I always just assumed he picked the first one that appeared in the smilies box on the right (it changes for some reason) and let everyone wonder exactly what the smilies were for. That seems a very Burlewian thing to do.

This is entirely unfounded because I can't be bothered to check (so is likely to b entirely false), but I think each subforum has it's own arrangement of smilies.

Also: clicking on threads you don't remember seeing before, & then seeing yourself as the second poster is a bit odd.

Edit 3: Got a ruler. At 48-pt font, the whole thing added up to 940 cm between all the lines, meaning the above poster predicts strip #1742.

And extrapolating the current rate of comics, with an added burst of possible double updates every other year for two months we get something along the lines of; "OOTS will be finished in about 12-14 years."
