Re: Miko Fanart (WIP... again)
Looks pretty good, but that square jaw... It wouldn't look out of place on an all-American superhero.
Siela Tempo by the talented Kasanip. Tengu by myself.

Re: Miko Fanart (WIP... again)
I *was* aiming for a sort of 'iron-jawed amazon look', but it's possible I overdid things... Any better?

Re: Miko Fanart (WIP... again)
The chin is still too manly, I don't think it works with an asian face.
Also the arms are a bit too short. I would make them just a tad longer.Last edited by Threeshades; 2011-03-14 at 07:37 PM.

Re: Miko Fanart (WIP... again)
A little too far for my taste, but I see your point. I was sort of aiming for halfway-between Tia Carrere and Vanessa Mae, who both have pretty strong jawlines.
Any warmer?
That's true, actually. In fact, the entire lower body may be too big.
I'll take a day or three to reconsider the whole setup and get back to y'all. In any case, I do appreciate the feedback.Last edited by Carry2; 2011-03-15 at 07:49 AM. Reason: Pic

Re: Miko Fanart (WIP... again)
EDIT: Yeah, I don't think this is going anywhere in particular. I'll have to rework this one completely.

Re: Miko Fanart (WIP... again)
Here's a substantially reworked version in a different pose. Still kinda sketchy.

Re: Miko Fanart (WIP... again)
Excellent! I think the jawline works this time around. The issue I can see though is that her hairline is a little too high. It looks a little like she's balding/got a shaved head in one spot. Maybe it's a monk thing?

Re: Miko Fanart (WIP... again)
Hopefully fixed now. Have restored the deviantart page here, and edited the OP to include the newer version.

Re: Miko Fanart (WIP... again)
It's been my experience that a lot of Chinese and au natural* Korean women have very strong jaw lines. I don't see it much in other Asians though. I don't really consider it a "masculine" feature as such, maybe because most of the women I've met are very feminine in other aspects.
*Grinding down the jawline is a common cosmetic surgery in Korea. In fact Chinese women go to Korea to get the surgery done in increasing numbers.
As for your Miko, I like it. Well honestly I don't care for the hair so much, but that's how she's portrayed in OotS, so it's kind of a non-issue.I used to live in a world of terrible beauty, and then the beauty left.

Re: Miko Fanart (WIP... again)
Yeah, the japanese-animé-schoolgirl ideal (huge eyes, tiny chin,) doesn't have much more to do with reality than the 'lollypop figure' would for westerners.
Anyway, this will probably be my last major revision for a while. ...I've given some thought to a Sapphire Guard ensemble, though.

Re: Miko Fanart (WIP... again)
Haha! Yeah, have you ever seen those images where they take a photo and modify it so that the proportions would be the same as the most common representations of anime/manga characters? Makes my skin crawl.
I'm unfamiliar with a lollipop figure. Is that anything like hourglass, or more like a lamp-post with a couple of melons glued to it?I used to live in a world of terrible beauty, and then the beauty left.
