Re: Playground Squares X: What will they think of next.
So, here are the rules I want to try to implement.
The Squares can look up the answers. The Contestants I ask to not do so, for obvious reasons.
Also, please make an effort to at least sound as if you know the answer or are making a logical guess.
And for this round, there will be no multiple choice.

Re: Playground Squares X: What will they think of next.
Well, I'd like to hope it's Dark Sun, because that's what I'd vote for and the setting I love above and beyond any other. However I think there are far too many Dark Sun haters out there for that to have gotten the most votes. Shame on all of you. Oooh, planescape's awesome too. Though everyone I know just grabs stuff out of it to use in their other games, and no one actually 'plays' Planescape.
The probably answer is something that 'everyone' played, because really, why would everyone play them if they weren't great, right? So, those would be Forgotten Realms and Greyhawk. As much as I love FR, which is a fair bit, I think I'm going to have to go with Greyhawk. It has that nostalgic sense to it that would get it more votes, and I think there are a lot of people that have had FR ruined for them because of this campaign or that one.
tl;dr Greyhawk, though I wish more people liked Dark Sun.

Hmmm. I'm going to Disagree, on the grounds that while Greyhawk is a good setting, it's also...'vanilla'. The 'standard' as it were, right? And 'Group Captain de Fault' is rarely anything other than a dull man.

Either Greyhawk or Planescape was the correct answer. By my count, they tied for the favorable votes with 8 each.

Indurain, In Silly..... Wait a minute. Silly Message Board Games isn't one of the...... Oh well.
Indurain, In Silly Message Board games, there is a game being run called 20 Questions, Monster.
The Host of the game chooses a Monster, and the players have to guess what the monster is within 20 questions. Simple, right?
What was the Monster for game #3?

Re: Playground Squares X: What will they think of next.
I'm not?
Ah ha, a good question your royal pixieness!
I remember this game, reminded me of Monster Manual Charades (A Trogland meetup classic). But...I never played it. If I recall, it took them a few games before they actually got the answer in 20 (or less?) Questions. That might have been game 3.
So, I had to get my Monster Manual out to try and remember what it was. I don't know why, but I was thinking it was undead, but not something obvious like a zombie. After going through the book, I narrowed it down to the following 3:
Bodak, Bonedrinker, Devourer
So...with it narrowed down, I'm just taking a guess here.
Devourer!

I might be covering for the fact that I meant Host scepter a few posts ago.
Well, he did narrate the Playground Squares WW game, so I figure he's got to be the essence of the narrator scepter. Now, if I'd have waved the Host Scepter around, that would have been different.

Incorrect. The Monster that was being sought was the Bonedrinker.
Bushranger, please choose a Square and Category. Preferably one that is listed.

Re: Playground Squares X: What will they think of next.
Sorry Zeb,
I tried to be tricky, but still gave you a hint. If you grab the 3.5 Monster Manual, Bonedrinker isn't in it, the other two are. Vague I know, but I can't play favourites.

Re: Playground Squares X: What will they think of next.
The back of Helgraf's chair faces Bushranger as Helgraf's voice is heard.
"You will find my knowledge of the subject to be more than adequate."
The chair begins to turn, revealing Helgraf sitting in it, smiling with a rictus grin.
He steeples his fingers. "My young apprentice...."Last edited by Helgraf; 2011-05-10 at 10:10 PM.

Re: Playground Squares X: What will they think of next.
Helgraf, about a year and four months ago, a question was posed looking for a feat using stringed musical instruments as a bow.
At the time, no one could find such a feat in any books, magazines, or online article.
But, two months ago, a Thread-Necromancer came along and answered the question. What was the name of the feat?

Re: Playground Squares X: What will they think of next.
Ooooh, tricksy; you have to go third-party for this one, so calling it an official answer depends on just where your DM draws the line.
But I do believe the text goes something like this:
Spoiler
Combat Strings [General]
You can shoot arrows with a string instrument.
Prerequisites: Base Attack Bonus +3, 5 ranks of
Perform (any string instrument), Point Blank Shot
Benefits: You can fire arrows or bolts from stringed instruments without penalty. Cellos, guitars, harps, mandolins, violas and violins can be used in this manner. Guitars, mandolins, violas and violins have a range increment of 10 ft., and projectiles launched from these instruments inflict 1d4 points of damage. Cellos and harps have a range increment of 20 ft., and projectiles launched from these instruments inflict 1d6 points of damage. A character must use both hands to properly fire the arrow. Unfortunately, because these items were not constructed for combat purposes, a natural “1” on the attack roll automatically destroys the strings, rendering the instrument useless until repaired.Catatar made for me many years ago ... pretty sure by banjo1985
