Re: Murphy's Law 6: Will we ever stop burning through threads so quickly?
Why is it a good idea...
...to take a poisonous fish...
...put it in a hole in the ground...
...urinate into the hole...*
...pile a lot of rocks on it...
...let it ferment for six to twelve weeks...
...dig it up again...
...and then eat it?
This part was apparently an urban legend.Last edited by Asta Kask; 2011-05-30 at 02:23 PM.

Wow, really? I don't know why people would think that's a good idea either.

Re: Murphy's Law 6: Will we ever stop burning through threads so quickly?
Actually it's quite ingenious.
It's an Icelandic dish called Hakarl. The fish contains a toxin called Trimethylamineoxide. In contact with urea it is converted into ammonia and something else (I couldn't find details, but my guess is carbon dioxide).
So you pile a lot of rocks on it to press the poison out. And the fish contains its own urea.
Now, Scandinavia was a desperately poor part of Europe. So the Icelanders had a very good reason to use all the fish they caught. What really boggles the mind is - how did they figure this out? My guess is that pressing the toxins out came first - it's a rather natural idea.
And it's not done exactly like that anymore. It's done in factories where they have presses.
Edit: Fortunately for Coffee, it's apparently Kosher.Last edited by Asta Kask; 2011-05-30 at 02:24 PM.

Yeah. I have to say, the idea of being an outcast of the elves would be FUN. And I think a PbP would be FUN, too.

So I assume a Paladin would be out, then? Snap.
Oh, and Coffee, IS there any chance you'd GM (or let someone else GM) a Murphy's Law PbP?

Re: Murphy's Law 6: Will we ever stop burning through threads so quickly?
Well, with the elves of the major families you'd still be okay, if the butt of a few jokes, if you went to be a cleric or druid (remember, the Elvish deity Isarus was a wizard and magic is one of Isarus' domains). But to have no magical ability at all...
I'd love to; I hope I can find the time for a short one. And I don't know how to GM.My webcomic!
