Hakhpur
The gnoll sorcerer finally calms down after seeing the new creature.
"I see," he says. "So this is your true face, huh?"
Pointing his chain towards it, Hakhpur tries to get knowledge about the firey creature's weaknesses. "Let's see what you're made of..."

Hakhpur
Hakhpur grins. "As expected, you're vulnerable to low temperatures, huh?"
"Listen everyone!" he shouts to his comrades. "Her insanity doesn't allow her to stand mental punishment, and also, use cold against her!!"
With the radiant aura whirling around him, Hakhpur held his staff with both hands and launched a humming, cold blast of shockwaves to his fiery opponent.

Re: [Hourglass of Zihaja D&D 4e] Heroes on a Sea of Swords IC
Medinah
Undaunted, Medinah stands firm before the fire. "Even gods may dissipate, as you surely will here," she taunts matter-of-factly, before calling down a curse upon the spirit of flame.
With a quick gesture her blade's aura suddenly turns bluish-white and is covered in ice crystals, which Medinah thrusts into the fiery maelstrom. Then, drawing her blade back and putting her free hand forward, the warforged summons a shimmering shield of force to protect her from the flames.
Spoiler
Minor action: Warlock's Curse on the fire ghost. I don't know if I mentioned before but Medinah gains a +2 item bonus to all defenses against cursed enemies.
Standard action: Frigid Blade @ the fire ghost.
Int (weapon) vs. AC: (1d20+21)[37]
Hit: (1d8+10)[12] cold damage; if the target begins its turn adjacent to me it takes a -6 penalty to speed until the end of its next turn, and a -2 penalty to melee or close attacks against my allies until the end of my next turn.
Move converted to minor action: Entering Host of Shields stance. Until the stance ends, Medinah gains a +2 power bonus to AC and Reflex.
So her current defenses are 37 AC, 30 Fort, 31 Ref, 26 Will.

Re: [Hourglass of Zihaja D&D 4e] Heroes on a Sea of Swords IC
Standing slightly behind Medinah, Amirah first commands the wolf to stay back, and then follows Medinah's lead. Her form solidifies, and the totem in her hand starts to form strange patterns as the air around her drops in temperature. With a last wave, she breathes forward, her breath multiplied by her magic as it washes around Medinah and pushes against the fiery ball. However, the intense heat easily defeats the attack. Amirah skips back, out of the reach of the heat.

"What in-" Rahman exclaims as the firey explosion rushes past him, singing him slightly in his wake. "Thrice-cursed and blasted ship!" He added as he ran out back onto the deck. The Fang of the Deep - Enemy Phase
As Amirah moves away, the fire elemental reaches out a golden tendril and slaps her with it as Amirah goes by. The dart trap lashes out with unprecedented ferocity, savaging Teshiq.
SpoilerAmirah takes 23 fire damage from an opportunity attack, which lets you know now that the Avatar has Threatening Reach! Dart trap rolls a crit. Teshiq takes 30 damage and ongoing 10 poison damage (save ends). Medinah takes the 8 fire from the aura.
You will pay for that! screeches the elemental as Medinah's frosty attack lands. But she suddenly finds herself compelled and mentally cut off by Rahman's Aegis... and frozen in place, unable to respond to it. Despite that, she summons a bolt of fire to attack Rahman's mind, though the mindflame attack fails. Medinah takes that opportunity to make a swift strike.
SpoilerShe misses on her actual attack for the turn. Scylfing, feel free to roll Medinah's AoO. I also assumed that Kihtsah took a minor action on his turn to use his Oath on the Avatar.

Re: [Hourglass of Zihaja D&D 4e] Heroes on a Sea of Swords IC
Amirah, Living Swarm
Amirah stands as close as she can to the ghost, the heat just barely singing her outermost insects. Her attacks have been ineffectual, but there is one thing she can do to help the rest of the team fight. Giving her enemy no warning, she throws herself forward, sending a stream of insects surging directly towards her face. Their speed, plus a bit of magic on the side, protects them as they make through the heated air and break through to the center, where they buzz around her head, obscuring her vision, distracting her and generally being in the way.

The Fang of the Deep - Enemy Phase
As Amirah's pet wolf advances, the spirit lashes out, but her attack goes horribly wide and the wolf is left unscathed. Meanwhile, as Kihtsah advances onto the lower deck, the trap fires again. It fails horrendously as well - the devastating assault against Teshiq was likely an utter fluke.
SpoilerAll enemy off-turn actions are failures.
You will all burn! Starting with you, little one! she screams as she flings another firebolt at Rahman. Once again, the mind-affecting attack misses its mark entirely. In her frustration, she expands her aura again, intensifying the heat.
SpoilerShe misses on her actual attack for the turn... again. That's anticlimactic. Her aura grows out to another square in radius, and it now deals 11 damage instead of 8. Even though she hasn't moved, I will have a new map up tonight or tomorrow afternoon.

Amirah, Living Swarm
(Edit)
Amirah's swarm still extends beyond her, but with the ghost just out of reach, Amirah's core decides to change tactics. Concentrating, she recalls much of the swarm, leaving just a few hardy insects behind to continue the harassing. Her shape shimmers, then defines itself and Amirah starts her chanting once more. This time, however, she feels a westerly breeze and at the last minute, she changed her call to strengthen it.
The wind's force is multiplied and the sea foam ices and starts falling as snow, hitting the ghost like a battering ram. Incapable of moving thanks to Medinah's curse, the ghost is dragged before the wolf. Even though his fur is on fire and clearly in pain, he remain loyal and doesn't wait for Amirah's command to jump at the ghost, savaging her and forcing her downwards.

The Fang of the Deep - Enemy Phase
Medinah's spell lands, and as the Avatar takes the opening to squeeze in an attack, she misses horribly. Rahman and Kihtsah both approach her for attacks, provoking yet more attacks, both of which also miss. Rahman misses his mark, but Kihtsah launched the great fire beast into the sky outside the ship, held in place by Medinah's magic.
SpoilerAll enemy off-turn actions are failures... again. She is bloodied by Kihtsah's attacks.
No! This is not right! No no no! You cannot win! comes the childish voice again, superseding the firey apocalyptic voice that the Hunters had become accustomed to. She uses her mindfire on Rahman, at last successful, leaving his hurt and dazed. Free of the risk of Rahman's Aegis of Shielding, she turns her gaze on the foredeck and unleashed a gout of necrotic fire. her breath weapon has given up its ongoing effects for more sheer power. She avoids the explosive crates for some reason - perhaps she does not want to risk destroying the ship and losing her quarries beneath the waves. Amirah and her Wolf escape the biting fire, but Medinah and Hakhpur are critically damaged. She then laughs maniacally as she expands her aura of heat once more.
SpoilerRahman takes 14 damage and is dazed UENT. Misses both Wolf and Amirah with the Breath Weapon, but she crits BOTH Hakhpur AND Medinah. Hakhpur and Medinah each take 46 fire and necrotic damage.

Medinah
"Impossible..." Medinah can be heard to mutter as she realizes the Avatar's breath weapon will easily overwhelm her warding and even her force shields. At the very last moment, the warforged makes a strange gesture and immediately she's cocooned in an opaque black sphere; but once the gout of necrotic flame had passed, the cocoon melts away, leaving Medinah unscathed.
Spoiler
Immediate reaction: Shielding Shades, reduce the damage she took from that attack to 0.

Re: [Hourglass of Zihaja D&D 4e] Heroes on a Sea of Swords IC
Amirah, Living Swarm
Amirah observes pleased as the flaming enemy is pushed out of the boat and finally in a position to be dunked. "Time to get your bath!" she calls out to no-one in particular. Moving forward to the edge of the ship, she calls on the water to rise up and pull her down into its wet embrace.

Re: [Hourglass of Zihaja D&D 4e] Heroes on a Sea of Swords IC
Amirah, Living Swarm
As the burning creature is dragged down to the water by the giant waves called by Amirah, the swarm being practically radiates satisfaction, all its insects buzzing at once. She stands at the edge and, with careful and detailed movements, she starts to open a portal to the swamplands. Unlike the portal that brought the wolf, however, this portal almost dwarfs the ghost herself. With a few last intricate gestures, Amirah completes her summon, and a massive 20 feet long crocodile bursts through the portal, jaws open and immediately snaps several times at the ghost, while Amirah mentally commands the wolf to back away.
AP: Standard: Summon Crocodile @ A7-B8, underwater (diagonally adjacent to the ghost)
AP: Free: Give Standard Order to Crocodile: attack again

Re: [Hourglass of Zihaja D&D 4e] Heroes on a Sea of Swords IC
Hakhpur
"Heck, this spell was meant to be used on many enemies at a time, but... I just hate that thing!"
Bloodied, but empowered by Amirah's, Medinah's and Kihtsah's presences, Hakhpur focused and concentrated on Dhuqa's position. Soon, his eyes seemed to glow white as the sky seemed to darken for a while before he gathered raw energies from the blazing Dhuqa itself.
When Hakhpur released them, the multi-colored energies fell violently from above, landing on the monster itself in a blast of dazzling lightning and powerful psychic waves.
Then he moved swiftly.
Standard: Prismatic Lightning @ area burst 2 centered on A8
Move: Shift to E2 (Amirah's former space), +1 AC and Reflex

Miss: Half damage (19)

Re: [Hourglass of Zihaja D&D 4e] Heroes on a Sea of Swords IC
The Fang of the Deep - Enemy Phase
Ge-get off me, you damn creature! screeches the fire elemental. Try as she might, though, she cannot escape the crocodile's jaws, having forfeit her phasing ability for her fiery corona. Despite this, she still unleashes her breath weapon on the ship, blasting through the crates of explosives and aiming it at Rahman and Teshiq. The ship is too in the way, however - even unconscious, Teshiq is unscathed, and Rahman avoids it easily. She lashes out with a flaming tendril at the crocodile, She then focuses on her aura, expanding it again.
SpoilerHer breath weapon busts up the ship really badly, but I gave Rahman and Teshiq Total Cover against the attack, so it ended up missing both of them. The aura is now 5 squares and deals 14 damage. The croc will take half damage from the aura, but the water does nothing against actual fire attacks. He takes 18 damage from the tendril, and 5 damage from the aura last turn. Kihtsah took 11 damage from the aura last turn as well. Everyone else was outside it.
