Re: Random Superpowers
Enhanced Staff Proficiency
Immutability
Life-Force Manipulation
The Silver One
Saved from death as a 12 year old child by the sacrifice of a member of the Silver Guard in the human year 1422, a galactic force of conscripted agents who serve the Silver Hegemony of Garnasa VII, young Harold York had no idea how his life had changed at that moment of interference. The powerful powers of life manipulation granted to members of the Silver Guard after decades of training and discipline had infused escaped the bounds of his savior and infused themselves in the young York. For years the young man remained unaware of the true repercussions but as time went on and his friends and contemporaries began to age and enter puberty he remained the same in appearance and biology. Eventually young York ran away from home, fearful of what he had become. He returned to the site where the Silver Guard had sacrificed his life for his own. It was there he was contacted by the Silver Guard, who took the young man away to protect him and train him to use the powers he had been granted by the dying member of the order. He received training in use of the staff and soon came to understand the magnitude of his powers, being able to manipulate the life force of all living beings, except his own. He was stuck, eternally as a child and as decades and then centuries passed on and he became an official member of the Silver Guard and then rose in their ranks he came to forget earth. Eventually young York was named leader of the Silver Guard and granted the title of Silver One by the Hegemon itself. Now, eighteen years into his reign as leader of the Guard stirring shave begun to happen on the far and distant planet, Earth. Now the Guard, and the Silver One himself, are forced to return to the long forgotten world.
For funsies since I wrote that up, let's see what the villain is that's causing the problems back on Earth.
Native American Deity Physiology
Creation Magic
Tin Mimicry
A rogue spirit with powerful magic! (And the ability to turn into tin?) Definitely a galactic threat! (To all things that fear tin especially)

Re: Random Superpowers
on occasion a combo of powers will stimulate a creative frenzy.. this one in particular has just spaked an entire universe-building process in my head. Future combos of mine might be connected to this one.
Spoiler: The GatekeeperOlder than time itself, the Gatekeeper has been standing guard between the nine shapes of the world since before those shapes were truly defined.
She holds absolute dominion over the space inbetween space and time, the Other Place, as it is called by the wise men of Makhané.
Some of the more radical thinkers in the Nine Worlds posit that she may be the very embodiment of that space, of the veil that separates the different worlds. It is said that she alone knows all the ways that connect the worlds, and that no such thing can or should exist if not through her.
Not much else known about her can be distinguished from the mythos surrounding her existence, except that the only physical form she manifests herself in is water, an element over which she holds great power.
It is said that she has her agents, sometimes worshipers, spread across the Worlds, and comunicates with them through pools of still water, from which a female form arises to speak with them.
Occasionally, somewhere at random, something may happen to pierce the Veil inbetween the worlds.
Be it a work of great magic, a natural phenomenon, a scientific discovery or some other event, the Gatekeeper will learn about it.
On these occasions, often, an item or a creature falls through this tear in the Veil, into the Other Place. When this happens, she takes it to her place of residence, a fortress constructed entirely from Cosmic Energy whose physical existence defies the nothingness that surrounds it.
Creatures, she will return to the world they came from when she can ascertain which of the Nine it is.
It has happened for her to confuse two similar worlds and so a creature from one might end briefly on another, giving rise to myths and legends.
Objects, on the other hand, she will keep in one of the vaults of her domain.
On very rare occasions it happens that a way is found between two worlds, be it by accident or on purpose, that does not cross the Other Place and are therefore outside the boundaries of her direct control.. The dangers of such an occurrence are not lost on the Gatekeeper, who knows that the separation of the worlds is necessary to ensure their continued existence.
In such times, rather than intervening directly, she will choose a small number of champions to fight in her name, calling them forth from one or the other world as needed, endowing them with cosmic constructs that may help their cause or complement their personal powers.
Her champions, selected by the nature of their powers to fit in as well as possible in the world they must operate in, will then endeavour to find those responsible of opening such passageways and undo their work by any means necessary.

Re: Random Superpowers
I guess since everything is poisonous in excess I have a few tools in my arsenal, although ending drought might be tricky since it's only what I can excrete... Oxygen can be toxic though so I could be useful in situations like underwater rescue... Or I'd make a good firefighter - put a hand over someone's mouth and tell them to breathe deep.
There are three schools of magic. One: State a tautology, then ring the changes on its corollaries; that's philosophy. Two: Record many facts. Try to find a pattern. Then make a wrong guess at the next fact; that's science. Three: Be aware that you live in a malevolent Universe controlled by Murphy's Law, sometimes offset by Brewster's Factor; that's engineering.

Now, who will I be today? A dashing hero or a dastardly villain?
SpoilerBubble Beam Emission: ...well. That's fairly useless, unless I'm fighting Aquaman or something.
Dastardly villain it is, then. Now to TAKE OVER THE WORLD!

Re: Random Superpowers
Let's see what's going on this time... I think I'll bar, reality destroying powers or powers that are borderline godhood to make things a little interesting.
1st ability: Chronokinetic Creature Creation: Pretty cool, as long as there is time I can create beasts that are literally made out of time... borderline godhood since it means that I can create invincible creatures more or less, but with only limited time manipulation, I think it's okay.
2nd ability:Cyclone Spinning?: Pretty cool, I rabidly spin my body parts, not quite clear on whether it allows sectioning off parts of my body, but either way, it's pretty neat, flight.
3rd ability: Fairy Dust: Basically a lot of stuff depending on setting, ranging from manipulating the earth to full on spellcasting here, as well as creating armour and weapons and other fancy items out of the magical dust I can generate.
I am the CLOCK SPINNER! (names are hard), a hero who travels by using fairy dust and fights with his temporal beast allies, able to turn back time to avoid injury and using his own brand of martial arts based on spinning at high speeds and slamming into opponents with pixie-dust-reinforced limbs.

Re: Random Superpowers
I just rolled again, and this is what I got:
Spoiler
Not much is known about this mysterious person - not even his name, which he himself has forgotten. He is almost certainly hundreds, possibly thousands, of years old. In this time, he has become a Combat Specialist, with knowledge of every martial art and unarmed fighting style known to man. He is empowered by being in the world's natural environment, and when he is at his strongest (that is, when he is in the natural environment in its most pristine and unspoiled state) he can change into his Powered Form, in which he is nigh-unstoppable, almost a force of nature. He is willing to help in the fight against evil, particularly when it involves destruction of the environment, but he mostly wishes to be left alone.
Sorry, this is my first attempt at this kind of writing in years, so it might not be very good.
O_O. I just rolled again, and this is what I got:
Spoiler

http://powerlisting.wikia.com/wiki/Onryo_Physiology
http://powerlisting.wikia.com/wiki/Nigh_Omnipresence
So, apparently an evil, vengeful stringy-haired Japanese ghost that can be anywhere (within certain limits) and steal people's sanity. Whoa. Could someone write a backstory for this, I wonder?

Re: Random Superpowers
Within the universe of The Gatekeeper, as per my last roll of the random button, lives a creature that goes by many names, Yeti and Bigfoot being two of the most well known.
Legends about this creature have sprung forth for centuries on the Ninth world of Dawam, where he has made occasional appearances. The truth of the matter is equally shrouded in mistery. The Wise Men of Makhané believe him to be the first of the Gatekeeper's Champions, a hulking Simian with brute strength and a predator's instinct.
His single-minded focus came into play when he was tasked with chasing down a rogue mystic across the slopes of the Himalaya, preventing the man from opening a gate towards one of the other Worlds.
He managed to prevent the mystic from succeeding, but got wounded quite seriously in the fight.
Retreating into a remote cave, the Beast fell into a healing slumber which, under the watchful eye of the Gatekeeper, lasted several centuries and was undisturbed.
It is said that the accolytes of the unnamed mystic never really agreed upon what manner of creature slew their master. Over the millennia, the Beast made other appearances on Dawam, vanishing every time and leaving behind only incertitude and speculations as to his nature or even his very existence.

Re: Random Superpowers
Another addition to my heroic team, already containing Amalgamator and the Horned Heat:
Spoiler: OcublastUnnoticability
Concussion Beams
Slime Manipulation
A rather quiet fellow for most of his life, Octavian Powers and his brother, Alec "Electron" Powers were workers at the cutting-edge Mount Vulcan Nuclear Research Facility. From a very young age, Octavian had lived in the shadow of his older brother's work, to the point where it often felt as if no one even noticed he was there.
One night, there was a major accident at the facility - a chain of mechanical failures caused dangerous amounts of experimental coolant gel to flood the dormitory where the Powers brothers and many of the other workers were sleeping. Alec was overwhelmed before he had a chance to get out of bed. The last thing Octavian remembered before falling unconscious was a splitting headache and searing heat around his eyes as the slimy substance washed over him. The next thing he knew, he was waking up in a hospital, where he was informed that he was the only known definite survivor out of the two dozen people in his dormitory - all of whom were dead, dying, or just plain missing. The latter category, he soon found out, included his brother Alec, of whom not a single trace had been found.
After he was sent home, he noticed that everything was starting to look different to him. He also realized that people were paying even less attention to him than before, unless he was intentionally interacting with them - more than once, he found people running straight into him, than getting up with a befuddled look on their face, as if they were wondering what they had just run into. One morning, after a particularly restless night, he woke up to find a large hole in the roof above his bedroom, which was soaked in a new type of ooze he had never seen before. He jerked his hand out in disgust... and was shocked to see the slime scoot away from him in the direction he had unconsciously indicated. In his surprise, he backed up and tripped over his deskside table, whereupon he would have hit his head - if he had not shot a beam of energy from his eyes, disintegrating the table and giving himself time to catch himself.
Several months later, as Octavian was in his basement clandestinely attempting to gain some measure of conscious control over his powers, a black government van arrived outside his house with a message for him, offering proper military training and support in exchange for his assistance with a severe problem; the Mount Vulcan facility had just been taken over by a mad supervillain going by the name of ElektroSlime, who was threatening to destroy it and release a cloud of radioactive particles over the surrounding area if his demands were not met by the end of the month. Seeing little choice in the matter, Octavian accepted the offer. Soon, bearing the code name of Ocublast, the new superhero drove out to take down his newfound nemesis, little knowing what he was getting himself into...
Whew, that took a while to type. I tried to scatter some clues in there that ElektroSlime was actually Octavian's brother Alec, but I'm not sure as to just how good of a job I did with that. :P

Re: Random Superpowers
I feel like I've done this before, years ago, but I don't remember what I got, so:
Roll #1: Sense Augmentation. So, I can incrementally increase the fidelity of my sensory nervous system and speed up my brain to interpret the information so that oh dear I have already made this character. What're the chances? I hadn't thought to start using the shtick on other people, though. Could be amusing, considering the debilitating side-effects when my influence would wear off.
But hey, we're really here for the interesting combinations, right? Let's see what else I I don't exist. Really? How is that in any way a positive feature? I'm not a secret agent assassin or anything. I guess I could see things and leave clues behind, or give the real heroes of the story sensory buffs from behind the scenes. Sort of tip the scales a little bit at a time, despite being unable to interact with the other superheroes in any meaningful way. That's fun. I could stop right here, really. ...okay, one more.
"Insertion and Removal?" What am I even looking at here? I guess... I guess I can just jam stuff into pokeballs and take it into nonexistence-land with me? And then spit it back out when the time is right? That kind of fits in with the subtle nudging theme. Or do I have to insert things into other things that get left behind on the material plane? That would add a bit more interactivity with the real heroes and villains, I guess; they could go on adventures looking for their teammates and macguffins after I hide them, and I could give subtle hints to one side or the other depending on who needs to win and what mechanism they could use to free the inserted. Also I could show up to deal with possessing ghosts and stuff sometimes, but not necessarily immediately since I don't necessarily know what's going on or think it's safe to come out yet. That's narratively useful.Avatar by the Ninja Chocobo.

Re: Random Superpowers
Gravity Bomb Generation.
The user is able to create explosives that are infused with gravitons. The effects can be controlled by users, from increased gravity, reduced gravity, or even a complete reversal of gravity for everything in the explosion radius. These explosions can usually be thrown or projected.
Ok, that's kind of awesome. I could use it to fly, make trains actually arrive on time, mess with satellite orbits...
No, wait. I'd stick anyone who annoyed me to the ceiling. Or send them into the vacuum of space. Or achieve escape velocity and warp gravity around me so I can actually breathe. So many possibilities! But I think ceiling glue is the best.

Re: Random Superpowers
Orthoptera Physiology
Planetary Creation
Haemokinetic Whip Generation
Ok, so I'm now a giant cricket/grasshopper who can create planets and make whips out of blood. If my powers are mythical, I might be super-lucky
The only logical choice is to become a superhero. I'll be agile like Spiderman and use my whips to both aid my agility and tie up my foes, but I'll operate at night and use my fearsome visage and gruesome powers to strike fear into the hearts of criminals. As long as criminals hear the sounds of crickets, they can never be sure they're safe.
Oh, and I'll only use the planet ability if I'm fighting someone in space and need to trap them in its core.
Ok. That was random. Maybe I'll get something more coherent from Superpowers List.
Beer Transmutation (I can turn anything into any type of beer I want)
Powerful Breath (I can breathe fire, ice, gas or wind at any pressure or force; can increase maximum voice volume)
Shadow Wrap (Shadows wrap around forearms and attack anyone with hostile intent towards anyone in your vicinity)
I... got nothing. The last one just destroys my plan to become a famous singer with awesome parties using the last two. It wouldn't even be responsible for me to leave the house with that last power.

First roll: Color Generation
I don't see how I can use this as a superhero.
Second roll: Water Pillar Projection
Now this one's cooler. I can't decided which one looks better though.
Third roll: Hair Generation
Another cool power. But I don't want this for myself. If this can ever be reality, I hope my brother gets it so he doesn't need to go to Bosley for a hair transplant.
