What I am about to do will never be spoken of again.

    Spoiler
    Show
Svari decides that enough is enough. His duel with the Alpha Legion Traitor ends; now. In a flash of lightning, Svari's Bolt Pistol is in his hands and his Chainsword at his side. He levels it at the CSM and takes pause for a moment, no doubt uttering quiet litanies of curses at the foul Traitor, before squeezing the trigger. The CSM tries to step out of the way of the shot, but his efforts are in vain. Less than a second after the familiar throaty boom of a Bolt Pistol, the CSM's Right Leg explodes in an eruption of blood, sending small pieces of his unholy Power Armor and fragments of leg bone in all directions. The ammunition around his hip also explodes, creating a small explosion equal to that of a simple Frag Grenade. The Traitor Marine falls backwards and, his body still under the effects of pain suppressors and futilely attempting to combat fatal shock, spasms violently before laying still on his back. As the CSM falls, Onissius ceases his psychic lightning.

(CSM is very much dead. Since Svari is helmetless and may therefore take damage from the shrapnel and explosions, he must make a Agility Test of + 30 to shield his face from the debris. Alternatively he may hit the deck and attempt the same thing with a modifier of + 40. The latter, of course, means he is prone at the start of his next turn. Assuming damage is enough to hurt Svari of course... (1d10+2)[8] I damage from bone and armor shrapnel. (1d10+5)[13] X Damage (it says I, but surely it would be X) from exploding ammunition. So 5 possible damage to the head, unless Svari can shield himself.)

The Heretics surrounding Onissius begin to cry out at the loss of their master. They attack Onissius with renewed vigour, hoping to carry out their master's last order.

    (Standard Attack - WS = 35 vs (1d100)[90]. Damage is (2d10+3)[15] Pen 2)

The Heretics, quite obviously upset with the loss of their master and more than cautious at the effects of Onissius' Force Sword, don't seem to aim their blades very well and all of them glance of Onissius' armor.

It is Onissius' Turn to Act.

Upon seeing the approaching horde of heretics, Alyxander releases the controls of the Basilisk and draws his bolter. He briefly contemplates setting it to the familiar Metal Storm rounds, but instead flicks it over to Kraken. Lining the Traitor Marine up in his sights he looses a full auto burst.

Svari quickly shields himself from the blasts of the dead CSM's ammunition and can finally sigh a breath of relief.

Onissius swings his Force Sword round him again, hoping to reclaim the Basilisk quickly. The Heretics are definately keeping their distance, though, and psychic blade meets nothing but air.

Meanwhile, Tristan and Kaeste, aboard their Basilisk, pull up beside Svari and Onissius. (Tristan and Kaeste need to roll for Initiative to join this combat, their order takes effect immediately)

You'll also need to roll to confirm Righteous Fury for your first damage roll!)

Alyxander locates the CSM with ease, his Armor and size, compared to that of the Heretics and Militia, betray his position. Despite the mass of bodies he is surrounded by, all four shots fired from Alyxander's Bolter strike home across the CSM's body.

The Heretics and (OOC: if he is still alive) the CSM begin to advance on Alyxander's position.

(Heretic Horde 2 Full Action Run 18m. 82m from Alyxander. CSM Full Action Run 30m. 70m from Alyxander.)

(Rerolling the Heretic's attack - (Standard Attack - WS 35 vs (1d100)[37]. Damage is (2d10+3)[8] Pen 2.)) - Missed anyway

Alyxanders hail of Kraken rounds slam into the charging CSM. Bolts rip through his Power Armor across his arms, torso and head. As the last shell hits, the resulting explosion from the shell tears the Traitor Marine's head and torso apart. Blood squirts everywhere and organs spill forth from the gaping hole in the Enemy's body. A large pool of blood forms before the bleeding finally stops. Several Heretics and Militia at the front of their numbers retch at the sight and give the corpse a wide berth.

Azirel continues to hack and slash his way through dozens of Heretics with great pride and thirst. He then gets a little ahead of himself and actually kills every Heretic that surrounds him, giving him a brief respite from the Heretic's blades and them a brief respite from his Chainsword. They seem tired and angry, a deadly combination... The Heretics are on him again in an instant though and the corpse pile around Azirel's bloodied feet continues to mount.

    (4 hits, 1 initial + 3 for 6 DoS. Horde is at 9 Mag and must test to break at -10 WP. WP = 40 - 10 = 30 vs (1d100)[50]) - They break on their turn.

The Renegade Militia slowly move closer to Alyxander's Basilisk, a little unnerved by the sudden death of their leader.

(Full Action Run - 18m. 64m from Alyxander.)

Meanwhile, Charon continues to run across the plains, now just about over half-way to Alyxander.

Tristan rakes the Basilisk's Heavy Bolter from side to side at the oncoming Renegades. (Horde is Mag 40, so you had a + 30 modifier to your test, so you actually hit! 40 Mag means + 40 to Pinning test = WP = 35 - 20 + 40 = 55 vs (1d100)[69]) - They're Pinned.

The Renegade Militia halt their advance suddenly and dive out of the line of fire, they begin to retreat slightly as the ground in front of them explodes with Heavy Bolter shells and a few of their frontline fall to the raking fire.

(Horde is Pinned, Half Action retreat 3m from Tristan's position, 3 Mag Damage, 37 Mag left.)

The Heretics, undaunted by Tristan's fire, continue to surge forward.

(Full Action Run - 18m. 46m from Svari. 56m from Onissius, Tristan and Kaeste.)

Kaeste makes some calculations in his head and adjusts the Basilisk's aim accordingly.

    It is now Svari's Turn.

Svari charges towards and onto the Basilisk, although loses his footing slightly as he hops onto the metallic bulk. He stumbles and his Chainsword meets nothing but air.

Given the amount of targets available to the Heretics now, they lash out at all of you except Tristan, who remains covered inside the driver's cab. The vile servants of Chaos hack and slash at Svari and Onissius and fire their Autopistols at Kaeste.

    - Whole lot of nothing...

Bullets fly past Kaeste as he works the Basilisk's controls without a care in the world, save for the task at hand. The blades of the Heretics come close to Svari, but the Heretics seem to have become weak at the death of their master and their blades miss mostly. The same goes for Onissius, who is also unhurt.

It is now Onissius' Turn to Act.

Another barrage of Basilisk fire is heard and more of the Fortress hub and wall fall away. The Northern wall looks weakened, it will not withstand much more punishment.

Alyxander calmly lowers his still smoking Boltgun, switching the ammo over to Metal Storm as a precaution, before climbing over to the driver's section of the vehicle. He looks from the charging heretics, to the controls of the basilisk, and finally off in the direction of the gunfire to the North, before his features, obscured by his helmet, set in a determined grimace. He revs the engine a few times before speaking into the vox, "I am making an attempt on the northern basilisks, support Brother Azirel," before flooring the accelerator of the tank and speeding directly towards the heretics, "FEAR THE JUDGEMENT OF THE RIGHTEOUS, SCUM!" He screams through his helmet's vox as his tank goes speeding towards the onrushing heretics.

Tristan shook his head as Svari reported his Basilisk's lack of Heavy Bolter ammunition. It would seem they stripped that ammo and placed it in this Basilisk given the abundance of extra shells in the cabin.

    (Rolled for Mag Damage OOC)

The Basilisk roars towards the Renegade Militia, squishing what was left of the CSM along the way. It would appear that the tortured machine spirit inside the Basilisk is thirsting for revenge. Bullets ping and crack off the armored hull of the driver's cab with increasing intensity, but Alyxander remains safe. From the view slit in the driver's cab, the masses of Renegade Militia stand before him, forming a well-drilled firing line. They don't even seem to move as Alyxander approaches at break neck speeds. It is only at the last second do the ranks of Militia begin to break rank and attempt to dive out of the way. A series of sickening crunches and heavy slams against the hull tell Alyxander he has the broken bodies of Renegades under his Basilisk's treads. Screams echo for a fraction of a second before being drowned out by more crunching. Alyxander maintains good control of the Basilisk as it tears over the Renegades and eventually he stops hitting Militia and sees the Heretics not far from his position.

Somewhere on the walls of the Fortress, a Sergeant makes a mental note of this tactic employed and reminds himself to discuss the max speed details of the Basilisks on Khazant next time he visits a vehicle depot.

(15 Mag Damage. Horde must test to break. WP = 35 vs (1d100)[42]) - They break on their turn.

The Heretics ahead of Alyxander, having witnessed the death left in his wake and the blood on his Basilisk's treads, begin to flee from the approaching metal hulk.

(Full Action Run - 18m away from Alyxander)

Meanwhile, unaware of the carnage being wrought on their brethern and frankly, too insane to care anymore, the Heretics around Azirel, through a combination of combat fatigue and anger, enter a frenzied state; determined to avenge their fallen laying at their feet. They attack Azirel with renewed vigour, however the blades do nothing except glance off Azirel's Power Armor.

(Horde is Frenzied, although doing 1d10+4 Damage, Pen 2, the Horde isn't going to hurt Azirel, even with the highest possible roll)

The Renegades, no longer under fire from Tristan, regain their combat composure after retreating a little further from the spray of Heavy Bolter fire.

(WP Test made OOC. Half Action before then to retreat another 3m. Horde is 80m from you.)

The Heretics, this time, are the ones to retreat from Tristan's raking fire. They move cautiously back from the spray of Heavy Bolter shells and back towards the ranks of Militia.

(Half Action - Retreat 3m from Tristan. 59m from you.)

Kaeste must now test Drive (Ground Vehicle) (Int) with + 10 for Short Range and + 30 for a Massive Target to hit the Basilisk to the West, as it is his turn, followed by Svari.

Kaeste fires the Basilisk and the shell booms out of the cannon with a massive roar. The shell remains airbourne for a second before detonating on top of the Enemy Basilisk. The shells aboard the Enemy Basilisk add to the resulting explosion, creating a massive explosion several dozen metres in size and rocking the very ground. When the mud and the smoke settles, a large crater is all that is left with all but a few scattered pieces of metal and scraps bone and flesh an indication of a foe that was once there.

Meanwhile, Svari slices the legs out from underneath a few Heretics scrambling onto the Basilisk he and Onissius are now sharing. They tumble, bleeding profusely, to the ground underneath the Basilisk. The rest of the Heretics remain out of reach of Svari's hungry Chainsword.

(1 Mag Damage from 1 basic success. Heretic 1 Horde is at 9 Mag and must now test to break at -10. WP = 40 - 10 = 30 vs (1d100)[76]) - They break.

The distant explosion of one of their held Basilisks, the loss of their master and the surrounding 4 Astartes is enough to tip the Heretics over the verge of insanity. They scream foul curses to the Emperor and the Astartes, or dark prayers to the Ruinous Powers, and bring their blades down upon Onissius and Svari; having dropped their guns in favour of a more direct appoach.

(Horde is unable to damage Onissius, as damage is 1d10+4 Pen 2. So even with the max roll, Onissius would remain unhurt. Svari may only be injured on his head. Standard Attack on Svari - WS 35 + 10 (Frenzy) = 45 vs (1d100)[35]. Damage, if they get lucky, is (1d10+4)[14].) - No more scars for Svari yet.

The blades simply glance off Onissius and Svari, leaving them unhurt.

It is now Onissius' Turn, followed by Tristan's.

Coming to a stop some distance behind the trundling Basilisk, Charon plants his feet and readies his heavy weapon to fire. "Alyxsander, concentrate on the enemy artillery. I'll clear the heretics from your path."

Triggering a burst from his heavy bolter, Charon shouts at the retreating enemy from his armor's external speakers. "Cowards! Come meet your judgement and your doom!"

Azirel cuts down another dozen Heretics around him, adding to the growing pile around his armored boots. His Frenzied state has not evapourated since the battle began and he looks far from tired.

(4 Mag Damage. 5 Mag left.)

Charon makes it, finally, to the Western side of the battle and plants his boots firmly to trigger a glorious full-auto spray from his Heavy Bolter at the retreating Heretics. Shells scream out across the plain and explode through dozens of bodies, sending lethal shrapnel out and killing several more. Almost half the Heretics are dead and with Alyxander bearing down on them, they look ready to snap into a Frenzy.

(17 Mag Damage. Horde has broken OOC. 23 Mag left.)

The Renegades, having seen the destruction as the hands of Alyxander and felt it's effects, decide that today is not a good day to die for the Dark Gods and flee towards the West.

It is Alyxander's Turn to Act.

Alyxander holds his course, heading north towards the sound of basilisk fire, seemingly heedless of the crunch and splatter of heretics beneath the basilisks treads. Once it looks clear he makes sure a few krak grenades are ready for use.

(If you want to use a FP to reroll that I'd do so, if you still have FP's left to spend... Otherwise...)

Alyxander continues on his path of destruction towards the Heretics. Charon's righteous fire, combined with the Heretic's slight scattering, makes hitting targets slightly harder and Alyxander only manages to run over a few. He emerges on the other side of the Heretics later, the front and underside of his Basilisk awash with Heretical blood. He guns the engines towards the North-West Basilisk. (Alyxander will reach the NW Basilisk next turn)

(With the reduced size of the Horde, plus the fact they were running, means you only did (1d5)[1] Mag Damage. Horde is at 22 Mag.)

The Heretics, their minds snapped into insanity at the sheer death before them, decide to chase after Alyxander's Basilisk.

(As a Reaction, Alyxander may attempt to brace the hatch shut with an Opposed Strength Test, Heretic's Strength = 30 + 10 (Frenzied) = 40 vs (1d100)[28] - That's 2 DoS! They're pretty eager to get to you!)

(Full Action Run 18m toward Alyxander.)

Meanwhile, the small number of Heretics attacking Azirel hack away at him harmlessly.

It is now Azirel's Turn to Act, followed by Charon.

Tristan stopped firing and grabbed the extra case of heavy bolter shells and passed it up onto the cab roof for Suvari to use. "Nice shot brother Kaestre. Target the next Basilisk in line."

Onissius swings his Force Sword around him again; psychic power burning off of it as it swishes through the air. The Heretics keep well back and avoid the psychic blade.

(Svari now has access to Heavy Bolter rounds, although he must spend a Full Round reloading the Heavy Bolter for it to fire again)

The Renegades, now properly ready to resume the charge, run towards the two Astartes held Basilisks.

(Full Action Run - 18m. 62m from you)

The Heretics continue carefully retreating, deciding whether or not to risk charging again.

(Half Action retreat 3m. 62m from you. WP Test to recover from Pinning. WP = 40 + 37 (Mag) = 77 vs (1d100)[43] - They recover)

Upon seeing the advancing Renegades behind them, the Heretics look ready to restart their surge towards your Basilisks as part of a massed charge.

Kaeste felt the cathartic pulse through the mechadendrite as the shot flew true, detonating the magazines of the targeted basilisk, the resulting blast wiping out the traitorous crew. Not only had the machine spirit exacted revenge on the heretics, but it had freed one of its brothers from further defilement. He hefted another of the mighty earthshaker rounds, carefully slotting it into the enormous breech of the Basilisk's cannon. "Preparing to fire," He voxxed.

Brother Azirel feels renewed in soul, even as the traitorous heathens continue to hit him in vain, their efforts going to waste as he's protected by the Emperor's grace and his impenetrable power armour.

Despite fighting for quite some time, his superhuman physique and excellent conditioning, including the last weeks of intense and focused Deathwatch training keep him in top shape and his righteous anger drives his chainsword to hack and slash with great efficiency at those heretics that remain around him. It is his Emperor bestowed duty to cleanse this place from them and relief the faithful and besieged soldiers of the Imperial Guard and so he shall do.

Yeah right...the online dice are not in my favour tonight It seems Azirel got somewhat tired after all. I think I may still have one fate point remaining (1 spent to get in squad mode at start, another to re-roll another 95+ roll and i can't remember if i have spent the third one at any point). In case i still have it, i'll use it to reroll my first roll (97) in the event that i'm about to hit myself. Otherwise (if i'm simply going to miss) i won't use it.

A scornful sneer locked on his face, Charon continues to fire on the heretics, hoping to clear the area behind the Basilisk.

For a moment Charon's Heavy Bolter remains silent and the Dark Angel begins to think a jam has occurred. Then shells begin to roar out of the huge muzzle of the enormous gun. This momentary pause in the Full-Auto Fire causes Charon to move his aim slightly from the Heretics as he begins to suspect a jam. Quickly re-training his weapon on the Heretics, only 2 of the shells slam home; sending Heretics sprawling and exploding.
