I think it's the hair really, the waviness and colour are quite stereotypically Scottish.

The same sort of thing happens to me really. I sometimes get told I look either French or vaguely Germanic.

In truth I'm a Russian/Sephardic/Ashkenazic/Spanish/Portuguese/Welsh cross.
