mermaids, got the Straw Hats framed for it, and hasn't been seen since.

Meh, he is probably just harassing mermaids... I think that was the last we saw him do. Though, I guess he will have some impact again but I dare not guess what. I don't think anything critical, he's just too weak.
