Goblins V: It's Hard-Kore!
Discussion of the Goblins Comic. We do it here.

One of the more frequent sources of confusion is what people are talking about when we're referring to IME's. Here is the comic's explaination of what they are. And now you know.

Re: Goblins V: It's Hard-Kore!
I spy with my little eye some additional eyes on Kore's face.

Re: Goblins V: It's Hard-Kore!
Look above the mouth.
And then above his eye.
I actully expected him to be one eyed instead of multi eyed, but I did expect his face to be horribly twisted.
Do you think we will see his face in the next strip, or do you think Thunt will drag the suspension and we will only see Kore`s face much later? The goblins will run as fast as they could, so they wouldn`t see his face, so it makes sense that Thunt will move on, maybe to dies horribly or minmax.Madly In Science, an RPG in which you play mad scientists, you can get it for free.
Spoiler: Some other things.

Re: Goblins V: It's Hard-Kore!
Speculation: could it be that Kore's helmet (and the rest of his armor) blocks the "Lay on Hands" ability and that's why he took off his helmet?

Re: Goblins V: It's Hard-Kore!
I don't know. Could be and makes sense, but those white spots look suspiciously a lot like eyes.
I was going to complain about how Kore would need some time to reload his crossbow but he has a thingy for that. Then I was going to moan about how bummed I will be if lay on hands removes the rope, but I've already done that.
So, I will just say I'm gripped by the recent comics.

Re: Goblins V: It's Hard-Kore!
Um... No. It may or may not be his nose, but that REALLY looks like an eye above his eye.
Maybe... Kore is a semi-polymorphed Beholder? Eye-touched? Yikes! Min/Maxed monster/paladin? Some players come up with some crazy combonations, all to "win" a game that is not really meant to be "won."Thanks to Ceika (X2), Yeril, Holammer and Dr. Bath for the Avatars!

Re: Goblins V: It's Hard-Kore!
Maybe Kore has piercings?
And it looks like his helmet attaches under his chin, and he probably wears it snug, so detaching it will make it easier to speak.

I think Kore is going to have chuncks of his flesh missing, showing his skull.

The other half of his face will be half of Thaco's fathers face stitched onto Kores head half.

I still don't understand why he needs to be able to speak to Lay on Hands.

Re: Goblins V: It's Hard-Kore!
presumably it requires a vocal component in Thunt's setting?

Re: Goblins V: It's Hard-Kore!
So - what would Lay on Hands actually do? Just restore his HPs? Does it actually remove the rope? If it removes the rope ... would it ... leave empty spaces where the rope was? I never played AD&D, so excuse my question.

Re: Goblins V: It's Hard-Kore!
Okay, asking the other way round, what does Lay on Hands actually do? I mean, what does the rules text say - does it just close wounds and restore hitpoints? Is it able to regenerate bodyparts? Would it leave scars?

Re: Goblins V: It's Hard-Kore!
Its possible that the Lay on hands won’t remove the rope, but just sort of move the atoms around a bit so its more comfortable. still gunna have a huge chunk of rope through his flesh though, it just wont hurt as much.

Re: Goblins V: It's Hard-Kore!
Alternatively he could be losing HP from having that rope where ropes don't normally belong, and is trying to Lay on Hands to stabilize himself. That type of thing's bound to cause some massive internal bleeding. Once he's stabilized he'll probably take the time to figure out how to get it out of him. Or just stop caring that it's there at all.

Re: Goblins V: It's Hard-Kore!
Telefrag by rope, isn't certainly a common thing, so the magic needed to "cure" it, probably it's uncertain even for a magic user of goblins' world.
My guess, is that Kore is simply hoping that Lay on Hands will give some relief.
After all, in his place, everyone would use everything at disposal to end the pain...Do I contradict myself?
