    Bloodied and with some tears on his clothes and with a foul mood Ishmael continues down the passageway. He stops for a moment to check the other two traps he found and out of spite he tries to disarm them just to annoy whoever will eventually have to fix them again.

    Satisfied whether he managed it or not he continues down the path trying to find a way to jump accross the first pit without impaling himself to death.

    First he tries to use his rope and grapnel to make it catch accross and use it so that he can crawl on it and pass accross. If that doesnt seem doable he will indeed try to jump.

    Also do I get XP for the two traps I found (pressure plate and magical) since I managed to bypass them or do I only get if I disarm them or activate them?

    I will try to disarm them anyway out of spite as mentioned so here goes nothing:

    Pressure plate (1d20+15)[17]
    Magical (1d20+15)[34]

    And then it depends, if I can use rope and grapnel to pass over the trap with the poison spikes thats good. Otherwise would I be able to climb down and move through the spears and use the rope to climb up or are the spears far to many to fit through?

    If neither of these is possible I have to jump... the DC is 10 for 10 feet long jump which is still not nice with my jump of 3 :D

    Perhaps at some point we can join in a mission... so far Ishmael is not the killer I had thought him as inittially... though this is about to change if I make it alive to that bastard that sent me down the traps...

    You disable the magical trap, but not the pressure plate. Neither did you set it off.

    250 xp for the one you did disable. Bypassing the trap entirely specifically doesn't earn you a reward.


    Without the room to make a proper running leap (there's no room to go five feet up as you go ten feet across), the dc is doubled.

    The rope and grapnel seems possible, provided you can secure it.

    Would a take 10 work on this? And would it be enough?

    With a take 10 I wound end up at 19.

    Well... I guess its a dangerous part to try and be heroic...

    I will use the rope and kind of "hang" from it... you know like in movies where the cool guy balances and walks through the tight rope while the lame kid just puts his feet around it and pushes himself accross slowly and weakly...

    I still think it will need a check, I just hope the DC is lesser :)

    In general I believe I have a very low climb skill (since its STR based) probably something like 4-5 points max... but on balance I have 6 from dex +2 from silk rope and +2 from tumble so a total of +10 which may beat any basic DC check...

    So what DCs am I looking at?

    Taking 10 then for a total of 20 then... I can even walk on a rope with that much... I think... so grabbing for sweet life on it may be easier!



    Ishmael is no fool. He wraps himself with the rope making a basic noose around his waist like a belt so that if he falls he doesnt die instantly impaled and poisoned.

    As this makes his fear go away somehow he starts moving across the rope with careful and slow and deliberate pushes a few feet at a time.

    Ishmael unhooks the rope and takes it with him as he sighs in relief for having managed this. The Jacks are a more serious threat than he had imagined and if the man lied about the traps he could have just as well lied about everything else.

    He returns to the room, the cold calculating style having returned. He drags the man in the corridor and by the pit with the poisoned spiked and slaps him around trying to make him regain consiousness.

    "I am displeased sir. Not only because I gave you the chance to survive but because I trusted you. I am unhappy with myself even more than I am with you." he said and paused to let it sink it.

    "I am stepping over my usual boundaries and give you a last chance. Tell me what more lies have you told me and I shall leave you here to live though I will send the guard after you. Lie once again and the pit that you wanted me to die in shall be your fate. And know one thing, I survived the death passage your masters created... I am powerful enough to ensure the poison kills you slowly and painfully" he said and looked the man straight in the eyes.

    Man I really wanna throw him to the spikes but I just cant do it...



    Ishmael spits at the man and punches him squarely in the face one last painful time but makes sure he doesnt fall in the pit as he falls unconsious yet again.

    He grumbles to himself about how his association with the Tiefling has made him soft and ineffective and turns back to the main room carefully in case more lies were told and someone has come for the thug.

    Carefully and with precision he moves the carpet away and searches for traps and secret passages.

    Ishmael carefully opens the trapdoor from the other way around so that he wont be immidiatetly visible from the opening and only after a few seconds of silence does he look down.

    If there seems to be no danger he goes down the ladder or stairs very carefully and methodically and once at the bottom melds with the shadows again.

    He continues down this path taking care for any obvious traps for now depending on how long and big this path is. He also uses the Hat to take the appearance of the thug just in case.

    It is a rather narrow passage, unlit, but definitely longer than your 60 ft. darkvision can perceive.

    double-checked. You were right. You did search him.

    He had 3 torches on his person. However, your darkvision is effective to a longer distance and doesn't ruin your concealment.
