[Nexus-Plot] A Trail of Feathers

[Rae Artemi]

At the base of a mountain on a completely different planet there is a small village. All of the huts are slightly smaller than you would expect from a human house. It's the middle of the day, but there is no one around, though there are lights on inside of the homes.

The mountain to the north is quite tall, piercing through the clouds and seeming to not stop. If You Try to focus up high on it it seems to try to draw your eye away.

To the east and west is a forest, and to the south is a large road.

[Blue Ghost]

Blue looks around in awe at the new planet, taking in its serene beauty. So this is Popster, eh? Beautiful.
He gazes longingly at the mountains, the forest, and the village, before finally turning back to Emily. This is your quest, milady. You take the lead.

[Zefir]

Andy bumbs in the place to. Seems like traveling through a portal isn't popular where he came from.

"Puh we arrived I thought this never ends."

[Lix Lorn]

Emily looks around, as the portal closes behind her into an infinite series of five-paths. She fixes almost instantly on the village.

[Rae Artemi]

As they arrive, they may notice happy sounds coming from most of the huts, with most of the noise coming from the centralmost hut, which is slightly larger than the others. All of the huts have one wooden door in the front, large enough for a human to fit through.

[Zefir]

"Sounds like there is a party of something like that today."

Andy keeps following Emily watching out for danger.

[Lix Lorn]

Emily will essentially pick a hut at random, and knock on it.

[Rae Artemi]

The noises from the house will stop, and after a moment the door will open.

Poio?

Says the small voice of the young kirby that answered the door, looking up at Emily curiously.

[Zefir]

Andy just stands behind her watching the crature he never saw befor. And he Deadtimed.

[Lix Lorn]

Emily smiles at the little kirby, and quickly channels some mana into a language-bypassing spell.
"Hello. My name is Emily." she says.

[Rae Artemi]

<Oh! I think you want to go see the mayor then, his house is the big one in the middle. He said that there would be people coming to see him, and one of them would be named Emily, so yeah!>

Says the little, judging by the voice, female Kirby happily.

[Lix Lorn]

"Thank you." she smiles. "Have a nice day."

[Rae Artemi]

<No problem Miss Emily!>

Says the little kirby, closing the door to her house.

[Lix Lorn]

She smiles, and immediately heads for the centre of the village.

[Rae Artemi]

Sitting in front of the door to the large house is a familiar looking cat in a red hat, though he is much older than the Trilby that Emily knows.

<You're Emily, right?>

He meows.

[Lix Lorn]

She nods slowly. "Yeah... Trilby?"

[Rae Artemi]

<Indeed. Rae must have told you about me. Come on in.>

Trilby says, opening the door to the hut with his tail and proceeding inside.

<Kirby, we've got company!>

[Lix Lorn]

She raises her eyebrows in curiosity, and goes in.

[Rae Artemi]

The scene inside the hut is a pretty happy one, with Trilby sitting next to the chair of a fully grown Kirby, about half human size, for these kirbies at least, at a dinner table with kirbies of almost all colors and sizes. There is a very large meal on the table, where all of the kirbies are eating, except for the one Trilby is sitting next to. The head Kirby is wearing a suit and has a large scar next to his left eye.

Hi Emily. He said you would be here.

He says, in common.

[Lix Lorn]

She blinks.
"...he... do you mean Rae?" she says hopefully.

[Rae Artemi]

Yes, Rae. He is an old friend.

Kirby says, standing from his chair.

Welcome to my happy home. Help yourself to any food you think you may like, we have plenty.

[Lix Lorn]

"I appreciate it, but I kind of want to hurry on..." she explains. "I'm looking for something to do with this feather..."

She pulls out the feather.

[Rae Artemi]

You mean like this feather?

Kirby says, producing a long white feather from somewhere. Probably the same place he stores his sword and hammer. He offers it to her.

He had to come through here, just like everyone else who wants to go up the mountain.

[Lix Lorn]

She stares.
"Up the mountain? I shoulda guessed that with drama senses..."

[Rae Artemi]

It will not be easy. It's meant to only be done by godlings or great heroes, but yeah, that is where Rae went. You will have to go as well. I would suggest at least taking some food with you, it is a long climb.

Kirby says, grabbing a bag and offering it to her.

Anything on the table is fair game, and Trilby could show you to the pantry.

[Lix Lorn]

She nods, squashing her objection. She can make food easily, but it's a waste of energy-especially making it for all three of them.

"Thank you." she says, curtseying.

[Rae Artemi]

It is not a problem. I owed Rae quite a few favors anyway, but it's the least I could do.

Kirby says, as all around them most of the other kirbies in the room are leaving.

Huh, it looks like dinnertime is ending.

There isn't too much left on the table, relative to what they started out with at least, but there is at least enough food and water to keep the three of them fed for a few days, at least. Trilby emerges from the pantry with a few canned goods and other non-perishables, and begins loading them into the bag Kirby provided.

<I'll also show you to the start of the path up. It's the least I could do for someone who saved another me's life.>

[Lix Lorn]

She smiles.
"Thank you both so much." she says.

[Blue Ghost]

Blue bows. Thank you, good sirs, for your kindness and generosity. Can you pray tell us about Rae, and why he was headed for the mountain?

[Rae Artemi]

<Up that mountain is the home of the gods of Popster. Rae had to go up there to take up his mantle, one that he's been running from for years.>

Trilby says, leading them toward the base of the mountain.
