"Tobias," Quinn says simply. "and, Irish coffee has a shot of alcohol in it. Whiskey or bourbon usually, I think. Or rum."

Ah, then I will take my coffee so. He shrugs, then looks at her closely. He appears to be dashing off again, full of fire. What of it? He can take care of himself. Why do you think I'm worried about him? Because he's not.

"I'm fifteen." Kris says without hesitation. "Well...sixteen soon. my birthday's not far off."

Quinn nods, and sets about fixing up the coffee, then offering Tony a cup. "It just seemed that way. I suppose I should have expected that not to be the case, though."
She doesn't sound particulary sarcastic.
She, on the other hand, does sound a bit worried...



"Yeah, really!" Jamie says with a grin.

"You should've kept it up, Balin. I was going to teach you some more techniques. Still, I suppose some more ordinary sword drill wouldn't hurt. Piece of advice though - when you're doing sword drills, try to add a little flair to the way you move. It will help you get essence back faster."

Tony sips at his cup and thinks for a few seconds before answering the paladin. I have my own problems, well, things to be concerned with... It has always been better that I don't get involved in his affairs.

Balin looks at Nimai a little quizzically but shrugs. " Yeah, yeah. Got it. "

Quinn thinks better of saying 'it still is'. "Oh? What problems might those be?" Quinn asks, taking a seat and ready to play Deanna Troi as opposed to some odd mix of Worf and Dr. Crusher.



"Oooh, you can use Essence too? Wow!" Jamie says, sounding almost jealous.

"Hello!" shouts a voice from outside the camp. Those outside might see a familiar figure approaching the entrance "I'm back!"

Tony regards her in silence for awhile, then touches his holy symbol and looks over his shoulder at the youths. My job. It can be... upsetting, at times. Could we go somewhere private, if we are to discuss this?

"My dad enlightened him," Nimai explains, "So it's not that surprising." She turns to watch Balin's sword drills.

Right, usually you get teased by your brothers about what an old crone you are. And then mom and dad have you go catch dinner for the family.

...Catfolk don't really "celebrate" their birth so much as they accept that it happens.

"I'm kinda starting to feel old though...I mean, sixteen is a pretty big number."

"Of course." Quinn nods, and stands. "This way?"
And she leads the way to the other tiny cubbyhole/bedroom that was added on.

You don't get presents? Well, where I'm from, we celebrate our birthdays with cake and ice cream and presents. I'm sure we could do the same for you.

"Er...cake? Ice cream? AND presents? No, I never got any of those. I think it might be a human thing to celebrate birthdays. Catfolk don't get quite as many, so we're not really that celebratory about it."

He also tries to add just a bit of flourish to his strikes. Basically he just adds a little something that helps him get to the next strike more effectively.

Holly hears her name and looks toward the voice. "Jamie!" she shouts as she runs toward her old friend. "It's been a while."

Tony remains standing and shakes his head. Not quite. Some of the time I provide psychiatric counseling to children pro bono. Professionally, I assist the Knights of Law, our law enforcement group, in homicides, kidnappings, and other violent crimes. He starts pacing around the small room, unease writ large on his face. You see, I am something of an expert of psychology and I am also a pioneer in the field of deviant and maladaptive behavior. Psychopathy and other anti-social disorders. I get into the heads of some of the worst human monsters imaginable, and then I try to stop them.

Every time he adds a flourish, he should feel his essence replenishing itself; the transformation is fairly draining, especially to someone as new to his power as Balin, but the flourishes and stunts are helping him recover the spent energy.

Nimai casts a look over at Holly as Mara goes running after Kris and Jamie, but stays with Balin. "Very good. Keep doing that for a bit, and when you're ready, transform and I'll teach you the next techniques."

She hopes it's SUPER EFFECTIVE!

Yes... yes it does. Tony stops pacing and closes his eyes. I pour myself into my work, so that when I finally sleep, I am too exhausted to dream. Now, I am on a vacation, and I don't think I will sleep for the duration. With my eyes closed, like now, I see them... Oh, not the sick, evil men. Those bother me, true, but not as much as their victims. He opens his eyes and chuckles hollowly. You cannot understand.
