Re: Base Class Challenge Chat Thread II
I am getting a little disappointed lately because I am not getting feedback for the class, I mean, the contest was great, and peaches flew around freely but once it gets on the board it saddens me
Not anyone's fault I suppose but can you advice me? How should I "advertise" my homebrew?Working on: Anointed Heritor PEACHes are welcome.

Re: Base Class Challenge Chat Thread II
Hiya dude,
I think there are several aspects to this issue. Firstly peaching a class with any kind of depth can take a lot of time and requires a good understanding of the rules and more importantly an initial interest in the class.
I've recently noticed that all a great deal of the classes which seem to get the most interest are either themed around an existing "thing" which people have interest in (an anime character, a computer game character and so on...) or have a very "out there" kind of slant to them. This is a generalisation of course, but by and large a class called say... "Blood Blade" will probably draw less attention than a class based around your favourite anime trope or called something outlandish and wild (probably with some kind of joke in the title).
Should this surprise us however? I mean dnd 3.5 has been around for a LONG time and most of us have been home brewing for a LONG time as well. Many people have seen a gazillion "serious" classes and are frankly bored by them. These folks search out things which are a bit more fun or wacky or relate to something else they know and love. Its understandable
The other issue is the complexity or length of a class entry (such as yours) can be a huge and overwhelming for the viewer. Sure we all like to see a lovely beautiful Magnus Opus of a base class but peaching it is something else entirely!
Just some random thoughts anyway, sadly I don’t think there is very much you can do. Very few of the things I’ve posted even get a page view in the first few days on some forums and on here I’m sometimes lucky to get comments which span over a paragraph. Having said that, I myself am not out there posting essays on everything I see (though I tried my best in the contest) so perhaps that’s just the nature of things? A persons time is a limited resource after all.OMFGWTF!!

*Takes note.*
*Looks at his blood mage* Sorry pal it might take a while for you to see the light then.
Interesting, I can understand that, I guess, its just surprising me that the class has gotten over 200 views and no feedback yet.
Do we have a theme for the next context or it is going to be decided/anounced once the voting ends?Working on: Anointed Heritor PEACHes are welcome.

Re: Base Class Challenge Chat Thread II
I so want to suggest a theme that will fit my nefarious purposes in creating my campaign setting, but that'd prettymuch come down to any one of the ideas based on the titles of any of the characters in this post or these.
But that's because the more I look at the project the bigger it becomes and I'm all like HAWLY BLAAAAAAAAAAAGGHHH @-@Homebrewer's Signature | Avatar by Strawberries

Re: Base Class Challenge Chat Thread II
I like those, I specially like cookies though I like them for a different reason and they might not be a good theme for a challenge.
On the world building thingy if I ever embark myself in a worldbuilding exercise I would need to recruit loads of people to help/support/playtest/keep me from killing myself that I can relate to wanting people to do homebrew based on the classes under the radar.Working on: Anointed Heritor PEACHes are welcome.

Re: Base Class Challenge Chat Thread II
I vote armies and mass combat. I would love to do that contest XD. Might want to extend it to a minion based class though. As plenty of people don't like mass combat.

Re: Base Class Challenge Chat Thread II
Yeah, that would certainly be cool. (I was replying to true-truenaming though I also like mass armies I was thinking more among the lines of supporting several companions or being able to lead greatly)
Another idea that I just got while eating, eating is good, was that we can make characters based on D&D gods, cultist to be, there seem to be quite a few necromancers of Nerull or Radiant servants of Pelor or some among those lines. For myself I am thinking on a true Pelorite, follower of the Blinding Hate and member of the Cult of Light.
Magipunk? Not really what I had in mind though I guess it is an start where is the setting info atm?
EDIT: Found the magipunk had you seen my Arsai they are quite in line with the Chloromorph just slightly more "evil". We even used the same image for them.Last edited by God Imperror; 2012-09-14 at 02:08 PM.

Re: Base Class Challenge Chat Thread II
Armies sounds like a cool theme. It'd include warfare, summoning a copious amount of creatures, and leadership, perhaps among other things.

Ooh, I like the cultist/true believer idea. Published or homebrew deities.
Most of the Magipunk stuff hasn't been ported yet. There's a ton of stuff already written, and it's all posted on minmaxboards here.(member in good standing of the troll-feeder's guild)

Re: Base Class Challenge Chat Thread II
I've been reading over the magipunk idea, and I personally like it, though I find to problems that worry me.
First of all, even if it spins off the tippyverse and brings it one step further I would like to see some fluff, not on the classes but on the world and the races and I don't think that there is much of that. Most cities have only a line for its description, and that makes me a sad panda. A general back story for the whole races/classes would also be appreciated, it might be there and my google fu is failing me hard. (I found the general designer notes helpful)
There is already a ton of stuff Even if the things from outside the setting are limited there are just so many options... I think that the fluff needs more focus than the crunch specially since there is so many things at the moment.Working on: Anointed Heritor PEACHes are welcome.

Re: Base Class Challenge Chat Thread II
It's kinda weird, but I am thinking of colors. Anything to do with them. Have a color in your class name, like Red Mage, or just have the class thematically linked to a color, maybe its abilities named after a color, like the indigo line of feats.

Re: Base Class Challenge Chat Thread II
Oh yes the biggest thing it needs is fluff writeups. I find the mechanics orders of magnitude easier to write than fluff, though I've been practicing with these contest entries
There are several mechanical things yet to do, though -- my homebrew to-do list (which is ridiculously long) has this under Magipunk:
~Inner Plane Nodes
~spellpsicrystal prc & CM+holo prc
~Racial Substitution Levels
~More PrCs
~Repost Xenoalchemy & add Mad Scientist feat
~Fluff for EVERYTHING

Re: Base Class Challenge Chat Thread II
Personally I like the idea of the Inner Planes... says the guy who the only published campaign setting they've ever run is Planescape and is still surfing the euphoria from a successful planescape session. I might be a little biased.
