Steam Groups - Join up!
There's a variety of groups on Steam that certain members from this forum have created related to these games, ranging from vague to actually useful. If you'd like to be part of these, either ask a member of the group you wish to join, or message one of the Administrators there. Or create a new group for a game that hasn't been listed, or otherwise fills a niche. A few of these listed here;
We now have some servers intended for a few specific titles, supported by donations.
♥♥♥♥♥
Team Fortress 2
The Chocolate Hammer TF2 server can be found @ 68.232.183.52:27015
Featuring semi-regular Friday/Saturday friendly competitive matches. Either held on the server itself, or a lobby made on TF2Lobby. If you want to join on a comp match, it's a good idea to register here, just in case.
- Maps, direct access: Refer to potatocubed (GitP, Steam) if you have suggestions or if the server has vanished.

Taking donations via Paypal at [email protected] and ClanPay (preferred option).
Private Server
Then there's the newest member of the GitP / ChHa server family, Drol and Girlfriend's Super Happy Fun Time. (SHaFT) This is a smaller, private server for use by us. It is password protected, so there'll be no disjointed gameplay.
- When the comp team is having practice/holding a scrim, do not connect. There is a separate password for such, so unless you know the right password, you can't get on. When we aren't doing anything, everyone from GitP / ChHa is free to use it. (On the subject on the competitive team, do not ask to be on it. If the team want you to be on it, you will be contacted.)
- You're at the mercy of the whims of drolkcal and mightymonarch. If they feel like Prophunt, it's going to be on Prophunt. If they feel like ammomod, it's going to be on ammomod.
- Don't ask to be an admin or a mod. It's probably not going to happen.
- To obtain the password, please PM mightymonarch for it, or on Steam.
- This TF2 server can be found @ 68.232.169.101:27015
- Temporary password is chha.
The L4D2 server can be found @ 68.232.183.127:27015

Type mm_dedicated_force_servers 68.232.183.127:27015 into console at the main menu before creating a lobby and you will connect to our server. It might also be possible to create a new lobby via Steam groups.
Donations (PayPal) can now be sent to [email protected], or ClanPay for a faster and easier method (also preferred).

Mumble
While used primarily for communication between teams in a competitive match, it can also be used as a lounge area for people to meet up and talk to each other.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
I actually re-compiled the list at one point. It increased at least twofold. I posted it ... and Djinn told me it wasn't nearly full enough. We sort of ignore the moderator list now, afaik. Too many names to bother.

News thingy.
If you can't tell, I'm the fat kid at the cash register....I'm only in it for a second :P This may be from a while ago (a year or more?) but I look the same. Seriously, I've looked the same for years and years....

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
I was on the news once in grade 5. Well... the back of me.
The news came to our school for our official opening ceremony, and everyone was supposed to be in uniform -- white shirt and blue pants.
I forgot. So... there was this sea of white with this little red speck in the back row.
I stood out! :D

You'll excuse the stupid question.
Any idea when they should release the specific dates/times of the Highlander matches?"Eins, zwei, drei... Ugh, I do not think we brought enough body bags."

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
The title is still Steam Thread XV, just so you know.
And no we should eat, onasuma. Food is so much more fun.SpoilerOn behalf of YoSaffBridge, a collected gent who also hails from the UK, I would like to apologize for the time (times?) he told your lovely children that they were possessed by El Diablo. He has his own issues to work out, and occasionally suffers from the honest delusion that small children are demons. Plus, he’s a bastard. I guess that’s not really an excuse, but I did say these would be sincere.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
Completely off-topic to the off-topicness...
Has anyone else noticed that damage in TF2 seems to be broken? Yesterday, as he stepped out of spawn, I one-shotted a scout for what claimed to be 6 damage. Not only did he die, I was the solo murderer.
Beyond that, the entire game suddenly feels weird. I don't know how to describe it any better, and I'm aware that it could be completely on my end, but things are just weird all of a sudden.
I'm off to read patch notes to see what exactly these bidaily updates were doing.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
I suspect a lot of these miniature updates are basically gearing up towards the Polycount/Trading update, which they previously said required a lot of background work on the Steam software itself and how TF2 interacts with it.
Total bugger ups are to be expected.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
Daaaayum.
I remember it was possible to one-shot Scouts with the scattergun back when they had 95 health with the Sandman, but I don't think one can do 110 damage with one shot, no matter how close they are...
Messed up.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
Scattergun does 105 base dmg. I don't know how much it does with damage spread on.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
He was literally right outside out of one of Blu's entrances on Badwater. I was waaay back on the rock cluster a few away from the entrance to the tunnel. The starting whistle had blown not two seconds before. I was stunned.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
...Wait wait wait.
Are you sure it wasn't a Blu spy who ran outside the spawn disguised as a Blu Scout and used a Dead Ringer?
Cause that DOES just drop a Scout corpse. They're tricky that way.Last edited by The Linker; 2010-09-10 at 01:04 PM.
