Then don't give him the choice. Parson's twice Jojo's size and armed. Sure, assaulting a Caster is prepostrously dangerous, but so's every other option he has.

Never. It was planed at some time, but that was even before Book 1 ended. Until we get a regular once-a-week schedule and the printing and delivery process are routine I doubt we will hear of that again.

As I remember it, Rob found another artist excited to do the spinoff. Then, nothing more; I expect negotiations fell through.

K, the problem seems to be a combination of a) my memory and b) interpretation over time. Rob's comment was a bit over four years ago, so it's had time to mush about in my head and "if everything goes as we hope" became a reference to negotiations.

    Sorry 'bout that!

I wonder if that is related to the Arkenhammer. it has been speculated that the hammer is connected to stageamancy, and we now know that one of its branches, carneymancy, is the magic of rigging the game. It could explain why Stanley found so many dwagons on his way to Faq, and why there is always happening something unusual or unexpected to help him, from getting named heir as a commoner to the Gobwin insurrection to getting the spell to summon Parson.

You know, that's an idea I hadn't thought of.

Though if we combine that with one of the longer running theories about Charlie (that he is from Earth as well).

She's just being a pragmatic hippy. The "will end all the wars" part is what she supports, having to do it by means of a Great War is just an unfortunate necessity.

    Hippies TNG: let's rethink Peace!

(but yeah, I can buy that: after all, Erfworld is mechanically built around the concept of war, so even its pacifists, will think in such terms, I suppose)

I saw it as a reminder of how different Erfworld's reality is from Earth's. It takes great effort to produce a "bubble side" that isn't dependent on warfare for its very existence, and both(?) of the examples we've seen (Old Faq and Charlescomm) resort to conflict out of economic necessity anyway. If it's that hard to exist without fighting, it'd make sense for "peace" in Erfworld to equate to something rather more violent than peace as we understand it.

    EDIT: Hippy Ninja'd.

Even if all the Sides stopped fighting, they'd still need to produce units that can fight to fend off the randomly spawning Barbarian units, like wild dwagons (and presumably other units).

    Or randomly spawning Natural Allies.

Or... randomly spawning Sides. Do we know if that can happen?

There's no suggestion of it in the text. Though they do mention sides splitting; without looking it up I believe they only referred to Noble sides doing this.

I guess that was the point. So much luck can't be coincidence. Something (or someone) is tilting the battle in GK's favour. And only midway through the story that is a bad sign for the protagonist. Also, in the second text update Janis said that there will a disarray at the battle, so we can expect something big happening. So far we haven't seen something really big happening that could be a turning point. Trem said that even without the Pliers GK could win the battle, and we know from one of the Stanley text updates that he does think Parson is a good commander. Even if Stanley choose another chief warlord and lost the whole forces and Wanda, Parson would have been made chief warlord sooner or later and brought GK back on the winning street. They they would expand slower, but expand nonetheless. So something is coming.

Question is, *who* is tilting the battle in GK's favour? The Titans themselves? Some coalition of Luckamancers? The answer to that could be quite significant!

Oh, yes, that's definitely a possibility, with still unknown consequences.

That said, my favourite part of this update, is the one describing the mental processes of Artemis during the charge, evaluating the various options.
It's also nice the dwagons' entry... "Roar! We're here. Whatcha gonna do about it?"

But if it was just a natural consequence of the in-universe rules, you wouldn't expect an inhabitant of that universe to more or less say "Why, God, why?" when getting croaked. Clearly the missing arrows were something out of the ordinary for Erfworld.

From a storytelling point of view, this would not make a lot of sense, in my opinion. The author actually went out of his way to put across a distinct feeling that the dice are loaded in this particular engagement. Actually, the way I read it that was pretty much the entire message of the last two text updates; why would so much emphasis be put on the "Titan's design" and such if this had no actual significance to the story, if these strokes of luck were in fact merely that: strokes of luck?
