Re: Base Class Challenge Chat Thread II
It's not the getting used to servants, it's the having servants.
As a player, I generally take my actions and then direct a small pet who will either be scouting or moving a touch spell or flanking somebody for me. As a minionmancer, I get to take my turn (casting spells, full attacking, whatever), and then take the turns of a host of other creatures with their own abilities and attack rolls and all that. Gameplay bogs down like 40 pros playing SC2 on a y2k server.
3 commanded units should be the max, assuming no one else plays a minionmancer, and if you want to have a lot of zombies or something, make them count as one creature and give it a template called [Horde] or some such.

Re: Base Class Challenge Chat Thread II
I'm going off on the fact that the Money Makers might become the next contest. I just wanted to post an idea that maybe some brewer might find it interesting.
Profession(Teacher) Not really sure where to go with it though.
That's all for now and keep up the awesome work.

Curious! Seems like a tie yet again. Suspenseful. Well done, Silva, you provided a good match, as did all.
Now while I wait for the final call from our dear challenge host I will go back again to studying my ass off for my exams.Homebrewer's Signature | Avatar by Strawberries

Re: Base Class Challenge Chat Thread II
The tiebreaker vote has been cast. Check the voting thread for my post if you want to see praise for your great deeds and whatnot. I'll edit the first post and hopefully post a new contest thread some time before Friday.

Re: Base Class Challenge Chat Thread II
I might try to do a class for this. It's been a while since I did one of these, and from what I recall, they are really good at getting me to do something with a specific theme.

Re: Base Class Challenge Chat Thread II
I've had an idea for this theme for a while, two actually. The Scavenger and the Metallurge. The scavenger essentially builds everything from junk, and makes them well, including making them magic using scavenged strands of it woven directly into the items he makes. The metallurge creates alloys for stronger weapons and armor, has mundane ways of enhancing weapons and armor, and uses alchemy to improve on what he has made.
Which do the people think would be a better option?

Re: Base Class Challenge Chat Thread II
Would I be allowed to make a separate craft skill? I was planning on creating a corpsestiching class that would use craft(Corpsestiching) as a somewhat necromancy artificer, I am not sure if thats in line with the challenge idea though.

Re: Base Class Challenge Chat Thread II
Well...alchemist is too obvious, and scavenger was taken...
Need to figure out something wicked...
Preform screams "bard remake" too hard...
Maybe a profession, as it allows me to come up with pretty much anything i can logically rationalize as a job...(don't worry...I'll avoid the BoEF realm...)

Re: Base Class Challenge Chat Thread II
You can use the same theme as someone else you know, as long as the classes are different enough i don't think it matters much. For a bit of distinction, mine uses a quasi-psionic and incarnum system, much like my Zshar Infuser PrC (see my Sig, the Zshar). Besides that, i may go with the Metallurge instead, which is Craft (Alchemy) and Craft (Blacksmithing), it's based partially on the Master Base Class from Dragonlance War of the Lance (very loosely of course, otherwise it'd be disqualified for plagerism)
Thought I'd clarify and let you know you could use the theme.

Re: Base Class Challenge Chat Thread II
I like the idea of a scavenger a bit more, but that might just be me.
Of course. It would be spelled corpsestitching, I believe, though, for reference, stitch being spelled like that.
This is correct.Homebrew

Re: Base Class Challenge Chat Thread II
I submitted my entry (Merchant of Death) earlier and I had a few questions about the contest since this is my first time entering .
First, how much time do I have to edit the class? Right now, all I have down is a picture, some skill stuff, and minor things. I'd hate for the competition to end and me to have an unfinished class...Saw that all entries are due by April 27th. Sorry!
Second, is it alright that the art for my picture is from the same site as the scavenger's art? I didn't realize it when I found the picture...
Also, am I allowed to change the name of my class? Merchant of death sounds like a PrC...
Thanks!Last edited by Empedocles; 2012-03-21 at 08:48 PM.

Re: Base Class Challenge Chat Thread II
ok, basic plan for the Quack is an alchemy based full caster, now, some opinions.
should I make the concoctions come in 9 levels(as they will be a Quack's spells), or should I just put a level prequest on some of them for higher power affects. I plan to balence them a bit, but specific affects just don't do that well.
should I add other features? Like skill bonuses, or speed increases(running from mobs helps build speed)?Avatar by Szilard, thank you sir for the fine work!
