Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase IV
@Aruius: Oooh! Neat! I'll agree with Ghar about the rigidity though.
@Ghar: Awesome. Especially Arel. I think Becca's head is a bit too large though, even considering that she's meant to be a child. It comes across less as 'youthful' and more 'oh god I messed up the proportions'. I think you need to shorten the torso as well, to about... 3/4 of what it currently is. Look at children from the comic. They're all large head, tiny torso, tiny legs, while right now you've only got the large head, tiny legs part.
So... what happens when you just up and draw for an hour straight? No plans, no prototype, no backup, just grab your base avatar and just draw randomly until you get bored (or the forum finishes backing up)?
Lots of dramatic pointing, apparently.
Launch ALL the ships! =O
Additionally, this is one goblin that I would not want to cross.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase IV
Thanks. I think I see what you mean with Becca. I was specifically trying to make it not like the kids in the comic since they often give the impression of a rather young child. Younger than twelve like Becca is at least. I will fiddle with the proportions a bit, though.
As for your avis. Wow, just wow. Especially Dipsnig. *applauds*
((And have to run before I can reply to Tiff's. D=))
EDIT:
Anyway, Tiff, that's an awesome picture. Kinda weird, but I'm fairly certain that's the point. Also, that is one strong pixie.
And now, I have adjusted the Becca avatar.
Rather than change the head size and stuff, I just changed the body so it matched everything else. *nodnod*
EDITEDIT:
And another avi. Meet Nadia.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase IV
I have the strange feel that Becca's body is too long.
If it's vectorial, make a copy, and try it with a shorter body.
Still, it looks awesome, I like the flow of the hair, and the pose.Last edited by Crimmy : Tomorrow at 26:72 DM.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase IV
hey guys,
i guess its been a while since i posted here... anyways, in my life outside of avataring, i've been working on my first custom campaign setting for D&D 4e, i have a thread in the D&D 4e sub-forum, and decided to make a sig banner to advertise it. i have pretty much finished it, but i have three slightly different versions of it, and i wanted to get your opinions on which i should use. also, if there are any other comments you would like to make, go ahead. anyways, here they are (spoilered for convenience):
Option 1:
Spoiler
Option 2:
Spoiler
Option 3:
Spoiler
so yeah, just let me know which one you think i should use. oh, also, the campaign setting doesn't have any name yet, i just figured "terraforming" would be an appropriate description of what i was doing - any suggestions about that are also GREATLY appreciated (also anything that could be used as a name for the continent, for info about what that is like, just go here).

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase IV
Group shot of the Against the Giants party plus followers/henchmen.
Nothing really new, but it brings together a bunch of previous pictures into one piece. Looking at it I might need to go back and touch up a few of the earlier pictures as currently some on the NPCs look better than some of the PCs.
Spoiler
Those not pictured include:
2 Dire wolves
3 Winter Wolves
2 Centaurs
A Troll
An Ettin
A vampiric Fire Giant
A Hydra
A Dragonnel
A Titan
And a sack full of asps

@ thepsyker - Oh, hey, those all look very good. Keep up the great work. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your avis.

And now, I have more avis. I've been on a roll recently.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase IV
Thanks Crimmy. That means a lot. And look at that, I have more avis. @.@
Astrana:
New and improved Nadia:
I wasn't happy with my old avi of her, so I decided to redo it.
New Mintbalm:
The person that requested this avi also wanted another with a veil to use for Masquerade Week. I also improved the hair in both of them.
Masquerade Sakura:
This is a bit of a flashback to when she was pregnant. She attended a masquerade and wore a stork mask. *nodnod*
Laela:
Masquerade Saphire:

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase IV
Astrana looks really good as well. The new Mintbalm looks terrific, and the Masquerade Sakura looks cute, with her pregnant figure and stork mask.
Now, I know this is really lame, that I should have made the keyblades too, but they are really hard!

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase IV
Thanks, Crimmy.
*looks at keyblades. I can't say I blame you. Yeesh, that looks like they'd be painful to draw. As for the avi itself, I quite like it. The motion of the picture is great. That's something I've always had trouble with.
Some may have noticed that most all the avis I've been posting are female. That's partially do to there being quite a few of my own characters among them, which are usually female, but also because I'm changing how I do the male body type. After some extended tweaking and procrastination, here's the first result of the change.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase IV
Welp, I've been productive again. Several more avis made over the last little while.
Aeia:
She's a bit new to clothing, as seen in the second avi.
Mimi:
A bit jumbo sized as she's really only several inches tall.
Updated Sakura:
As opposed to this.
Keo:
According to her player she's most often found with the hood up, but I couldn't resist the hoodless version.
Brinika:
Tiny goblin girl is tiny.
Dorota:
Zjen:
The only part of this picture I can't take credit for is the fire. That's thanks to happyturtle. I'm terrible at fire.
Salix:
Updated Cessie:
As opposed to this.

@Gula:
You are a true monster avatarist. Just how many avatars can you create in a day?!
Awesome work all around, too!
@t209:
Well... you should really check out LankyBugger's Guide to making Avatars in MS Paint. It's not bad, but it has room for a lot of improvement.
@Vodka:
The hat kinda bugs me. Other than that, nice work. I assume it's Inkscape?

Like you can talk, Mr. Crimmy.
Compared to the two of you I think I barely even count as an avatarist, considering my output averages out to about one avatar per month.Originally Posted by Lord Magtok

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase IV
My record for one day is five avatars right now. Saturdays when posting is slow and I have nothing else to do are great for that. Not to mention I was particularly inspired. *nodnod*
Of course, my avis aren't made completely from scratch. I do a bit of grabbing for the basic stuff, like body bits, then I tweak the hell out of them. So that helps with my output certainly.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase IV
Finally broke my avataring funk by completing a request I got almost a month ago! Woo...!
This one is for Lea Plath, as seen in the URL.
Regarding avatars, I think some of the time that I put into mine is because they're almost all made from scratch. A few, specifically ones that are being "upgraded" (such as from this to this) will be not entirely from scratch. The rest I'm too tired to make a baking pun about but the picture is obvious I hope.
Edit: Also drew this!
It's Ghaleon from the Lunar series (specifically, Eternal Blue).Last edited by Derjuin; 2012-05-16 at 03:31 PM.
