    Amirah, Living Swarm

With the flames around the ghost becoming unbearable, Amirah can only hope the water will protect the crocodile for just long enough. Still trying to get the ghost underwater, he calls once more on the winds to push her further down.

Meantime, the crocodile continues to attack the ghost from bellow the water, even with much of its top now blistered from the heat.

The Fang of the Deep - Enemy Phase

The ghost shrieks as she is submerged by the cool wind, but she still evades the attack of the crocodile. Nonetheless, it keeps her solidly locked in its jaws.

    Spoiler

Submerging her has the following effect:
    - While submerged, her current aura size is decreased by 1
    - The maximum radius of her aura is decreased by 1

She takes 8 damage from Amirah's spell, but the Croc is unsuccessful.

"We're starting to break up!" Rahman shouted as a warning to the others. Partially a moot warning, he supposed, given the entire crew could still swim and breathe underwater, but always just sound tactics to let others know what was happening. "I'll be up there in a moment!" he said, moving to the priest's corpse and setting his scimitar against in a surgical manner.

The Fang of the Deep - Enemy Phase

The spirit shrieks again as Kihtsah drags her completely below the surface, but she manages a firey lash as he passes her in the air, searing him. The crocodile easily reorients itself to keep its jaws clamped on the firey foe.

She then wriggles free from the Crocodile, and it wriggles back up to the surface and into the air above her two water-bound foes. Her aura returns to its full strength for a moment, and then erupts in a massive conflagration, narrowing down to its original size and badly burning all her foes.

    Spoiler
    Show
Kihtsah takes 22 fire & necrotic damage from the AoO (I assume Rahman uses his Aegis, which reduces it to 8 damage). She then escapes the croc as a move action, and then uses a power to shift 4 squares back into the air, foregoing a proper attack this round. Then her aura explodes, dealing 20 fire damage to all in the aura and returning to its original size. The water shields a bit, though. So:

    Kihtsah takes net 18
    Amirah takes 20
    Croc takes 10
    Medinah takes 20
    Rahman takes 20
    Teshiq takes 20 (destabilizing him)

None of that includes your end-of-turn damages from last turn.

The aura's back to doing 5 damage.

The gnoll sorcerer, still weakened, doubted a moment if he should concentrate on healing or blast the monster away. The fire thing resisted on of his most powerful spells, so that meant the team was facing an opponent stronger than expected.

The Fang of the Deep - Enemy Phase

I told you it was futile fighting me! You will all burn! She expands her aura once more and unleashes another gout of deadly flames at Medinah and Amirah. Medinah's curse protects Amirah in combination with Rahman's Aegis; the brunt of the attack is then taken by the Kobold's magery, protecting the warforged. The fire spirit veritably squeals in frustration.

    Spoiler
    Show
She's immobilized, so no change to the map. Her breath weapon hits only Medinah (it would have hit Amirah, if not for the penalty from Medinah's curse) and then Rahman presumably lowers the damage, making it 4 fire and necrotic damage (wow, pathetic). Her aura's one bigger, but I don't think that's worth a map update. If you guys really want one, since I know some of you shifted around a bit, I'm happy to oblige.

The Fang of the Deep - Boss Transition!

As the cool winds strike her, she shrieks in pain. The fires are extinguished, and the ghost hovers once more in the air. She begins crying. This is not fair! Vertasi promised me! He promised I would get to kill people! But I haven't even gotten to kill a single person! I hate him! I hate you! You ruined my fun! She begins to spin, wisps of her being flung this way and that, and then with a final screech, she is gone.

From behind the Hunters, one of the she-da-zhong pirates rises. His weapon is out instantaneously, dripping suddenly with magical venom. A second weapon coalesces in his hand from the air around him, and seems to blurr in the air, vibrating slightly. With an inhumanly quick movement, he darts into the Hunters on the foredeck, tearing through them with his two weapons before arriving at the stairs and hopping down into the belowdecks area. Medinah and Hakhpur manage to block the attacks from the vibrating sword, but the venomous sword strikes both Amirah and her Wolf.

    Amirah, Living Swarm

As the wolf finally starts to succumb to his wounds, Amirah calls upon her own life energy to give him a final refresh. Her energy is depleted, but the wolf shimmers as he is sent back to his own place before it can die.

"That wasn't very nice!" she complains - although she doesn't seem saddened by the loss. "I'll have to ask Tiger to help. And he is always cranky when I call him in the middle of the day."

And indeed, as she opens up a third portal, the growl of the tiger having been woken up promises pain for any who stand in his way. "Go, savage the bleeding corpse! Who's a good kitty? Yes, you are!" Amirah entices him, and then calls upon the crocodile, "Are you going to let him have all the fun?"

And in the crocodile's defence, he does rush forward to participate, but the tiger falls on his prey with incomparable savagery. He is clearly not a happy to be woken up, and his claws tear into the corpse, pulling large ribbons of meat right off the bone.

    Amirah, Living Swarm

"Yes, of course, Medinah," she says. A few passes, and the gates reopen. As the crocodile and tiger leave, the boat suddenly looks much bigger. "But I want to check for pretty new toys, too!" she says as her swarm surges into the air in the direction of the Midnight Mirage. Her flight is slower, though - her flying swarm members are clearly strained.

After a brief message to the captain letting her know the ship is peaceful, Amirah makes her way back and all but collapses. "Grasshoppers are complaining they can't fly any more long distance," she says as way of explanation, before starting to bustle around looking for shiny new things.

    The Fang of the Deep
Medinah picks up the sword swords, one in each hand. She feels the power within them, and she has soon divined their properties. She also senses something more within the vibrating blade - she thinks, perhaps, that a fragment of the ghost's essence remains in the blade. The other seems to be perpetually dripping venom, though with a thought Medinah finds that she can deactivate it.

    The Fang of the Deep
The group manages to find one of the boats still intact; they stack the gold and the art pieces onto that boat, and load Kihtsah and Teshiq into it. The others take advantage of the Waterborn ritual to accompany them in the water. As the Hunters depart, the ship sags and then begins to sink, slowly. It takes them only three or so minutes to come up alongside the Midnight Mirage, at which point some of the crew throw lines down, and the beleaguered Hunters are hauled back up on deck.

Shaur flashes her fanged smile. Welcome back, Hunters. Mr. Rajind has explained his situation for us; The Guild will probably offer an extra bounty for his safe return. We have a heading. You lot go get some rest, and the quartermaster shall debrief you later. She motions towards their cabins. Take us north, Caal! Mr. Rajind will guide your heading from there.

"Yes, rest would be good," Amirah says as she picks up her discarded clothes and flows back into them. Once she is properly hidden from view once more, she makes her way towards the small cabins, trailing dead insects pushed beyond endurance.

"I'll be drinking one of Medinah's mead bottles, if anyone wants some company," she lets them know as she sits in the bed of her crowded compartment, pulling one such bottle from her pouch.

The warforged nods in agreement with the order to rest, though she's a bit preoccupied with her battle damage, particularly a section of pitted, blackened, heat-warped plating--hidden from view by the illusion of course, not wanting to alarm the ship's new guests with her true form.

"My external appearance is down five percent. Shaur, I need to be cleaned," she says in her typical deadpan before going down to the armory.
