Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
Again: Trains do not work that way. You can't just stop and start them again on a dime.
That said, I'm not sure how exactly the doctor got left behind anyway. He was about 5 feet behind the other survivors. The following errors occurred with your search:

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
It's pretty much:
You stop the train, everyone dies
You keep going, you live, they don't.
Also, because you are where we discuss the gaming, Steam thread, I'm watching the Zero Punctuation Amnesia review and I swear to God either his phone is going off in the background or he's messing with me.
Go on, go watch, listen to it. There's this buzz buzz throughout.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
As we don't technically see Jeff die, I'm assuming he's fine.
I base this assumption on
1) Years of horror movies with the central rule that if you don't see the body, the person in question is alive.
2) The Paintball episode of Community. It has lead me to think differently about people named Jeff with friends named Annie. Now I assume they can and will beat me in no holds barred paintball tournements.Remember how I was wishing for the peace of oblivion a minute ago?
Yeah. That hasn't exactly changed with more knowledge of the situation. -Security Chief Victor Jones, formerly of the UESC Marathon.

Also a thing to remember about the train: If a tank gets on it, they all die. The only way to get away from the tank would be to abandon the train, and then they're dead anyway.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
At this point in the story line the group of them have killed, at least 25 tanks (and yes I counted). The tank argument is invalid.

How do you change your name in TF 2? I would like to add a [GitP] in front of my name.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
Then how could three tanks kill Bill?
The fact they've fought them singularly says a lot, as does that we only saw two tanks assaulting the camp. There could have easily been a dozen more.
Hell, a tank just THREW A HELICOPTER AT THEM.
I know trains are heavier, but they could still do Hella damage ripping bits off to throw at them.
And it's not just tanks anyway, there's witches and special infected GALORE, behind them. Most likely more in that one fight than they've ever fought at once before.
But hey, you wanna throw your chance at escape away and throw yourself at that lot, feel free. I'm sticking with Bill.
Also, just doing a quick run through of the Passing:
Coach: "Aw, man, this tour is bullboop" *Tank appears*
And then later Zoey dropped a chainsaw for me.
Surprised me. Then I killed like 7 tanks with it. Badass.
I also grabbed Bill's gun in honour of him, but now whenever I'm doing the shove I have to reload too.
Seriously, why so much Versus. Campaign is way more awesome.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
Man, now I think about it that'd be a brilliant switch up to a campaign.
You do the whole finale, fighting through the hordes, waiting for rescue to come and as the helicopter flies in BAM! A Tank jumps off a roof and drags it out of the sky then throws it at you. It bursts through one of the barriers, and now you have to leg it through this new route in the hopes of finding some other form of escape until you reach some forgotten boat or truck or something.
You go from a regular finale to the Parish in one terrifying swoop.

That would be awesome.
Also BALTHASAR, why never Cusswords time? You hate us? Hmm?
Also also, I'm going away for another four days again, last time this time. Direct insults and questions at either Blackfox or Raven.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
I don't see why jaded is the same thing as logical. You know what is terribly harsh and has no place for mistakes? Nature. If you're injured in the wild, you can bet your ass the animals won't be sympathetic to your cause. Bleeding in the water? Sharks will kill ya. Survival of the fittest is the way it works, and sadly, nature is unforgiving to weakness. Same with these Infected, they are hell bent on destroying everything around them, and none but the toughest will live it out. It's very easy to judge people who are in a tough situation we've never been in. when the adrenaline is running, you're breathing hard and fast, you've got no time to think, and you're relying strictly on instinct. What's saved you so far? Quick reactions, getting the hell out of the way, and the other people who've done the same around you. Like Bill said "Listen up fresh meat. Forget your military training, don't do anything unless we do it first, and if you fall behind, I'm not coming back for you."
If they wanted to live they should have kept up. Despite what people want to think, life isn't fair. People get mugged, hurt, killed, lose their jobs....good people, normal people. It's not harsh, it's not good or bad, it's just how things happen. When it comes down to it there's no such thing as fair, you work with the hand you've been dealt, because crying over it won't change anything.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
I lost two hours of homework to a computer crash, then lost two more hours trying to fix it, then failed. Now I've got no games for at least a week and all of my minecraft and civ data is gone. Can I have some e-pity, please?
EDIT: on a more relevant note, I may have some difficulty making it to the first highlander match. I'll get back to you on that.Last edited by Sammiches; 2010-09-29 at 09:32 PM.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
*reads moralizing about Bill and lol's*
Bill did the smart thing, and in a zombie war, the smart thing is the same as the right thing, regardless of what conventional moral systems tell us. You don't be a hero by dying for your country, you be a hero by making the other guy die for his In this case, the other three survivors are Bill's country, and the doctor was not. Clearly he shows regret for what he had to do to survive, based on the look he gives Zoey as she's yelling at him, but he still did it.
Oh, and speaking of custom maps, I play a lot of them actually! Some of them are okay, some of them are really clever. The Half-Life 2 mods - "We Don't Go To Ravenholm 2" and "City 17" - are both excellent and challenging, in particular. I can recommend some others when I get home.Originally Posted by Gort, Lord of Hellfire
