Re: LGBTAitp - Part Twelve
Myself and several of my friends often use vajayjay, and if we're ever patronising to women it's meant purely ironically.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Twelve
Well, what do you want us to say? I'm of the personal opinion that the entire mental side of gender systems has about as much intrinsic value as your average twinkie, and contains 40% less delicious cream-like filling.
You like crossdressing. I like crossdressing. I don't feel it's part of my gender identity, I just feel like some dresses compliment my shoulders nicely and I resent vaguely that wearing them isn't an alternative to shirt and tie at most events but not enough to make a fuss apart from (openly) vocalizing my unhappiness. I can't speak to the same for you.
If you don't like being shoehorned into a societal role, there's nothing really that can be said apart from "Well, then don't let yourself be." If it's not worth making a fuss over, then it's not worth making a fuss over. So, if you tell us which side of advice you'd like us to come down on, we can parrot that back. But providing you with your own identity seems to lack forward momentum on identity resolution.

I've kind of neglected these threads as of late, but I figured I'd drop by a note that I saw an open lesbian couple last week.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Twelve
So I was talking with a friend of mine yesterday and he asked me: why does L has a seperate letter from G? And I realized that I'm not really clear on the answer. Why are they two different letters? Why can we be BATH: Bisexuals, Asexuals, Trans people, and Homosexuals? Or we could add an I and be LIGBAT or LAGBIT or something you else can say in one or two sylables....
Usually the people I know who use it are pretending to be idiots when the do so.
Sorry, I just had nothing to really say about it. The entire topic is ambiguous.
Nice. I always love seeing gay couples, they tend to be quite cute.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Twelve
Really? It seems quite Roman or spontaneously Western to me. Also, I'm not sure it's that much of a stereotype. Bathhouses seem quite popular with some of the gay people I know - I'll admit this is a relatively limited sampling, though. The fact that I also know where at least 2 are, despite never having been to one also should say something.

The term in Sweden is HBT - HomoBiTrans.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Twelve
I like BATH too!
You know, I don't think I've ever heard anyone using "homoerotic" to mean woman-on-woman erotic, only man-on-man. Is there a different word? Should there be?

I think I've heard "sapphoerotic" to refer to women.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Twelve
I think it's used more for boy-on-boy because supposedly straight girls can be more affectionate than sailors fresh to port with their girlfriends without causing as much as a raised eyebrow, while boys can't get away with even standing near each other.
At least, that's how it looks to me, but I admit I have little experience with social interaction and society in general. ^_^'Treasured Quotes

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Twelve
ok, how about, "the cogiati test is a worthless piece of dismorphia-inducing bleep that should never have been written, let alone publicised. It was not written by a professional psychiatrist, but by a transwoman who is known to have mental health issues beyond gender identity. No self-respecting psychiatrist in the field would ever resort to a questionnaire such as this as a primary means of diagnosis, and even as a supporting piece of diagnosis it is very flaky. Many of the questions are about stereotypical behaviours that a significant fraction of ciswomen would fail to answer correctly.
About the ONLY value that the cogiati test has is that, the moment before you press the button to see the results, you may for a fleeting moment think about what you want the result to be.
If you have gender identity issues, you'll know it long before any computer test reveals it to you.
If you want to explore your gender identity through cross dressing, go wild. If you want to take hormones or do anything permanent to your body, seek professional advice first, to make sure you know what you want. In any case, any shrink who tells you what you are (as opposed to helping you discover what you are) is a quack.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Twelve
Rarer to run into a situation where it'd be appropriate to apply the term to a pair of women before hitting direct foreplay to sex, is a fair part of it, I believe, due to social mores. Generally don't actually use it for same-sex sexual intercourse for whatever reason, but occasionally more eccentric types will use it on rare occasions in such a way.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Twelve
Uh... I think it's more (or more commonly) applied to innuendo and subtext than blatant homosexual relations. Top Gun is homoerotic. Brokeback Mountain is just gay

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Twelve
Only because they secretly want to join us.
To be fair there is some validity to such tests as the questions usually are fairly obvious of what kind of answer you will get. Thus you will (intentionally or not) skew the test to get the result you desire, so it can show you what you want but are afraid to admit.
Also, while seeking professional aid is generally required for hormones, I don't think it is needed as much as having an understanding of the full effects and risks of messing around with your body chemistry. Of course, the nice thing about health care professionals is that they should have this understanding and be able to impart it to you. If they aren't too busy being jerks.
This.
Also, sapphic erotica tends to be big on the word "lesbian" - which I suspect is because it lends itself to being marketed to straight men in addition to lesbians.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Twelve
Since I posted this I've been on a fabulous adventure that began with me typing "homoerotic" into Google and has just ended now because it's 20 past 5 and I should really change out of my pyjamas and do things...!
But I did find some people using homoerotic in a lesbian context.
