I flat out asked my brother what it would take to get him to watch an episode. Apparently Joss Whedon needs to write an episode. I was unable to bargain this down to Joss stating that he was a fan. I doubt I'll be able to get my brother to watch.

Yeah, the first time I heard it after being told it had a tendency to earworm, I wasn't so sure I liked it. Then I saw the episode. Now I do.

Also, it has a strange effect when you have this song going round in your head while watching three overgrown teenagers rig a combine harvester with a flamethrower and plowblade and then wrap up winter in their own special way. But that's a topic for another thread.

I usually dislodge other earworms by a few listens of this. It latches onto my brain dislodging everything else, and is much less distracting than songs with lyrics. It's even helpful to keep rythm when working.

Bad part is, by now it's so much of a part of my brain I've been humming that song on and off whenever I'm distracted for the last eight years straight. It's almost my brain's background music. The Ear Worming to end them all .

But the moral was really rather clunky compared to some of the other episodes.

That episode is an elaborate sendup of their network executives and design-by-committee. It's hilarious on those grounds

This Episode needs to burn at the stake

Seriously, making songs about sewing cool? That should be banned, like, ever.

That being said, nice episode, especially tortured faces rarity does every five seconds I've watched a few parts many times, ponies might not be that expressive but they did wonderful job with the eyes, especially during Rarity/Dash exchanges.

One thing that bugs me, the friends might have repaired Rarity's standing with the Designer Pony, but they A) still ruined her opinion in the eyes of the whole village (that didn't watched the re-show) and B) by causing delay after ruining her show either made Rarity lose the contract or she went to the Gala half-dead from exhaustion. This wasn't addressed at all, which is a pity as the entirety of comeuppance upon them was half-hearted attempt to bring the Designer Pone (at least that)

Second thing, Rainbow's laurel. Why it does need hook and eye instead of simple chain? Also, wasn't that hook rather sharp and prone to stab Rainbow in the head?

Huh, Rarity must hate RD.

As usual, I felt the moral to be wrong - doesn't look into gift horse, but that shouldn't mean no constructive criticism :P

Finally, people keep saying TS is talented, but as far as Pony magic goes, Rarity completely outclassed everything TS did that I've seen (so far, that is).

Another minor bug is why no one liked her dresses. Yes, the point of the episode was to ruin Rarity's show, but I'd have expected her to know at least one friend well enough to hit their taste.

There was one general problem I'll address later. Still, nice but...

It suddenly hit me - when it takes place? Before Ticket Master? Then why RD goes about meeting Wondersues if she already meet them (and outclassed) this episode? After? In that case, wasn't the Gala supposed to be some kind of season ending? Even if not, why RD says Gala is the only chance to meet Wondersues? And what happened at the Gala she didn't meet them?

Also, Rainbow's speech about Rainboom in Ticket Master strangely doesn't fit with 200 failed attempts this episode, as did the change from daredevil ready to charge a dragon at moment's notice into second Fluttershy. Weird.

Anyway, this episode introduces special skill only protagonists can have (Rainboom) which is rather cliche, though it didn't bothered me much. What bothered me was how young, inexperienced and weak RD could do it, but now she can't. Oh, and once Twilight said something about delicate wings, I already knew how this episode will end. Also cliche.

Though, watching Rarity to Pony-Fu Wondersues was amusing.

Eh, if Rainbow Dash is sooo cool, why she was kicked out of the academy? Laziness? But, if having academy title is supposed to help with being a Wonderbolt, shouldn't she study even harder?

And why they didn't recruited her now? Still too cool to notice anyone else?

Ending, was that Pinky tasting of rainbows an allusion to Rainbow Dash?

And why a supposed goddess needs two armed & armoured guys to watch her every step?

The same thing with Dr Whoof - you keep going how he changed voice, but I think he is simply supposed to be someone else in this episode. If you look, almost all background ponies gained wings and different voices, probably in an effort to save time on animation using existing models as 'completely different' pegasi. Only Derpy stayed the same, but she was flying to begin with.

I believe it has something to do with the 80s. Not sure what, exactly, but it seems like it had something to do with them. Since a number of the ponies have inherited names/cutie marks from the previous generations of MLP from what I've been able to gather.

Well, in comments under this episode in ED, I read this was supposed to be Author's way of showing displeasure at all pairings for Rainbow with another female pony (if this is too spicy even for Pinky...).

But, well, it's probably urban legend, like that bit about SfSuccess being about executives.

Anyway, I tried to watch episode 4 on a few spots, but it has so laughably poor audio I don't understand anything

On unrelated note, I now [almost] hate everyone capable of understanding everything without them, as I think I lost well over 50% jokes to poor audio and ponies speaking too fast/having weird accents. Poor me

Popular theory is Dr. Whoof was killed off screen by Daleks and regenerated into a Pegasus Pony.

One of the animators mentioned that they designed about 100 background ponies but the guy who's job it was to stock the screen with them only used a small number for some reason.
