Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, Mk. XXXIII: DeeganBallZ
It sure does! That's why it's on the wiki - so ANYONE can update it!
Speaking of, I've added Saint Ridley's rules of Slaughterball to the wiki.

It's okay guys, Randy is actually a nerd about mythology, not a jock.
The good guys are still flawless, and the sun still rises and sets on Dominic.Last edited by rocketpony; 2011-03-02 at 01:24 AM.

I want to create a magic item called the plot bat. Whenever they don't bother advancing the plot and waste time with this stupid interpersonal crap that goes nowhere, I will whip it out and beat them with it.

Yes, seers and oracles are the things legends are made of. Even if in this case it's an enforced status.

So Tusky wasn't a clueless metalhead, he was just giving obeisance to the Dominus's mighty intellect. And again, if being a seer makes Dominic so mythical, what was he doing in Lynn's Brook finding people's keys?
When in doubt, light something on fire.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, Mk. XXXIII: DeeganBallZ
Ha, it really was a pissing contest and even Mookie acknowledges it.
Also, Gregory knows a lot about Randy, considering they met a few weeks ago. I guess Randy actually pulled the same thing Dominic attempted yesterday, except Gregory walked right into it (without ever realizing it).
I would say something about this again adding to Dominic's and Luna's Sue levels, however, the unimportant secondary character adoring them for no real reason is that weird kid with the trenchcoat, so...

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, Mk. XXXIII: DeeganBallZ
Alright, I'll admit I've been glossing over these past few comics. I couldn't care less about Randy or how he God worships the Deegans. Might be why I thought he said "You got a pretty mouth!" in the last panel. The comic was better when I could imagine Randy immediately smashing Luna in the face with a baseball bat.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, Mk. XXXIII: DeeganBallZ
Technically, if he was using a MAGIC hammer, that probably counts as a form of Alterism.
But yeah.... Today's comic is more of what we had last year; supporting characters getting the shallowest of 'development' which is ultimately a coded message for them wandering around going "I wonder where the First Caste are today?"
If we go back to another bloody Arc about Gregory and his godsforsaken band, I think I will be jumping on the last bandwagon out of Snark Town. I barely survived the first time; Once More With Feeling is about all that I can take.~ CAUTION: May Contain Weasels ~

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, Mk. XXXIII: DeeganBallZ
I'll do an unexpected thing, I'll give Mookie some credit;
At least the transmission from the last "arc" or whatever it was to this one was pretty seamless, say what you want about the actual content () but another cut to an obscure character who isn't even interacting with the main guys like Nimmel at this point could've ended in me just deleting this comic from my read list.
The fact that it just slid from one story into the other, barring the fact that the quality, as always, is not high as it should be, makes it all seem more relevant, shallow as it might be.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, Mk. XXXIII: DeeganBallZ
I did chuckle at "I like your mouth."
It was stupid enough to work.
Also, another art tutorial (mildly nsfw at the end) it might pay Mookie to learn and work from. It covers the "Stunt's Head" issue nicely.

I thought Luna had had her tusks removed in panels one and two for a while there. I was pretty confused.

"He's a seer. A freaking oracle. That's the stuff mythology is made of."
Except thy live in a kingdom of wizards, so I can't imagine seer's are that out of the ordinary. And it also raises the question, what would mythology look like in a kingdom of wizards?

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, Mk. XXXIII: DeeganBallZ
The strange thing is that he clearly CAN do more variety than he exercises, but the best example I've seen of it was his sketchings of mongrelfolk.
To be honest, I think Mookie's better at drawing mongrelfolk than he is deeganverse people (I won't comment on people in general, since apparently the deeganverse's art style has become deliberate for Mookie and may not apply to future works). It's a shame that the established background for the wild edge means either we're not going to see many mongrelfolk or Mookie is going to catch a ton of flak for it if we do.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, Mk. XXXIII: DeeganBallZ
This seems to be more evidence that:
1. In the Dominion, having ridiculous godpowers just comes naturally with being a seer, and
2. Seers are actually very rare, which is why everyone in the Dominion doesn't spend their entire lives absolutely terrified of the aforementioned ridiculous godpowers.
