As it turns out, there is an art to sucking at drawing when you don't actually suck.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, Mk. XXXIII: DeeganBallZ
There's an art in making SBaHJ look as bad as it does. I've tried making DD x SBaHJ slays and it's a challenge to make it look as stylistically bad as well as it manages to.
Eh, I'll probably still keep tabs on the comic, just not daily. I might catch up on weekends. It's not worth following a daily comic if it averages less than one development per week.Last edited by Trazoi; 2011-02-24 at 09:56 PM.

My maiden rant in the snark thread was about that. I've come to terms with it...

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, Mk. XXXIII: DeeganBallZ
I thought of two things that would make today's strip make more sense.
One is if Dominic were actually BRIAN BLESSED.
The other is if, instead of a sketch, he made a macaroni sculpture.
On the other hand, my mind is in so much pain right now that I'm not sure if that's right.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, Mk. XXXIII: DeeganBallZ
I'll admit I haven't read most of this comic, so the one with the dog was new by me.
... that line "Hmph. He seems to have a little bladder" falls REALLY flat for me.
Shouldn't that be something like... no, I can't think of a good line about talking about the size of one's bladder to show that he peed. So instead, I propose
"I guess he just had a big gulp."
oh wait. fantasy world. Let's see, time to use the utmost of my mookie-esque creativity to devise an alternative!
"I guess he just had ye big gulpe."

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, Mk. XXXIII: DeeganBallZ
Indeed, there was once a dog. It even had a name and a crazy old man owner.
Bite harder, Imperius Rex!
Terrible drawing of a dog, but one of the comics that's come closest to getting a real laugh from me. Something about old guys kicking the hell out of people.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, Mk. XXXIII: DeeganBallZ
Five panels. Dominic's talking about THE BEAST and the Plane of Boom for five panels and Mookie manages not to write any new information into this.
It's the kind of badness that takes true talent and dedication to achieve.
Also, Gregory's probably right, but I wouldn't be so excited about it. Maybe he likes teddy bears.

Just think about the scream of
the Beastthe DESTROYER, only louder and lamer.
I've been think about Greg's face and had an epiphany. We know he went to alterist but didn't use her skill for his new haircut (which would be beneath an alterist's caliber anyway). Now look at the Face. Greg was moping about his meh looks when he preformed with his first band. Obviously he went to the alterist to get a face-lift. The ultimate face-lift. The unchanging Grin and wide eyes are the result.

You will be missed, Trazoi. I can tell we can't convince you to stay, but you will be missed.
This has gotten pretty painful, hasn't it? Filler. Facebath. Nonsense.
Forget Snuggly. I'm more scared of Smuggly in p.8 there.

Well, I'm fresh and new! I haven't wasted years reading this thing (in fact, I've read and enjoyed Dominic Durgan, but haven't read more than two arcs of Deegan). So for me, this boredom is prime snarking material! Go, you have earned your rest! You have prooved the justice of our culture! Let the next generation of embittered webcomic readers take your place!

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, Mk. XXXIII: DeeganBallZ
OK, serious question here.
When Mookie sits down to write, what do you think he honestly aims for? What do you think really gives him the satisfaction of a job well done? What do you think he looks at with a sense of pride and the ability to say "today, I have succeeded"?
I'm serious. We're not Mookie (right? Right?), so we may never know for certain, but there's a certain amount of conjecture which might be valid. In the Beginning Was the Word, and the Word Was Suck: A Guide to Truenamers
