Re: [Steam] Thread XVII: /sm_rename "Steam Thread": da]mexitt hr[a vise
So, just wondering if anyone would be willing to trade me a copy of Poker Night at the Inventory for a hat.
Worth a try.
Also, the next thread is going to be named King Fortress, right?Last edited by NeoVid; 2010-11-28 at 09:03 PM.

I'm incredibly tempted to buy a new laptop right now (HP Envy 14 has a $300 off coupon right now), but Sandy Bridge is only a month away now...

Fluff and Napalm, Anonomuss, Sleverin and XP, you should have your JC2 copies.
Atheist/Jahkaivah, Drager0 and Worira, you will get your copies once you add me back.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVII: /sm_rename "Steam Thread": da]mexitt hr[a vise
Okay, so I installed JC2.
It won't even start up. Opens a little window briefly, closes it, gives me an error message. The message, if anyone can help decode it, is as follows:
"Fatal DirectX error!
Code: 15
Result: 0x80070057: E_INVALIDARG
The game will now exit. Try starting the game with /failsafe if problems persist."
Not even sure what it means by starting it with /failsafe. Not good with computers. Seems like Just Cause, true to form, blew up my computer's brain. Also itself.
Help?

Im assuming that the post above the above post means my one fatal flaw (the need to sleep) has made me miss out on JC2? Ah well, guess Ill go buy it anyway.

Yes, you and a few people missed out. Sorry.
If it's any consolation, I don't seem to have JC2 either, in practice.
The Ball is also unplayable due to massive lag, despite my meeting all the specs quite tidily.
Installing Warband now. Fully expect it to make my monitor explode.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVII: /sm_rename "Steam Thread": da]mexitt hr[a vise
Played JC2 for an hour this morning. I had to turn the settings down a bunch but I got it to run at 30-40 FPS in the benchmarks.
The game is very fun, but it has the absolute worst voice acting that I have ever seen.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVII: /sm_rename "Steam Thread": da]mexitt hr[a vise
Getting Mount&Blade Warband to work now. Hopefully.
See, the game called for a serial. A ####-####-####-#### serial. What Steam gave me was #####-#####-#####-#####-#####.
So yeah. Problem.
Turns out that if you buy a boxed copy, that registers on Steam, and the box contains a code that matches what the Steam copy asks for.
If you bought it on Steam? You will have to download it from the TaleWorlds (I think that's what it was called) site, install that and use the serial you got off Steam. Nothing short of a lengthy Google binge reveals this.
Starting to get a bit annoyed at today's turn of events.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVII: /sm_rename "Steam Thread": da]mexitt hr[a vise
Sent.
And don't worry, I don't plan to buy anything more. Learned my lesson, so to speak.
Edit: A few searches have shown me what the problem is. JC2 disagrees big time with built-in graphics cards.
It will never run on this computer. If, by some miracle, I get it to work? 2~4 FPS with a good chance of melting my computer, even though the graphics card I have should be good enough.
So yeah. No JC2 for me, ever, until I get a new computer (maybe in five or six years). The irony is not lost on me.Last edited by Cogwheel; 2010-11-29 at 08:19 AM.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVII: /sm_rename "Steam Thread": da]mexitt hr[a vise
I'm in a similar boat. I'm currently experiencing some seriously low FPS. I have an integrated card as well. I'm trying the graphic tweaks here to see what effect they have.
EDIT:
Results are good. Noticeable difference already, without the D3D Override or 30 fps hard cap. I may add those later, depending on how it slows during heavy combat. I'm off to work now, so hope this helps. My settings below.
SpoilerTextures: High
Shadow Quality: Low, with High-Res Shadows ON.
AA: 2x
AF: 4x
Object/Water Detail: Low
Decals ON, all others OFF.Last edited by Valaqil; 2010-11-29 at 09:00 AM.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVII: /sm_rename "Steam Thread": da]mexitt hr[a vise
I may be able to help with graphics optimization by the way. Though I have no experience doing so with this game in particular, I have gone my while life with graphics hardware far behind the curve. Because of this I have gotten quite good at tweaking graphics. I have gotten games to run on systems that are far below the minimum specs.
EDIT: What are your system specs Val?Last edited by Volatar; 2010-11-29 at 09:04 AM.
