Scowling at the heretics still charging at him, Charon redirects his fire back to the center. "None can be trusted but the Unforgiven..."

Putting his displeasure aside, Charon again unleashes a tide of death from his heavy bolter.

As the rounds begin to explode amongst the foe, the bolter's chamber clicks open on an empty magazine.

"Metal storm ammunition expended. Keep these heretics off me while I reload."

    Tristan, Charon and Kaeste
    Spoiler
    Show
Kaeste fires off a round from his Bolter, but none of the shells find a target; each shell flying harmlessly into the ground around the charging Heretics.

Tristan fires off a round at the distant CSM and it seems like his time spent aiming will pay off (see Svari and Onissius' combat to view results).

Charon's fire is almost just as ineffective, however a solitary shell manages to unleash it's payload of frag over a grouping of Heretics. They tumble, a blood mess, to the ground.

The remaining Heretics, driven onwards by the prospect of blood and violence, continue to run at Charon without fear of death.

(Full Action Run - 18m. Heretics are 23m from Charon. 4 Mag Damage to the Heretics leaves them on 7 Mag)

It is now Kaeste's Turn, followed by Tristan and Charon. (You've each posted actions incredibly quickly!)

    Tristan, Svari and Onissius
    Spoiler
    Show
(First I'll see if the CSM is aware that he's being shot at by Tristan. If he isn't, he can't dodge. Remember, he's more or less your equal, so he's not gunna be terribly easy. Awareness = 60 vs (1d100)[49]. If he's aware, Dodge = 40 vs (1d100)[18].)

For a moment, it looks as if Tristan's rounds will impact the CSM straight in his blasphemous head. However, using his superior senses and reflexes, he ducks and weaves to avoid both shots, continuing on his run.

Svari then charges at the Traitor Marine, a curse to to their name on his lips, and brings his Chainsword sweeping across him. Unfortunately, just before the sweep of the weapon, Svari stumbles on a rock and his Chainsword roars harmlessly in front of the CSM. In response, the CSM raises his own Chainsword and bellows: "Ah, finally some sporting prey!"

The Heretics, now desperate to join their master in close combat with an Astartes, continue to run forwards to join the fray.

(Full Action Run - 18m. 46m away from you).

    It is now Onissius' Turn.

    Spoiler

Onissius lets a crackle of electrical energy surge from his fingertips at the CSM engaged with Svari. The Traitor Marine shakes violently and cries out in anguish as white hot lightning sears across his body, but retains his combat readiness; not wanting to falter in the face of Svari. "Warp take you, Psyker!" He spits through his helmet's vox.

    (39 Damage - (10 Body AP + 8 TB) = 21 Damage = 8 Wounds left)

Despite the searing damage of Onissius' psychic power, the CSM sends a flurry of slices at Svari with his corrupt Chainsword; it's metallic teeth whirring, screaming for blood in an unholy tongue.

(Swift Attack, 2 Normal Attacks, +10 WS for Loyalist Marine Hatred. WS 50 + 10 = 60 vs (1d100)[83] - 1st Attack. (1d100)[78] - Second Attack. First Attack Damage - (2d10+14)[1][4](19). Second Attack Damage - (2d10+14)[2][9](25). Emperor finally decided to pity you after those awful rolls? )

The Traitor Marine convulses as he attempts to slice at Svari, a product of Onissius' deadly lightning; leaving his swings wide and the Loyalist Astartes unhurt.

(OOC: You were only meant to roll 2d10, since you were copying the first damage roll, but I'll simply take the 2 highest, which comes to 6 extra damage.)

Onissius continues to send searing bolts of lightning from his fingertips and the CSM shakes violently; steam beginning to rise off his unholy Power Armor. He cries out in anguish again, but remains focused on Svari.

    (26 Damage - 10 AP - 8 TB = 8 Damage. 0 Wounds left)

Now desperate to appease his Dark Gods, the Traitor Marine stabs and swings at Svari with renewed vigour; his wounds beginning to take their toll on him.

    (Swift Attack, 2 Attacks. WS of 60 to beat. 1st - (1d100)[57]. 2nd - (1d100)[84]. 1st Damage - (2d10+14)[6][4](24) - 20. 2nd Damage - (2d10+14)[6][10](30).)

The Traitor Marine misses his stab attempt, but swings his Chainsword around in a low arc towards Svari's Right Leg.

Svari can make a Dodge or a Parry Test (Chainswords are Balanced, so that's a +10 to Parry) to negate the hit. Otherwise that's 4 damage I believe. It is now Svari's Turn.

    Alyxander and Azirel
    Spoiler
    Show
Alyxander fires the Basilisk shell towards the Enemy held Basilisk. The shell whistles through the air and at the very last moment the crew manning the Basilisk and those Renegade Militia around it leap for safety. Their efforts are in vain as Alyxander's shell lands almost directly on top of the Enemy Basilisk. The initial detonation is followed rapidly by more explosions as the ordinance aboard the Enemy Basilisk explodes also, causing a tremendous explosion and causing the ground to rumble slightly. As the smoke clears and the dust settles, a large, blackened crater is all that remains of where the Basilisk once stood. There are no visible survivors or even any body parts for that matter. A cheer goes up from the Fortress.

Meanwhile, the Heretics around Azirel continue to hack and slash away at him.

    (Attack = WS 35 vs (1d100)[51]. Damage, if applicable = (2d10+3)[18] P2)

The Heretic's blades glance off Azirel's armor, yet again, leaving him unhurt by the unholy assault.

In the distance, the Renegade Militia and Heretics from the Northern assault are beginning to close. They are currently about 100m away from you and are running towards Alyxander's position; thinking the Heretics around Azirel have him covered. Bullets begin to plink off the Basilisk's armor. Alyxander also notices a lone CSM amongst the rank and file of Militia and Heretic. No doubt the Traitor that still lives has relayed the situation taking place around the Southern fringes of the assault to his Brother and he is coming to assist.

(Renegade Militia Initiative = (1d10+3)[4]. Heretics (2) Initiative = (1d10+3)[11]. Initiative to take effect after Azirel's Turn. Updated Initiative Order:

    Spoiler
    Show
Svari sends another flurry of swings and swipes at the Traitor Marine. Two of the attacks miss and the CSM skillfully parries a lunge from Svari with a swish of his Chainsword.

With his concentration still on Svari, the CSM notices the approaching Heretics and directs them so: "Attack the Psyker, whelps! Reclaim the Basilisk and you shall be rewarded!" Not wanting to argue with their master, they ignore Svari and move to attack Onissius; moving around the duel taking place between Svari and the CSM.

(Full Action Run - 18m. Heretics are now more or less beside Svari, who may attack them, if he chooses to. 10m from Onissius.)

In the distance, the Renegade Militia and Heretics from the Northern assault are beginning to close. They are currently about 100m away from you.

Tristan sights the Heretics charging towards Charon and pulls the trigger on his Bolter. *Click* *Click* *Click* *Click* The frustrating sound of a jam can be heard from Tristan's Bolter instead of a roar of holy fire.

Charon makes a hasty reload in the face of the oncoming Heretics.

The Heretics continue their charge towards Charon and are nearly upon him, their blades raised high.

(Full Action Run - 18m. 5m from Charon)

It is Kaeste, then Tristan and Charon's Turn.

Alyxander's Basilisk fires off a shell with a roar. The payload lands a second later on top of the Western-most Enemy Basilisk and each of you hears, sees and feels a huge explosion as the ordinance aboard the Enemy Basilisk adds to the initial explosion. A cheer is heard from the Fortress, although this is quickly drowned out by another barrage of Enemy Basilisk fire from around the Fortress. More chunks of wall and Fortress begin to fall away under the constant assault, but they hold... for now.

    Spoiler
    Show
(OOC: As Executus mentioned OOC, sustained damage is 2d10, not 3d10. Even so, you're not done enough damage to hurt him either way.)

Onissius continues to send powerful Psychic lightning from his fingertips towards the CSM fighting Svari. The Traitor Marine shudders violently, but is otherwise unhurt.

    (13 Damage - 10 AP - 8 TB = 0 Damage)

Meanwhile, the Renegade Militia and the Heretics from the Northern assault run to retake the Basilisk and eliminate you from the battlefield, in the name of the Dark Gods.

(Both Hordes run 18m. 82m from Svari.)

The duel between Svari and the Alpha Legion Marine continues and the CSM slices and stabs at Svari, hoping to finally injury the Loyalist Marine.

    (Swift Attack - 1st Attack: 60 vs (1d100)[93]. 1st Damage = (2d10+17)[6][5](28) P4. 2nd Attack: 60 vs (1d100)[83]. 2nd Damage = (2d10+17)[6][6](29) - A whole lot of nothing...)

Perhaps it is Svari's melee combat finesse, the Traitor Marine's lack thereof, or Onissius' efforts to shock the CSM or some combination of the three that keeps the CSM's Chainsword from slicing into Svari. He gives a low, frustrated growl.

Svari, on the other hand, has more luck killing the Heretics. He cuts left and right into the running servants of Chaos at opportune moments. He fells many, slicing the unholy men in half at the waist, but they continue to run past him.

(5 Mag Damage, Horde is down to 15 Mag)

The Heretics continue their run towards Onissius, not wanting to disobey their master, and engulf the Basilisk; screaming foul curses as they clamber up the Basilisk to attack him.

(Full Action Run - Heretics now surround Onissius)

It is Onissius' Turn to Act.

    Svari and Onissius
    Spoiler
    Show
(OOC: Sustaining a power costs a Half Action (P.186) and you may only fire a Pistol type weapon into melee, which you are technically in since the Heretics have surrounded you. I'll therefore assume you wish to fire with your Bolt Pistol.)

Onissius continues his Psychic assault on the Alpha Legion Marine. He shudders yet again at the powerful Psychic lightning, but appears otherwise unhurt. Steam casually rises from his armor. "KILL HIM YOU FOOLS!" He screams at the Heretics massing around Onissius. In response to this, Onissius simply quickly draws his Bolt Pistol and casually fires a single shot indiscriminately into the Horde massing around him. His Bolt travels through a great deal of Heretical bodies, shrapnel taking a few more with them, before it stops; leaving a line of dead Heretics in it's wake.

    (1 Hit + 1 Explosive = 2 Mag Damage. Horde is at 13 Mag.)

Meanwhile, the Renegades and Heretics from the Northern Assault start to get closer to the action.

(Both Horde's Run 18m. 82m from Svari, 92m from Onissius.)

The duel continues with Svari and the Traitor Marine. He arcs his Chainsword high, then spins to follow up; hoping to finally catch the Astartes in the teeth of his roaring Chainsword.

    (Swift Attack. 1st Attack = WS 60 vs (1d100)[80]. 1st Damage = (2d10+17)[2][5](24). 2nd Attack = WS 60 vs (1d100)[21]. 2nd Damage = (2d10+17)[5][3](25) - 22 Pen 4.)

The arc attack misses Svari as he quickly leans back to avoid the Chainsword's hungry teeth. The spin, on the other hand, seems as if it will Svari in the right arm unless he manages to Parry or Dodge this vicious attack.

It is now Svari's Turn, he may Parry or Dodge the single successful attack made against him by the CSM.

The machine spirit of Tristan's Godwyn pattern bolter was obviously furious over the traitor marine dodging it's holy retribution and rebelled when it was denied another shot at him when it was turned on the closer heretics. Now is not the time to be Temperamental, he admonished the weapon in his mind.

The heretics would be on brother Charon before he could unjam his bolter so another option was called for. "Grenade!" Tristan called to his brothers as he took a frag from his grenade dispenser and took a second to judge the angle before he lobed it at the fast approaching heretics.

    Spoiler

Free Action Quick draw a frag grenade, Half Action Aim, and Half Action throw it at the oncoming heretic horde. Aiming at a point just inside the front rank of heretics. BS 44, +10(Short Range) +10(Half Action Aim), -20(Target Running). Need a 44 or less. (1d100)[1], Nice. 5 Blast +1 for type X, +1 for Power Armour History = 7 Magnitude Damage.

    Tristan, Charon and Kaeste
    Spoiler

The grenade sails over Charon's head, bounces once in front of the Heretics, then explodes. You're not sure how or why, but the grenade appears to have been packed with increased explosives and frag and when it explodes frag is sent hurtling in every direction. Those Heretics not caught in the initial blast keel over and bleed to death from gaping holes and gashes in their body; a result of the lethal shrapnel of Tristan's grenade. By the time Charon finishes reloading, all of them are dead or dying a slow death from blood loss.

The Guardsman along the Fortress' Southern wall begin to disperse towards either the East or West sides of the walls, their jobs not done yet.

Combat is over for you three, although you are still subject to narrative time. What are your plans now?

    Svari and Onissius
    Spoiler
    Show
Svari sweeps his Chainsword downwards and knocks the Traitor Marine's Chainsword away. He then follows up with a mighty war-cry as he counter spins, Chainsword roaring in hand. The CSM barely has time to recover from the skilled parry and raises his Chainsword in an attempt to Parry Svari. This effort proves to be too little, too late, as Svari's Chainsword rips through his Power Armor and flesh on his Right Hand, causing blood to squirt for a moment as two of his fingers are removed from the grip of his Chainsword before the wounds clots. He fumbles his Chainsword for a second with a howl of agony which causes the Heretics surround Onissius to consider helping their master. After a moment he straightens up again, still holding his Chainsword, his audioable breathing a mixture of agony and anger.

(After accounting for AP, TB and True Grit, CSM is on Crit 6 Rending damage to the Right Arm and with 3 level of Fatigue)

Despite the dire situation their master is in, the Heretics obey their orders and attack Onissius, bringing their blades down upon him in a flurry of slices and stabs.

(Attack on Onissius - WS 35 vs (1d100)[64]. Damage is (2d10+3)[15] Pen 2)

The Heretics, having been distracted by their master's cry of anguish, do not place their strikes very effectively and Onissius remains unhurt.

It is now Onissius' Turn to Act.

With the immediate threat destroyed, Tristan allowed himself a grim smile. "Brother Charon, move West and support Brothers Alyxander and Azirel. Destroy the immediate threat and then sweep the West Wall clear of the enemy. Then proceed North and silence the enemy held Basilisks."

"Brother Kaestre, reload the earthshaker, we are heading East to support Brothers Svari and Onissius"

    Spoiler
    Show
Auto-piloting Kaestre, as he requested, until he returns. He Acknowledges then activates his Mag-boots for stability as he reloads the Earthshaker, assuaging it's mistreated machine spirit with the promise of retribution against it's defilers.

Tristan dropped down into the drivers compartment and applied power to the drive train, racing the Basilisk East toward the mêlée swirling around Svari and Onissius.

"Acknowledged. Moving to support the western flank." Charon finishes reloading his weapon and begins to march to the west. Disappointed that he was not able to follow through on his threat, he took a small measure of satisfaction that the heretics had been wiped out anyway. Besides...there were plenty of targets remaining for his pitiless storm of bolter fire.

    Charon smiles silently to himself.

    Spoiler
    Show
Azirel continues to swipe and furiously stab away at the Heretics surrounding him. The Heretics, however, are a little more cautious this time round and keep their distance. Those closest to the hulking Blood Angel are still caught in the teeth of Azirel's Chainsword though and blood squirts from vicious gashes in their bodies as they tumble to the ground.

(1 Mag Damage, 13 Mag Left)

The Renegade Militia from the Northern Assault begin to advance towards Alyxander's Basilisk, trying to close the gap before he can possibly get a shell off in anger.

(Full Action Run - 18m. 82m from Alyxander.)

Charon, his armor's pistons whirring as he runs to support his Brothers, get's slowly closer to the action. (Charon can see the Heretics attacking Azirel, if he wishes to make a ranged attack against them).

It is Alyxander's Turn to Act.

    Svari, Onissius, Tristan and Kaeste
    Spoiler
    Show
Onissius swings his Force Sword around him, psychic energy burning off it as it whips through the air. He fells the closest Heretics in a glorious sweep and the Sword not only slices the Heretics clean in half, but also appears to burn their very souls out of their bodies. White, psychic light appears to scream forth from every orifice on the felled Heretic's bodies and the surviving Heretics surrounding Onissius shriek in terror at the sight.

(1 Mag Damage. Horde down to 12 Mag.)

Having been distracted by the Heretics, Onissius' psychic lightning begins to wane a little and the CSM continues to remain standing.

The Renegade Militia and the Heretics from the Northern assault continue to move closer to the action.

(Both Hordes Full Action Run 18m. 64m from Svari, 74m from Onissius.)

The CSM, badly wounded and knowing he will likely not survive much longer, activates the pain suppressor reservoir in his Power Armor (which will function for (1d10)[3] rounds) and switches his Chainsword to his good hand. Then, with a curse to the Space Marines on his lips, launches a ferocious attack against Svari.

(Quick Draw Free Action, in a way, to ready Chainsword in CSM's good hand. Full Action All-Out-Attack. WS 50 + 10 (Hatred) + 20 (All-Out-Attack) = 80 vs (1d100)[10] - Forgot to roll for damage, rolling that OOC. This attack cannot be dodged or parried, since Svari performed an All-Out-Attack earlier.)

The Traitor Marine raises his Chainsword high and brings it down with great brutality on Svari's bare head (unless you can link me to a post otherwise, you mentioned you had your helmet off). Chunks of flesh and blood spurt from a hideous wound on Svari's face and the Alpha Legion Marine chuckles slightly at the revenge he has finally received.

Meanwhile, Tristan and Kaeste, aboard their Basilisk, speed towards the conflict over the slightly muddy plains. (Another round and they will be alongside Svari and Onissius).

It is Svari's Turn to Act.
