If the nerves are about your uni kid, don't worry. They'll love you, if they have any sense.
If it's about the subiect teas, I'unno. That's some weird Oxonian thing I don't understand.
Or possibly simply to be replaced by a new, less fragmented, computer."'But there's still such a lot to be done...'

Re: Archonic's Archaic Acronymical Antidisestablishmentarianism Random banter 148
School rant.
*head>desk*
I've been in several history classes. I've gotten Cs in all of them, because no matter what, the people, dates and events that I memorize and study the most are NOT ON THE TEST.
It's not like I don't study! I've spent the past 2 evenings going over my notes and the textbook! I spend more time on things I think would be good test material, and then they're not on the test.
Unless I somehow magically got a B on the midterm I just took, or a C even, I'll not be able to get a B in the class. I'll probably need spectacular grades on everything else in this class to pull a B-. That's one 8-page paper, and a comprehensive final exam. I don't think I'll make it to the dean's list this semester.
On the bright side, now I've only 3 classes left til fall break.

Re: Archonic's Archaic Acronymical Antidisestablishmentarianism Random banter 148
So it's sorted. I'm not applying for the universities I was originally going for because I didn't really want to go to any of them. Except Leicester. Which I am going to go to.
Which means I don't have to worry about the 15th October deadline anymore, considering I'm not applying for Oxbridge! Huzzah!
Next problem: I know I want to go to Leicester. Which is AAB/ABB req. Now I need to find 4 other universities that do a good Maths course to go to, that want AAB-BBC grades.

Sheffield was one I was considering looking into - didn't realise Newcastle was another good one, I'll look into it. Thanks.

@Cassie Lassie: :(
Still, at least you don't got the hassle eh? Here's to you getting into Leicester!
*toasts*
The subiect tea was a little awkward, then I got able to talk to the people there. Well, babble, because I can't do crowds. I was definitely a negative influence though as I told them cheats and divulged general scurrilousness to the innocent young children.
Didn't meet my baby though. She slept in.
And yes, the tea only finished half an hour ago.
Speaking of laziness.
Current essay length (not including title): 11 words.
Essay due date: half three tomorrow.
Secondary reading and note work done: one page on one mostly useless essay.
Didn't take too long to settle in now did it?

Re: Archonic's Archaic Acronymical Antidisestablishmentarianism Random banter 148
Only I'm pretty sure I've never heard that song before.
Living up to both your heritage and the general expectations of students.
Well, that's more work than I've done in the past... 2 weeks at least.
ION: Cat from two doors down came for a visit and managed to get both under a radiator with a towel draped over it (Momentarily confusing when I couldn't figure out where the purring was coming from) and behind the TV (Slightly worrying as it'd be a bit difficult to get him out from there if he didn't want to come out.

D:
But.
But - it's the Iackson 5! How can you not know that song?
Iust because it's a two minute long Motown song that's about sixty years old is no excuse to not know it.
Good point.
Says the boy who isn't in university.
Cats do that.
The Demon Cat once climbed to the very top of a telegraph pole and then iumped straight off the top.
While I was watching.
Gave me heart palpitations she did. And, of course, she was perfectly fine.

I now have a blog. Have a look if you wish. It contains those naughty profanities that you won't find here. If you like what you read send me a PM, or if you don't like it. I'd like to know how many people here read it.
Avatar done by me. If you want one then you clearly have no taste. I'll do one happily. You just have no taste.

Thursday this week don't you know it,
Is a day dedicated to poets.
It's a date chosen rationally,
For poetry nationally,
So write one, then refuse to show it.
Happy National Poetry Day for Britishfolk.BANG → !

Re: Archonic's Archaic Acronymical Antidisestablishmentarianism Random banter 148
But didn't earlier when you were thinking Oxbridge say that the teachers were predicting you AAA* or something? Because if they were fudging the grades iust to boost the school's cred by having an Oxbridge applicant/an actual Camford student that's well . . . pretty sneaky and cool, but dishonest.
If they predicted you those grades, those are the grades you should be getting writ down even if you aren't applying Oxbridge.
And let's be frank, while Camford're good, they aren't the be-all and end-all of education, and certainly there are fantastic unis out there to go to as well.
*raises of glass of [insert favourite alcoholic or other drink]*
You'll get in.
I 'member looking at the prospectus for Leicester, correct me if I'm wrong, but I 'member thinking it was a pretty place to study. I don't think the English course was all that good, hence the not-applying-there-at-all dealy.
Certainly the workload's lighter.
*sighes*
On the plus side, I have an introduction that slides seamlessly into the main body of my essay! Iust as soon as I find out whether Cynewulf and Cyneheard really does contain all the themes I claimed it did.
>.>
<.<
*checks quickly*
Yes, it does.
So, I have an introduction that'll let me slide seamlessly into the main body of my work. And! a pivot so I can point out the other side of my argument.
Go me.
Now to start making myself do this sort of thing with more than eighteen hours until the deadline remaining. And having read more than two essays of marginally useful secondary material.
Important tip for essayists: Make sure that the themes you claim to exist in the works you're writing on actually exist before you start writing the essay. It'll save you trouble later on.
Lor' lumme I'm hungry. I'll go have a toastie later.
I love having a kitchen in the house. Oh, maybe a yoghurt while I toast. Or some runner beans.

SpoilerNEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP!
SpoilerOh snap! You just got limerick-rolled!
In english class back in school we were asked to write several types of poems. Most people chose haikus because of how easy they were.
So I guess it's probably true.Last edited by Haruki-kun; 2010-10-07 at 05:32 PM.
