Really, I could go for an alternate magic-based contest. Any kind of base class, all you need to do is have it use Incarnum/Truenaming/Binding/Invoking/Shadow Magic/your own system.

Where did True Naming come in? Was it from my Words Have Power suggestion? Because that wasn't intended to be strictly truenaming...

Well, I have a Shadowcaster fix that you should use instead of regular shadowcasting. There's also Ritual Magic, the Ætherforge (which is undergoing major updates, check here for the latest version), the Ethos of the Wyrm draconic ideals system (still under construction; minmaxboards link), and then three alternate systems from Magipunk, two of which haven't been ported yet: the Morphling (gitp), the Planeswalker (mmxb), and the Magitechnician (mmxb).

Well themes don't seem to be exclusive, and I don't really know what I might end doing. Thus, it is quite probable that I end doing an alternate magic regardless of the theme, or any of the suggestions using alternate magic as a theme. Did that make sense? Anyways, I believe that if PEACHes follow up the quality/quantity of those in the current contest we might really try exploring alternate subsystems of magic.

I vote for ~~alternate magic~~.

Of course a problem with alternate magic is being easy to follow, not a lot of work and catchy... so I'll vote for army combat and rule of cool (even if I end also doing alternate magic).

If things go the way they're going, I'm prolly not competing in the next one. Nothing against army combat, but if I wanted to do that, I'd roll a marshal and take Leadership or play Chainmail. But then, I was always a mage player, never really liked combat classes until Tome of Battle.

Why couldn't you make an army mage?

Actually, I did just get an idea for a sort of "super-conjurer" that has some auras and a summoning-focused spell list. Not sure what system I wanna use, though. Possibly going with sort of a marshal/arcanist hybrid.
