Yes. The Junior Speedsters are a separate organization from Cloudsdale University; I got the impression it was more like a summer camp than an actual school. The complete and total lack of griffons in Cloudsdale would seem to corroborate this.

I love how all the nerdy internet forum guys in my school also know the show. I'm all like "Hey dude, I'm here to call you out on watching My Little Pony!" and this other guys like "You guys are bronies? SWEEEET"

So... this week I watched all the episodes so far in two sessions. It was very nearly one marathon session - I had to force myself to go get some sleep. I gave up badly needed sleep in order to watch it and was tired at work the following days. My wife mocked me and called me a little girl.

Just gonna say, most of the old stuff is worth watching, but it's so much easier to get into when you start with Nine (since it's intentionally made to introduce people into the canon).

You literally cannot watch all the Doctor Who episodes. Some of them no longer exist. From what I remember most Dr.Who episodes were written such they you pick them up from just about anywhere without feeling too lost. But I'd recommend starting from the beginning of the recent run of series (i.e. the Ninth doctor) too - it's a natural starting point, given the long gap before hand. It's written for new audiences.

There is actually a fanfic on Equestria Daily where they DO so, if someone hasn't already mentioned it, inspired by the 100 Things Pinkie Cannot Do fic.

Also on the topic of Doctor Who(of), I would recommend the Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker) as the best of the old ones. The special effects are hilarious, and Douglas Adams had a hand in some of the writing, so it's often both intentionally and unintentionally funny.
