What is to stop someone from just... lying... on one of those things?

I mean, if it were an interview a skilled person could maybe tell, or some lie detecting magic or technology could be employed...
But if, say, the Dark Lord Chuckles, the Silly Piggy were to try and join, say, AMEN... what would stop him from just saying he was a bad guy?

Theoretically, nothing. It is worth noting that in the example you gave, Dark Lord Chuckles would probably be killed very quickly.

Same if, say, you tried to join GLoG saying you wanted redemption when you had no intention of it. Or with the express intention of harming GLoG, because (not speaking for anyone else's characters, but I'm sure someone else is like this) at the very least, several of my characters wouldn't give them a third chance. Caera, for instance, would, the next time she saw that person, try her hardest to put a sword through their neck.

I imagine a similar principle applies to HALO, WATCHTOWER and NO. No, nothing's theoretically preventing you from lying, but do so at your own risk, because even if the organisation as a whole doesn't go after you for it, at the very least you'd probably be kicked out, and some individual members would probably give you no second chances.

Lying to get into GLoG has been going on since the very beginning. Magtok and Reinholdt are two of the various villains who have done so.

What do they even do?

Though personally I question all characters that join AMEN. When you join an organisation designed to spread evil, you're just a sellout.
Also all the members smell and aren't nearly sexy enough. Yeah, bring it!
It just makes no real sense to lie on an entry form about your intentions if you have a long-term future in mind for your character, and no real sense to join AMEN if you ever want to be trusted.

In other news, the drones are back at GLoG.

I'll write up something for the OP later, but just a couple of notes about the Drones Mk 2:

• Drones are NPCs who can be played by anyone, within the guidelines below
• Their Primary Function is member safety
• They no longer have teleport beams or alignment scanners
• They do have stun beams and the ability to record what's going on around them
• They follow orders, unless those orders conflict with their Primary Function
• There are only 10-12 in operation at any one time
• They can be destroyed, but if so, they'll be restored from backup
• A few have been supplied with medical programming, and thus can be godmodded for infirmary duties.
• Sadly, they have no cake fixation. Sunny arrived after the Top Secret Cake Baking Kitchen had been abandoned.

I know really want Friend to join GloG, a seventeenth Century Ex-Fae + robot drones gotta result in something hilarious.
