Re: Old Ways IC
Talsarios lands his sling bullet, felling one of the goblins. Brandon, Stefan, and Nathros' attacks go wide.
Gregaros works his way around the wall but finds silence almost impossible on the crunchy, leaf-strewn ground. The goblins don't seem to have noticed him yet, though.
Devin, the lead woodsman, fires his small bow, landing a shot against one of the goblins.
SpoilerSurprise round over.
Remaining foes:
1 dead goblin
1 wounded goblin
2 goblins
1 goblin supervisor
Players win initiative for round 1

Re: Old Ways IC
Nathros mutters about his wet gambeson throwing off his aim as he draws his hand axe and hurls it after his spear (hopefully not directly after). If he has any time left afterwards in the round, he draws his short sword and charges into melee.

Re: Old Ways IC
Brandon's prayer seems to be answered as his arrow strikes a goblin worker who stumbles back stunned and bolts toward the keep.
Jeanne puts a second arrow into the wounded goblin dropping him to the courtyard floor.
Nathros, Stefan and Talsarios have worse luck, and Nathros charges ahead toward the goblins, who flee before him toward the keep entrance.
The two remaining goblins bolt screaming for the keep entrance as the goblin supervisor lashes out toward Nathros with a whip, catching the dwarf about the ankles.
Spoiler
The goblin with a whip rolled a 20 on his attack against Nathros. Nathros must make a Save vs. Death Ray (+1 to the roll) or be Entangled (unable to move, attack, etc. until he makes such a save or out of combat cuts himself out).
The two uninjured goblins will enter the keep next round and are now about 50" away from most party members. (Gregaros is a little closer and Nathros is much closer.)
2 dead goblins
2 live goblins - fleeing
1 goblin supervisor with whip
Tie in initiative for next round, so post your actions and I'll mesh them in with the goblins' actions.

Not sure if Nathros should get +1 for dexterity? Probably will not matter given my luck so far this combat...

Re: Old Ways IC
Gregaros cuts down one of the fleeing goblins and Stefan's sling bullet takes down the other. The supervisor drops his end of the whip and makes his way toward the portcullis as well.
Nathros finds himself fully entangled in the whip and Talsarios rushes, knife-drawn, to maybe cut the dwarf loose.
Spoiler
The goblin supervisor wins initiative and rushes past Gregarios, giving the man as wide a berth as possible, and heads through the portcullis.
Gregaros is only 10 feet away as the goblin doesn't make it that far into the inner keep.
To everyone else, the goblin disappears out of sight through the doorway.
PCs turn.

Brandon Bor
Brandon walks forward a little, keeping his eyes on the keep to see if any hordes of goblins come rushing out to slay them all.
"Fellows, what do you think, should we go in after them? If we rush in now, we might be able to kill more while they're still figuring out what to do."
"If not, I'll stand guard while the bodies are searched and then we retreat."

Re: Old Ways IC
Gregaros rushes in after the goblin supervisor and strikes him down from behind with a very solid sword blow. He finds himself in a small entry room, the first ten feet or so lit by the sunlight from the entrance behind him.
Nathros and Talsarios manage to cut the whip apart.

Re: Old Ways IC
Gregaros froze in place, holding his breath for three heartbeats and straining to listen to the sounds coming from inside the keep.
The moment passed, and he reached down and gripped the dead goblin by the collar and dragged it back out of the entrance to dump it unceremoniously to one side of the door. He leaned against the wall the opposite side of the entrance to the dead goblin and began to clean the blood from the blade of his sword.

Re: Old Ways IC
Stefan advances cautiously into the courtyard. "Everyone alright so far?"
The cleric loots the goblins that fell in the courtyard, as best he can.
"We have to move quick, to keep the advantage, let's not hesitate to retreat if things turn sour."
If the marching order is restored, he'll walk in the second rank, sling and shield at the ready.
SpoilerAlso, if anyone needs healing, let me know. Roland, it's perfectly alright if you roll Stefan's heal checks to keep things moving.

Brandon puts up his bow and puts on his shield and sword and follows Nathros inside. He looks concerned; he'd never entered an enemy keep before, and he constantly looks around and up to detect ambushes.

Re: Old Ways IC
Gregaros hears the sounds of people, or more likely goblins, moving on either side of him. The sound is muffled though, as if he was hearing it through a thick wall.
He can see the entry way he's in is ten feet wide and at least ten feet deep, probably more as it extends beyond the limit of the entering sunlight.
He notices as the others in his party come up behind him.
SpoilerIf characters need healing, they know who the priest with the healing skills is, feel free to seek it out.

Brandon Bor
Having caught up, Brandon takes the first rank again in the marching order.
He says quietly, "I'll stand guard here, but one of us really should go through the corpses and pick up whatever treasure they have. I'll be damned if we have to run for our lives and leave whatever coins they each have on their bodies, just because we didn't take a bit of time to search."

Re: Old Ways IC
Talsarios pats the dwarf on the shoulder as he releases him, and nods to Brandon.
"I'll search the fallen - I need to pick up a few sling stones anyway..." he says, and begins to do so, gingerly checking the goblin belts for purses, and looking for any bullets from the court yard.
