I would like to have this league running by next week. I still need badges from many people. Let's get these in A.S.A.P.

Re: Pokemon GITP League
As cool as this sounds, i just dont have the time to level pokemon and do all the other work that comes with competitive play anymore, its why i spend my spare pokemon time on shodybattle.
Thanks to Linklele for my new avatar!
If i had superpowers. I would go to conventions dressed as myself, and see if i got complimented on my authenticity.

Re: Pokemon GITP League
This was brought up in the Pokemon thread we already have, which I encourage you to go look through the backlog and see our discussions on it. Also, gonna request this get merged with that thread.

Re: Pokemon GITP League
@DethMuncher I tried looking for a similar thread before I posted this, and had no avail, so if you could link me that would be great. Also, since this thread is purely about the league, I would rather it not be combined with another pokemon thread.
@Dragonus45 Personally, I have no problems with having a battle on Pokemon Lab or Shoddy Battle. I think we would just need to have some rules about what people were doing with their EV's and IV's, and have them send it in for verification. Also, with Wi-Fi, it will set your team to Level 50 automatically, so if you have the moveset that you want, and have EV trained at a low level, you don't need to level up too much.
@Innis Cabal Awesome, I'll need a team list.
Just so everyone knows, if there are too many people that want to be gym leaders and e4's, it will be narrowed down based upon theme, and the quailty of pokemon chosen.
(Example:
Water Theme - 6 Goldeen
Water Theme - 6 Politoed
The Person with the Politoed's will do better)
Anyone interested, could you send me a team list? And if anyone would like to help organize, a PM would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Pokemon GITP League
I would be interested, but I don't really do Shoddybattle (PBR is a possibility, though), and most of my favorite 'mons are either terrible in competitive play or they've been kicked upstairs.

Really not seeing any advantage to this over just asking if anyone's up for a battle in the pokemon thread.

Re: Pokemon GITP League
seems an interesting idea, though i won't be availlable as a gym leader or e4 member (due to job related issues, cutting my wifi access to weekends). It will be fun to challenge them though if we can set this up.
it will be good for me to learn about all the new pokemon and competitive play, since i just got back to pokemon after a really long absence (seriously Silver is the last version I completed, played a bit of Ruby but then school and after that my job took too much of my time)

Re: Pokemon GITP League
Ive got a Winner's Path (pokewalker) themed team and a Hail Stall, a few other teams as well but those are themeless. I'd be up for any spot those would fit.
Whats PASBL?

Re: Pokemon GITP League
This is just a suggestion, but might it not be best to wait for Generation 5 to come out internationally before trying this? I don't think many people will continue to play Gen 4 Wifi for long.

Re: Pokemon GITP League
Truthfully, many people (like me) have already imported a Pokemon game from Japan or are battling 5th gen competitively on Pokemon Online. Yeah, not a good idea at the time.
There are a lot of good Pokemon in the new generation, both new and old, particularly when you put Dream World abilities into the mix. *glares at Shandera, Politoed, and Ninetales*Last edited by PKF995; 2010-10-30 at 10:20 PM.

Re: Pokemon GITP League
At this point, I just wanted to find out how many people would be interested. If we did start before Gen 5 came out here, then we would have to decide on if and when we wanted to switch, and take some time to prepare.
Just wondering, how is this idea PBP? We are actually battling online.
And I would strongly prefer to use the actual game cartridges, than with Pokemon Lab.

Re: Pokemon GITP League
I have never done any competive battling myself, and don't have wi-fi access so I wouldn't be able to join in. I think it's a great idea though.
The gym leaders should be focused on a single type, like in the games, or maybe even do dual type leaders, but use a full team of 6. The elite 4 shouldn't be restricted by types so that they have a more rounded team and are harder.

Re: Pokemon GITP League
This is certainly an interesting idea, but I agreewith the people that said that we should do this once Gen 5 comes along in North America/Europe, or do it on PO. Gen 5 just makes so many pokemon so much more viable...

Re: Pokemon GITP League
Since most people do seem to want to do it over ShoddyBattle or Pokemon Lab (ShoddyBattle v2) I think that's what we will do. This way we can give everything a test run before Gen 5 comes out so it can be serious then.
I think 3 people have expressed interest so far, that leaves 8 slots open.
If you want to be a gym leader/e4 message me with this information:
Name
Element or Specialization:
List of Pokemon to be used
How many hours you could give up for challenges?
Why you would make a good gym leader? (Strategies, personality etc.)
Thanks

Re: Pokemon GITP League
Someone should design badges that people can display in their sigs once they've earned them.

Re: Pokemon GITP League
@Level8Mudcrab - That was exactly my plan
If I became a gym leader, I already have my badge design. So if the leaders want to design their own badge, that is cool. but if someone would like to design those that would be awesome!!
We then also need Trainer Cards to go into signatures, is there anyone who would be willing to come up with an card for us. (I'd be hopeless at it

Re: Pokemon GITP League
Blech, the new games are crap. As much as I love pokemon, count me out unless it's over the first few games.

Re: Pokemon GITP League
Firstly: Check the match-ups and stats and such for psychic types in R/B. How is that balanced?
Secondly: I believe there is another Pokemon battle simulator that already has B/W Pokemon (not shoddy battle or Pokemon lab, I think it's called Pokemon Online or something).
Thirdly: Kelanrox, that badge of yours seems a bit more of a Champion thing to me, you know? It's not based around one type or anything, and most gym leaders are mono-type.

Well I know I will only be using Gen 1 & 2 Pokemon, but I don't know about others. I still encourage everyone to play.
I checked out the Pokemon Online thing, it looks great, and we can use gen 5 pokemon. So thank you so much master256. I think we should do our battles here. This means that the challenge won't be in training your Pokemon, as much as it will be stragedy, which I think is a great idea.
So, I have one person who sent in their app. Still need more :P, once we have a full house we can begin.Last edited by Ilnaeas; 2010-11-01 at 02:17 PM. Reason: forgot somehing
