Re: Murphy's Law 5: To Comic 100...And Beyond!
The connection is coincidental. And remember, super-fast updating this week. You'll get a better understanding of Rust, Murphy, Perry, and the situation by the end of the week!

Re: Murphy's Law 5: To Comic 100...And Beyond!
so, i'm the only one who A. sees a connection between rust and our favorite dragon's preffered features when faking human?
and B. that Rust read them the riot act of all the false things that the Plavaan definitely do NOT do, quite sarcastically, and since they agreed with him on those things, he's given up hope on them and wants to talk to byron directly?Writer, editor. See my works at http://theleakingpen.net

I feel like "rust" is an evil outsider or something else that's not going to end well for lord Byron.

I think Rust is the real thing and is speaking what he thinks is the truth. The prejudices just run all the way up the religion.

I guess because of the colour of rust and the summoning magic; besides the pentagram is usually portrayed in media as a demonic (or at least evil) sign to use.
At least those are my theories.

Re: Murphy's Law 5: To Comic 100...And Beyond!
I have a couple of different reasons.
1.I'm fairly certain There are evil outsiders with the ability to look like other things.
2. A pathfinder game I joined is about to start. In the campaign world, several devils have lead rebel groups to destruction by disguising themselves as angels.
3. There's probably an archdevil or demon lord that would benefit by the assassination of lord Byron. Even if he's not going to be assassinated, there are probably several things Rust can do to benefit an Archdevil/demon lord/Yugoloth whatever.
It's of course possible for Rust to be a flawed angel, I just think it might be just as likely for him to be an evil outsider.Last edited by Mystic Muse; 2010-12-27 at 06:17 PM.

Re: Murphy's Law 5: To Comic 100...And Beyond!
No. Or at least, not with B. I tend to ramble so I'll excuse if you just ignore my posts but:
I suppose I didn't say he was being sarcastic necessarily, but I was trying to suggest he might be listing those reasons so he could just dismiss them and Murphy if they didn't question the reasons' validity and that he wasn't spouting the stuff about Salblaze and Red Fever because that was what he believed.
Edited to Add: On the plus side though, even if Rust is being sincere, he thinks the Plaavan will leave 90% of Kago's glory intact so, fair's fair, right?Last edited by Eleanor_Rigby; 2010-12-27 at 07:16 PM.

Re: Murphy's Law 5: To Comic 100...And Beyond!
I'd have to agree with the speculation that Rust is an evil outsider in disguise for the same reason. Also, if I'm not reading too much into what he said, Rust told Murphy and Perry exactly what they wanted to hear. It's entirely possible that Astrid could just be flawed, but she is a Good goddess. With her almost omniscient view of the world, you'd figure that she would at least consider the possibility that many of the Plavaan are innocent people who just want to live out their lives in peace.
I just think it's likely that Evil outsiders are mixed up in this somewhere. The thought of a good deity slaughtering innocents is probably the kind of thing that makes them giddy.
In any case, both possibilities would make for an interesting story.Last edited by RdMarquis; 2010-12-27 at 07:14 PM.

I think Kyuubi means, that the evil outsider masquerading as an envoy of a god is a common (and IMO) good literary device; I don't think he is accusing you of ripping off from an established setting

Re: Murphy's Law 5: To Comic 100...And Beyond!
I noted that Rust said he personally agreed with them. That word personally would be unnecessary unless there were others who felt differently. Perhaps Astrid realises that many Plaavan are good people but now some of her celestial followers believe she's making a mistake. So Rust believes he's helping Astrid by misinforming the Kagoians about the Celestial view on their actions.

Well, i KNOW its stupid, but, similar haircut and umm, "facial features" ties him to the dragon in my mind.

Re: Murphy's Law 5: To Comic 100...And Beyond!
huh... I wonder what he's actually doing. Is he actually easing his pain, or is he killing him? If he's telling the truth, then that changes everything that was mentioned before about him. Could he really be a good guy who just thinks that killing the Plavaans is the right thing? Sorta like a pre-epiphany Lloyd?
Or maybe he could even be controlling the king so that he can take over the world. Who knows. My Avatar Adoption Center

Probably some Orison from a splatbook. When we write up this world, we'll have to detail it.

Why does everybody think Rust disapproves of the Plavaan slaughter when he quite clearly said he approved without an ounce of sarcasm?
